Redden has been ok defensively, pressure acts are up, which would suggest he is maybe playing a role we want him to. May be wrong, though.

Any mention of Danny Southern makes me start frothing at the mouth. My most hated player of the 90s after he nearly choked Suma to death.

I felt a lot kinder towards the Dogs after he left.

Southern is a really nice guy who changed when he crossed the white line, like many others. He acted like a flog that day and the vision of him trying to choke Sumich is not pretty and he admitted he was ashamed of it. I hate players like Dermott Brereton more in the 90's. In 91, West Coast were easily the best side. Brereton racially villified Chris Lewis in the GF, backed up by his mates and his coach, who mas made out to be a saint. West Coast would have pissed that GF in, if Lewis had fired, because he was a gun player. Hawthorn stooped to an all time low that day and West Coast rightfully won the flag the next year.

Although it's clear he'll add way more than Giles. Especially if he gets a decent amount of ground time.

That's what makes me think it's as much about rest as anything. I doubt the MC expect McInnes to deliver anything Giles can't.

He's been playing mostly defensive and run-with roles this year. It seems to be what people are attributing his improvement on last year to.

Much like the role he played v Fyfe I'd expect if they are matched against each other.

Good on the kid to be able to turn it around and prove a few of the doubters wrong. Was he a whipping boy over there in the WA media ? Seems to be playing with a chip on his shoulder.
