Don't worry friends I'm sure you'll have your annual out of the box performance against Melbourne.
Highly doubtful as we have thrown out last year's game plan of moving the ball quickly & reverted to Nick's wooden spoon plan.

Get on Lever for a record number of marks....

Firstly. I'd move Laird to back pocket.

Out: Milera, Smith, Pedlar, Jones, Sholl, McHenry, (Murphy)
In: Curtin, Nankervis, Dowling, Berry, Edwards, Ryan (Pedlar)

FB: Worrell ~ Borlase ~ Laird
HB: Michalanney ~ Keane ~ Hinge
C: Soligo ~ Crouch ~ Nankervis
R: Obrien ~ Dawson ~ Rachele
HF: Dowling ~ Walker ~ Keays
FF: Rankine ~ Fogarty ~ Burgess
B: Edwards ~ Berry ~ Ryan ~ Curtin
S: Pedlar
Dropping a bunch of B granders for a bunch of C granders

If our whole coaching plan is s**t, then what does it matter?

Our best play this week was chip, chip, chip, then around the boundary line to a contested kick to someone... who kicks a point.

The whole thing is a big steaming turd. Everyone knows it.
If they bring this game plan next week, against the demons, the demons will smash them like they did to Hawks, who tried that plan

We are prepared and waiting for the reamming.
If you could make it so big nick’s doesn’t come back the following Monday that would be appreciated

Unfortunately, Milera's season-ender has just given a free pass to B.Smith to play every game this season.
Nah... Dan Curtin to replace Smith...please🙏
Jones replaces Milera down back (in spite of his crap form on the wing) and Nank becomes our new wing.
Edwards replaces Pedlar as I'm sure he will dispose of the pill better, get more of it, and run more.
Dowling replaces Murphy.

Hinge and Walker lucky but Tex only has one more poor game before it's Gollant time to get some movement in the forward line. Love the big guy but a bigger guy would recognise when he should step aside until he's properly fit.

Cupboard looking increasingly bare🙄

If we back the boys in, I'm not sure I can be bothered turning up next week.

There just has to be a statement at selection that not only was tonight unacceptable, but all but 2 quarters this season.

Nankervis - Milera
Curtin - Borlase
Dowling - Hinge
Gollant - Walker (managed)
Taylor - Pedlar
Cook - Murphy

B: Michalanney, Keane, Laird
HB: Nankervis, Worrell, Curtin
C: Smith, Crouch, Sholl
HF: Rachele, Fogarty, Keays
F: Rankine, Burgess, Gollant
R: O'Brien, Dawson, Soligo
I: Jones, Taylor, Dowling, McHenry
Sub: Cook
I’m flying down from Brisbane and paying a kings ransom for a room… I’ll be damned if I’m going to miss a frigging second of the debacle likely to unfold. At least I’ll be able to have some bloody good seafood and catch up with family while here.

Pardon the intrusion, but I feel like I'm nearly getting as frustrated watching your midfield as you are at the moment.

It's blatantly obvious to nearly everyone except that bald campaigner of a coach that you can't play Crouch and Laird together at nearly every stoppage. Both of them are one-paced, one-dimensional—dare I say it—stat-padders. Combine that with Dawson forgetting how to football, and you have three treacle slow mids who aren't providing any effective drive out of the middle.

Fair play to Crouch, he's been OK this year, and there's room for one in and under extractor with no real hurt factor, but that's it. Laird should either be moved out to a HB flank, or down to the SANFL where he can accumulate all of the meaningless possessions he'd like.

Dawson obviously stays, but you need to surround him with some dynamic players like Soligo, Rankine and Rachele in order to give him some space to operate and do what he does best, rather than trying to operate in a phone booth.

TL;DR – the Dawson/Laird/Crouch combo should never be seen at a centre bounce. Rather than having each of them at 80%+ CBAs, I reckon you'd look a mile better doing something like Crouch 70%, Dawson 65%, Soligo 50%, Rankine 50%, Rachele 45%, Laird 20% (if that).

