We badly need Howard down back next week.

Mckenzie and Houston out
For Pittard and Hombsch would have me frothing at the lips.

Pittard Clurey Jonas
Hartlett Howard Bonner

Bench: DBJ, Hombsch

Please make it happen. Mckenzie was an absolute liability on the weekend and Houston does nothing but kick well (currently) and have yet to see any defensive whatsoever this year.

The other out seems obvious, SPP in for Amon and if Marshall isn’t fit then Thomas in for him too.

No way do we need Howard, Clurey, Jonas and Hombsch down back against a side that has one half decent key forward.

Well Houston or McKenzie frees up DBJ to go back down back where he belongs. And Rockliff is barely sighted so I wouldn’t even realise he was gone.
I agree with you about Rocky. Needs to find form in the SANFL...

Ken goes on about Frampton not being ready.. Rocky isn't anywhere near it.

Yeah Billy Frampton should be touring the club facilities of any club that shows him even the slightest bit of interest at this point.

I love this ‘Billy Frampton should move clubs for more opportunity’ theory that’s going around the board. He can’t get a game at a team with literally zero recognised ruckman in the side, where is he possibly going to go where there’s more opportunity?

That makes too much sense.

Yeah, dropping the bloke who’s been our best forward all year and prior to getting hurt on the weekend was sitting top 10 in the Coleman for our second choice SANFL ruckman ‘makes too much sense’. Righto.

I was assuming that Marshall won't be playing. Relax guy.

I think the assumption was he’d be out with injury.

It's ridiculous we don't have a mature break glass ruck on peanuts or even some project overseas longshanks rookie listed.
What is ridiculous is not playing Frampton as a break glass ruck. Seeing Doogz just shoved out of the way and their tall fwds taking marks.
As if Billy's going to do any worse. Yeah he was ordinary in a strong wind on Saturday but his fitness looks fine to me.
Starting to wonder if there's a personal issue between him and Ken. Sam Gray was persevered with for a long time
seems under Ken all players are not equal. IIRC Ken said pre-season that Billy was ready.

Not necessarily the same thing re Wild Billy, but a bloke named Russell Johnston, who couldn't get a gig at the wobblers was `lent ' to Port for a trial match against Richmond at Alberton in the early 80's and proceeded to tear the then VFL representative ruckman in Mark Lees a new one. ;)

Do we have a sensible strategy for the selection of emergencies?
I like Lienert but he is unlikely to be selected and will need to return to the Magpies.
I know this is difficult but a risk assessment based approach based upon player's injuries from the previous match would seem to be a sensible approach to emergency selection, rather than "rewarding" a best Magpies player with the poisoned chalice.
Of course that suggests a "like for like" strategy in emergency selection, which does not appear to be in vogue at the moment.

Really depends how Marshall and Rockliff pull up. I can’t see us making wholesale changes, but I’d like to see Pittard, SPP and either Neade or a ruckman brought in.

I read that as Neade as A ruckman and thought, why not, it sounds like something Ken would do seeing that we've already trialled him as a tall forward.

I reckon SPP comes back in. Need to get the young man back into football and getting him enjoying what he does.

Also possibly Atley as well. Finding the ball in the SANFL, lets give him a run.

For me, Howard is the point of difference in our back line with respect to the talls. He is quick, tall and excellent intercepter. Clurey and Jonas are very similar (as is Hombsch) in height, pace, and style of player. I think Dougal down back is super important for structure. Picture Clurey on Hawkins and Dougal floating back/from the side to chop out. Jonas doesnt do this anywhere near as well.

At the same time, I think Charlie forward is equally important for structure.

For this reason, I think we need to have Hoff in ruck again for most of the night. Geelong rucks are not exactly Martin/Bellchambers size. Focus on the contest and clearance and make sure Hoff does plenty around the ground.

I hope Marshall gets up to stretch their backline. I also hope Rocky is good to go. If they are both fit, I am making one change and that is SPP in for Amon.

Depends who they play in the ruck. Zack Smith is bigger then both of those two, where as if it’s Stanley with Ratagolia helping that will probably work.... with Dixon providing support.

FFS you campaigners.

Rockliff injured his calf in the first quarter, of course he had a shit game.
And the other few games? He's a leader. I reckon he'll come good but we took the risk letting him find his feet in the AFL when he should of been doing that in the SANFL like everyone else.

correct and one thing you can be sure of is that Chris Scott is very good at planning for teams. Last time he came here when we had Lobbe in the ruck and payed three ruckman, all of whom smashed Lobbe to pieces. It almost ended up as if Lobbe was playing them the amount times he hit to their mids.

Maybe a touch dramatic, but that was as poor a performance as i have seen from an individual in a game !! Poor old Lobbes.

What about Charlie and Hoff 50/50 RUCK/FWD?
