So much love for Four Touch Brayden.

I really, really, really hope he can add the only thing missing from his game……….getting the ball.
I agree he needs to find more of it, but if Ned can stay in the side after five-possession games and Smith after doing nothing coming on as the sub, surely Cook deserves some leeway too.

Cook left himself vulnerable but I hope he gets a stay of execution
Yes..BUT it had better not be murphy. Berry yes and only for him. Otherwise i will take weeks more of cook getting to show if he has an AFL future or not than more meh with a guy thats barey played in the last few months that over many seasons has not shown anywhere near enough to justify coming into the 22 just like that.

I'm hopeful this week that McHenry is the sub - think it's his best role and unlike a lot of other players he seems to thrive on it instead of struggling to impact the game. Cook gets a full game that way, and if he's poor again it might be worth considering trying Schoenberg, Dowling or Taylor in his spot.

Maybe if he’d got the gold passes earlier in his career that others have got, he’d be a better player by now?

I agree with this, but at some stage you have to start taking your chances and stop actively positioning yourself anywhere but where the ball is (for fear of stuffing up).

Hes not a Nicks Golden boy, but it doesnt take genius level I.Q to understand what it takes to be one.
If he cant figure that part out, hes gone.

Yep.

Give Cook a month to find his feet, then make a decision.

Don't yo-yo him for the rest of the season and end up having no idea whether he has value moving forward.

Unfortunately he’s a genuine half forward who we are playing in the graveyard role.
Usually that’s reserved for mids.
Wouldn’t mind seeing him get an extended run on the wing but that’s reserved for someone who’s been equally poor but immune from being dropped in Chayce.

Chayce is a good example of what Im talking about. He has identified "Hustle" and "shape keeping" as the prerequisites to being selected if you cant get or use the ball well.
Despite his obvious skillset, Cook hasnt realised this yet and he CAN use the ball well.

(not saying you ) but this is bullshit, his perceived toughness and pressure is overrated and overstated.
Averaging the same 1%ers and tackles as cook this year.

If we can carry some of the hacks we have, we can carry Cook for a few more to give him that time to find his feet.

You do realise that he has played the last five matches. How many weeks in your month?

After having a month to find his feet….. he had a Four Disposal game.

And the week before the Showdown he had a 15 possession 3 goal game...

We can keep him in for now.

It only has to be measured against Cook though to keep his spot.

Im not suggesting Chayce is a walk up start by any stretch.

You ignoring his 3 goals the week before, he also scored a goal last week.

*another - sorry, missed that.

Hard to judge someone when the team has been so hot and cold over the last month or so.

How'd he go last week?

I know it was only Norf, but that's a good game, followed by a poor game; not a shock for a youngster.

We lose nothing by giving him another month to prove himself - if he can't make the step up, at least we'll know.
