As bad as cox is at that - damn he was being held a lot last night.

NN the same - in fact NN should have had a heap of frees for being shepherded off the ruck contest when he wanted to go third man up. Happen half a dozen times - was running to the ruck and was blocked by someone with no eyes of the contest

You're just falling for the same thing the umpires are

Just reckon we were way too tall last night.

OUT: LeCras, Sinclair, Schofield

Bennell MacKenzie Glass
Ellis Brown Yeo

Cox seems to be spending more time playing for free kicks in the ruck. When he is around the ground he spends time waiting for us to gain possession and run forward. It appears to me he is demanding respect from the umpires and his players because he is a legend of the club. Me thinks his ego is way bigger than Subiaco oval right now. That being said, he is still effectual in the ruck but NN is more damaging in the ruck atm and this may be because Cox is playing for frees. Sinclair seems to be more damaging up forward taking contested marks.
We simply have to play Nic as the main ruckman in tandem with Cox. We are in the fortunate position of having 4 good ruckmen but it doesn't mean you have to play them all at the same time or even three. Essendon tried the same thing a couple of years ago and that was eventually stopped. Nic Nat needs to find form and that will only happen playing where he is most effective...in the ruck. Sinclair has played well but still drops marks and is still a liability when the ball hits the ground. Cox, Naitanui, Kennedy and Darling are enough talls in the forward line. We need more skill on the ground when the ball hits to score as well as stop theun from defence.

No mate, they were undersized and doing a lot of holding

Cox does his arm flailing every week more often then not unneeded - last night was not one of them.

There was a lot of holding by a defence that was undersized

Geelong will probably go in with 3 ruckmen as they have done all year so why would we drop Sinclair? In light of schofield being described as serviceable by Simpson my changes would be:
Out: Lecras, Schofield
In: Hill, Wellingham

Out: Lecras, Colledge
In: Wellingham, Sheed

Assuming no more injury outs.

Schofield Sub, Sinclair subbed off if no injuries.

Hutchings will spend one more week in the WAFL.

Looking at the potential ins made me smile about a decent little bit of depth we're developing. Can't be angry when Wellingham, Sheed, Hill and Hutchings are about to come back in!

Out: Colledge, Sinclair, LeCras, Additional unlucky player (Probably Schofield)
In: Wellingham, Sheed, Hutchings, Hill (Swap for Lecca)

All in all the quality of that in is pretty outstanding. With the exception of Lecca and a few sore bodies I think we're actually in a better position going into the Geelong game then before last night. The Saint's dished out some fairly heavy pressure and the Eagles responded albeit after 2 and a half quarters, so hopefully they'll be firing on when they head out against the Cats and if the Cats can't sustain the same manic pressure as the Saints did early then we're every bit of a chance.

How many talls we drop probably depends on the weather in Geelong. I think Sinclair's decision-making is poor and he offers very little to the team. If we need another ruckman, then pick Lycette(who is more skillful)...or if we want optimal flexibility(our new mojo) we could pick McGovern who can ruck, play Key Forward and Key Back.

How many marks have been taken by our 'rucks' in the 50m arc this year? How many goals have they kicked? How many times has Sinclair turned the ball over this year?

Sinclair can be a bit hit and miss with his marking. Can take a great contested mark, but can also miss some absolute sitters. His goalkicking also needs to improve as well. He doesn't seem to get great contact- kicked some absolute floaters from the set shot last year.

I would keep him in the team for now but wouldn't be totally surprised if they drop him in the following weeks for a more mobile player or replace him with Lycett.

Sinclairs time is up. It was always going to happen, we called it in round 1 that he'll be gone round 4 unless he does something particularly special. Which he hasn't.
Shows promise for sure but execution is average and we cannot carry that given the fact that Naitanui is so far from his best right now.

We should bring in Lycett for Sinclair and let Naita spend more time forward as the third tall against Geelong.

Not sure Schoey did enough to keep his spot but if Yeo is rotated through the midfield more (we'll need his pace against the Cats) he should hold his HBF spot for next week.

Other ins/outs depend on Masto's recovery this week and the availability of Wellingham. Also need a replacement for Lecca (can Shred function in the forward line?)

You wouldn't think Hutchings comes in without having played a game for 6 weeks. 1 or 2 games in the WAFL imo

Not going to happen by any stretch but what I'd like to see

Lecca out for Hill, not really a like for like swap as Hill wont gather 25+ touches like Lecca can but as for goal output he should be hoping for 3+ with his pace used to good effect if he tries hard enough

Nicnat either to be subbed out or be the sub. Amazing player and usually vital for the team but he's a power player, a burst player, he doesn't look to have that endurance yet.

Colledge out for Wellingham - Just a better talent that plays well with those around him, knows the game plan and hits the scoreboard, also has pace and aggression.

Schoey to stay in the team, yes he's tall but if it's run we need, he provides it. He would be my preferred option over Yeo if it came down to it but both can still play.

Hutchings / Butler for Sinclair - Just for one week, get some strength into the midfield so the cats don't run rings around us, neither is quick but they'll be more agile than Sinclair, Butler has great vision and can go back to a HBF if Bennell/Shep aren't doing well defensively.

Priddis is needed for this game, the cats are strong and although he had a bad game I'd expect him to be filthy with himself and stand up, he's the solid body we need in there this week against the bigger cats players.
