who do you predict will match up on him?

It will change depending on where on the ground he is. I expect E-Mac to go to Schultz so Glass/Brown would probably get him in forward 50 then when he drifts back we will put a runner on him. Problem is his size/height so maybe Schofield? Certainly no one has the tank/size to play on him 100% of the time.

Just watch North game against you and you will see you are defensively soft.

Like us, you have played 3 easy beats and one against quality and lost. Don't get carried away with your form.

defensively soft is a interesting post. between trengrove carlile and jonas they have had 6 goals between them kicked for the season thats a fairly good return for a defensively soft team. Was norths midfield/fwd players that where the ones that got on top and got the score to beat us not norths fwds. Secondly port are ranked 4th on tackles (interesting stat that seeing brissy didn't have much of the ball on the weekend) and 4th for score against for the season. Ill agree we didnt do things the way they normally would against north and possibly a bit soft in that game, but it really was only 1 1/2 quarters they went like that in that game after 3 bad injuries as well

Mackenzie would have been delisted years ago.
Delisted? That's getting off lightly around here.

It certainly will.

The run of Westhoff at Subiaco will be an interesting match up for us.
TBH I think all of Skuzz, Brown and Easy have the pace to go with him. It just comes down to rotating on him so they can go with him all day. Have a rest on the more stationary Schulz.

Pack the side with midfielders this week to match Ports running power. If we can match them in the midfield, we win IMO. It was blessing in disguise that Shuey, Masten and Rosa had last week off (we wouldn't have won with them playing against the Cats in Geelong anyway), they will need to be fresh in the legs to match the Port mids. I'll back Brown, Glass and McKenzie to cover Schulz and Westhoff, and our forward line should have the edge over their backmen.

If we can somehow grind out a win this game, and have wins over Carlton and GWS (I know you can never be sure, but Carlton are a shambles and GWS still not quite there yet despite good form this year), then we can be sitting pretty at 6-2 at the bye (can't see us beating Freo). Will give the boys a lot of confidence to be 6-2, hopefully spurs them on for the rest of the year. Shows how vital this weeks game is to our season.

In: Masten, Shuey, Glass, Rosa, Hutchings
Out: Lycett/Natanui (if NN isn't fit), Mcginnity, Butler, Schofield, Colledge

It's is bloody fustrating to see NicNat sadly playing no where near fully fit.

In: Masto, Schuey, Glass, Rosa
Out: McGinnity, Butler, Colledge, NicNat

The inclusion of 3 mids should make us a hell of a lot more competitive

I can't abide by this.

Drew Petrie was blanketed, Aaron Black had minimal impact and Lindsay Thomas kicked most of his goals from questionable head-high freekicks. In terms of the middle, North only got right on top after Monfries went off with a hamstring and Wingard hurt his ankle, which left him unable to chase and forced him to miss the Brisbane game.

We were at half-rat pace for the entire last quarter I was surprised North didn't win by more.

If you're susceptible to questionable head-high free kicks then we should get over the line ;)

You should have kept Davenport on your list and just played him in West Coast games.

To tell you the truth I was quite a fan of him, disappointed when we de-listed him at the end of 2011. Good running, aggression and goal sense and he was a bit of a match winner. But he only really proved that in that last quarter of our meeting in 2010.

First half was terrible, so much so that Dermie and Dunstall commented on him being half-hearted and needing to force himself to be harder at the ball.
That was about one specific contest, where Gaff elected to wait and tackle rather than fight for posession. It wasn't a general comment on his game.

Big ins there. I expect this game to be a tough test. It should give both teams a better indication of where they stand this season.

These statistics aren't as black and white as you think as you have to factor in Port Adelaide's terrible form 2012 and earlier and the effect of the new coach and game from last year, but it's interesting to note that looking back as far as 2008, we haven't won at Patersons Stadium.
I'm also not sold on our game being too effective on the great expanses of the ground. We generally seem to allow the other team to switch quite easily whilst putting numbers behind the ball and trying to make the kick into the F50 difficult, causing the turnover and running it out in numbers. I'm not sure if this will work as well at Patersons than other grounds.
For me, as mentioned above by some other Port Adelaide supporters, I think it will come down to a midfield battle. Port struggled in the first quarter against Carlton and Brisbane and throughout the game against North Melbourne when our midfielders couldn't get out hands on the ball and let their midfielders off the hook. We seem to allow these 10 minute patches where the opposition midfield gets on top and we don't seem to have an answer.
I concede that we still seem to struggle against the smaller forwards (Betts, Lindsay Thomas, to a lesser extent Ellard so far this season), but to the WCE fan saying our defense is our weakness probably hasn't seem to much of us play as Trengove, Bobby Carlisle and Jonas have been rocks for us.

Bring on the game. I think it will be a great measuring stick for both teams.

Let me clarify that when I said your defence has been soft I was not specifically talking about the players you mention. I am speaking about the exact same thing as you mentioned above. Port is a very attacking side but you can get caught going the other way and sometimes too easily. My intention was to highlight the defensive aspect to your midfield group.

Decided to go to the Western Force game instead of watching us put up what appears to have been an absolutely woeful performance after quarter time. we should at least get some cavalry come in this week but i think that result just proves that we have no where near the depth required of a premiership caliber team. Without actually watching the game its hard for me to comment who to come out or whatever but sounds like pretty much everyone should be replaced. anyway here goes

Outs:
Nic Nat or Lycett (depending on NN injury although i wouldn't be against giving him a run with the Royals regardless)
McGinnity
Butler
Colledge
Sheppard (if Masto is good to go)
Schofield

Ins:
Shuey
Masto (if fit which i doubt)
Rosa
Glass
Hutchings
Carter