Hell, if Nicks insists on playing plodders who can't kick in the mids, he might as well play Keays in there, because at least he offers something defensively.

Anyway, I'll butt out. Hopefully he pulls his head out of the proverbial soon (maybe after one more week), as it's pretty plain to see where your midfield is going wrong at the moment. Have some faith in the young, exciting guys – Crouch and Laird aren't leading you to a flag.
You wanna coach? I reckon there could be a job becoming available soon…

Melbourne - playing Windsor because the kid can football. Curtin, Edwards, Ryan can all play and showed on the weekend (albeit Curtin needs a few more weeks given his preseason).

Nank, Dowling, Ryan and Edwards should all come in for Murphy, Pedlar, Milera and McHenry but Nick's wont

Nick's akready in survival mode

I think we might see Dowling against Melbourne in Pedlar's role, with Pedlar dropped. Generally in the past when someone has been given a core midfield role in the SANFL and dominated they've been pretty happy to bring them in. Hopefully they stick with Soligo getting a good share of CBAs and throw a couple Dowling's way as well.

I'd like to see Pedlar get one more week even though he's been awful but I think he'll be the one to go.

Something like:
In: Nankervis, Dowling, Butts (if fit), Murphy (probably)
Out: Milera, Pedlar, Borlase, McHenry (to sub)

I still don't really see a good role for Laird if he's not in the middle and I think he might get dropped at some point this year, but probably not yet. If Dowling can come in and do well that's an obvious option if Laird isn't working out.

We all know Nicks will double down on the sh1tty new game plan with the mantra of "do plan A better" and stick with his rusted on senior players.

We are going to get embarrassed in front of a national audience. Nicksy, put the kids in to at least look like you've done some self relection and re-assessment.

F. Rachele Gollant Rankine
HF. Keays Fogarty Cook
C. Nankervis Dawson Curtin
HB.Hinge Keane Laird
B. Max Borlase Worrell
1r. ROB Crouch Soligo
IC. Pedlar Burgess Dowling Sholl
Sub. McHenry

Out
Walker - inj
Milera - inj
Smith - omit, been in free fall for 3 years
Jones - omit, doesnt have it
Murphy - omit, cooked.

In
Gollant - give him 6 weeks and then we know for sure.
Cook - another one we've never given an extended run, adds a different mix to the fwd line as a medium fwd.
Nank - should've been in round 1.
Curtin - forget the sports science, elite talent, just play him.
Dowling - well earnt debut to include half a dozen CBAs.

Izak - let him off the chain, think Melb game at the G last year where he played higher up.
Keays - put him on Lever, best chance of saving the embarrassment of another Stewart/Pearce performance in our F50.
Rachele - half a dozen CBAs
Laird - midfield days are done, SANFL if he doesnt like it.
Pedlar - lucky, has been poor but lets invest half a dozen CBAs and see if there is a midfielder there.
Sholl - he is what he is, but on a dry night his DE has been ok and at least covers the ground.

Expectations as low as ever, if we go in with Milera and only one other change im expecting a belting. Get the kids in, esp in the midfield, give us some hope and positives!

Welcome. None of us will be particularly offended by the intrusion! You are merely pointing out what most of us here already recognized. I'd simply like to thank you for not suggesting Laird spend time in the forward line - him getting wrapped up in a run down tackle last Friday shows us everything we need to know about his sense of "urgency" and execution in the F50.

I think one of the most frustrating things about our current midfield setup is we had an entire preseason being teased by various club sources for the next era midfield release of Rankine, Rachele and Soligo (pre ankle injury). And then we got smacked in the face with a wet weather game in round 1 and suddenly decided we'd go back to playing like it was 2020 again.

I’m not so sure the problem is the midfield. I may be wrong but it seems like we’re getting the ball out and into the forward 50 and then it bounces straight back out. Added to that is the very very inexperienced back line with no real stars in it at the moment.
