And that’s why you can’t rely on the stats sheet to judge performance.

The zero turnovers is only by the grace of god. His kick to Wood was one of great risk and little reward. I’d be uncomfortable having Daniel taking those chances, never mind someone with a fraction of his ability.

The other kick I50 not counted as a ‘turnover’ was much worse and should have resulted in a goal against.
Spot on

He wasn't terrible because he only touched it 6 times, one of those kicks should of resulted in an Adelaide goal and he is playing against a bloke who is passed it and another kid. I'll stand corrected but under pressure against a good side I think he will be found wanting but clearly the MC don't believe that!

That is my concern - its like taking one less man into the game when we are already down a quality defender in Crozier and a steady defender in Cordy. Let alone adding Roarke as well. If its a talented kid, you can get away with it, but a timid, nervous, unskilled labourer is asking for trouble

Someone else suggested it.
He was originally a back.
We invested a lot of money.
So why not put Bruce back.
Better than Gardner maybe.
With Jamarra to partner Naughton next year.
Good time to try something different.
That was me - Definitely think it could work.
He won’t be out muscled often. He at the very least can compete and as you say, can’t be worse than Gardner.

Schache seems to work well with Naughton and then we’ll hopefully have Jamarra next.

Someone else also pointed out how bad Bruce was when tried as a defender. He is a forward, pure and simple.

Don’t think he was “originally a back”. GWS just tried him there.

Don't get me wrong he's certainly not in my 22 I'm just saying that he will be there until Cordy returns.

Why does half this board want to drop Lloyd? 5 goals in 3 games. Proven performer for us last year. God knows we need more older heads/experience in the team. And him being goal-hungry in a team that constantly frustrates with the number of times it over-uses the ball forward of centre?

I'm not anti-Lloyd but if Dickson is now fit and showing scratchmatch form and if it's one or the other then I'd go Dickson. He has a much more impressive body of work, has more experience and regularly hits the scoreboard.

He's 22 and a bit, he's 203cm and 106kg, apparently he was excellent in a recent scratch match. Bring on the LOLLY MAN SWEET!

English needs a rest & if Gawn or Preuss dominate English I fear for him, it could be another embarrassment.

And an unfortunate typo a couple of weeks ago gave him a new nickname.

I would expect the Port game is where Big Timmy gets a rest, no point making him sit on a plane and Sweet candebut in his home town as I don't think our bye has been scheduled yet

I know most of the players' nicknames ... but who is Sweet Candybutt?

Lloyd is an absolutely garbageeee footballer. Goal hungry but can’t kick, great.

He looks slow, can't tackle, can't create his own opportunities, crap disposal missing targets consistently, can't find his own ball, at least two (probably more) of his goals have been cheapies that anyone would have kicked.

Also, out of Wallis/Dale/Lloyd he's playing the worst. If VDM is fit he adds so much more to the team, despite the experience difference.

Several of those goals were due to the good work of others (particularly Wallis), Lloyd's not really a curator of opportunities and then obviously his lack of speed and defensive pressure is something that should heavily weigh against him. Players like Schache/Lloyd who don't provide adequate pressure (nor draw a good defender) should be fazed out.

I still believe Jong could play a really vital makeshift role like Cordy did in 2016. Can mark, got closing speed and tackling pressure. And he's the type who will provide blocks for other players. True team orientated player.

Want to see more of Cavarra too, he might fit that bill also.

If I had to pick a forward line that suited our gamestyle, right now I'd select

HF: Cavarra, Bruce, Vandermeer/Mclean
FF: Wallis, Naughton, Jong

That gives us some hard bodies, with a good amount of speed to provide pressure as well as plenty of high ball representation.

Has our indigenous guernsey been released?

I feel like ours should be one of the easiest designs in the league but we seem to stuff it up every year

VDM is a walk up start at the moment, great season by the young fella. He's starting to get noticed. I love the mad stare in his eyes. And he comes from Mooroopna, the beating heart of the Goulburn Valley, where I spent several weeks picking pears.

I had just about written off Jong and Roarke Smith. But I think both are handy types for all the reasons you've laid out.

Jong's biggest glaring weakness was his connection with other mids on transition. Often he would be the one that would miss a critical handball that would snuff out goals or create opportunities for the opposition.

However as a third tall forward he wouldn't be asked to do this. Rather he can stick to his strengths of marking the ball, and using his closing speed to lock the ball inside forward 50. Jong knows he's not a star, he knows that he needs to go above and beyond defensively to keep his spot in the team. It's for this reason I'd utilize him in that role.

Rourke Smith I wouldn't utilize in that role. He doesn't have Jong's athleticism to fufill that role imo.

Apparently Crozier is a good chance to get up for the game. Much needed, which means Gardy probably goes out.
Great to hear. Not a big deal to miss the Adelaide game but we'll need him against Melbourne. I doubt Gardner goes out because it's not like for like. Not until Cordy's back IMO.

I'm a pretty good chance to get up for the game too. It'll be after 1pm so I've got no excuses.

Jealous. Please no Gardner this is a must win game.

This seems to be a common theme with a few of our players, posters reminding us of Gowers form in 2018 (?), Dale’s last half of 2019 and Lloyd's previous year.Their actual form this year is the reason some of us are calling for changes. I would swim across port Phillip Bay ..... if potential was always certain to be realised.

I just wonder whether they back Wood/Crozier/Williams in the air against McDonald/Weideman, while Keath will take the deeper of the two.

Am I the only one that thought Gardner wasn't bad last game?
I get that had a poor first showing and is now the team designated whipping boy. We just have to play two tall defenders each week. Have to.

Yeah don't believe he was that bad. Not a fan overall and to be fair he wasn't really allowed to lay poorly due to our domination around the field.

I agree that 2 KPD's are an absolute must and I'm not a huge Lewis Young fan. Gardiner probably retains his spot until Cordy is ready.

Not a fan of 3KPD's though. Crozier, Wood, Williams all are pretty good aerially so I like 2 KPD's and Wood taking the 3rd tall forward.

Agree there, I think our best balance is two KPDs and two interceptors. I really rate Lachie Young and think he'll be very good in one of the interceptor roles, will probably be best 22 when Wood retires.
Lewis Young is still raw as hell and has development left in him.
