Yep, that defence is arguably what we would have in our best 22 on paper (though JJ was looking good before he was injured).

The forward line is only missing Ryan.

The expectation is a competitive match. If it's a blow out then that should signal the end of Simmo.

It's all pretty irrelevant if you can't get the ball inside 50 roughly 50 or so times. 40 or less and it's basically a guaranteed loss.

Surely Hewett is selected and I would've thought Petch based on last week's form.
I could also see Bazzo selected (with McGovern and Hurn being named in the 18) and Maric being selected as well (for team balance).

I dont think Bazzo will play as its too tall/slow with Hurn. Ginbey, Hough and Shuey can play defence.

Sure, but plenty of inside 50s are generated through the backline.

And that backline (on paper) should be capable of creating turnover and pushing up.

Listening to Simpson on 6PR and I’m guessing Gaff to be the sub

Adam Papalia asked him directly about Gaff and the response was along the lines of you see it happening across the league (out of form senior players) and clubs handle it in different ways. Then mentioned playing reserves, or as a sub or back them to regain form but the tone (to me) sounded more like he wasn’t in the 22

He also said that Cole would start but wasn’t ready to play full minutes. With that in mind having Gaff who can be trusted to play the minutes if needed as an early sub makes sense

Would like to see Hough continue as the shut down small defender role he played it so well last week.

Play Maric and Bazzo don’t drop them get games into these kids, they are the future.

Cole shouldn’t come in if that is the case, he should come in through the WAFL so he can be managed.
It’s not rocket science. Haven’t we seen enough of under done players getting re injured playing in the seniors.
