Anyone know the reason why he switched schools between year 11 and 12?

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
In a previous interview he said his family moved from Swan Valley to Western Suburbs. Long way to get to Guildford from there, so did year 12 at Scotch. The interview I heard him on he sounded very mature too, with his head screwed on.

Gossage and Cummings interviewed Elijah Hewett on SEN this morning. Here’s a few takeaways:
  • doesn’t support the Eagles (or anyone), but his whole family does.
  • Indian heritage but hates cricket
  • favorite sport is golf. doesn’t watch football or listen to music
This reads as though he sits in a silent, dark room watching golf highlights on mute.
Only let out to play footy, which he hates apparently.

Maybe not the worst option with our 5th pick or is there a chance he lasts to the RD?

I still prefer Kobe Ryan however he is a bit of a strange cat and didnt interview well.

But on talent i would take Ryan. However if we pick a KPP in our first 3 picks and Jakob Ryan with say our fourth then Hagan I would happily start with our fifth pick or as a rookie.

We may have the option of Gilbey and Hagan there for our late picks or rookie draft.

Did you speak with Jacob Ryan?

Thoughts.

ROYAL EAGLE - what are you thoughts on Bailey Maxwell? The south is starting to really bear fruit for East Perth andt he travel these guys undertake each week must play a major distraction.

He finished the season much better and I am thinking he might be worth a rookie spot if we haven't gone Barnett in with either 20 or 26 and missed Broadbent. He will be a project ruck but the Pieman always like to take a tall and the bloke only turns 18 in the next week. While 88 kk is light for a 200 cm, he is by no means a bean pole. Getting local is always easier for a project

It seems as if Geelong have a seriously good interstate mentoring program going on.
Makes sense.
Identify talent, assign a mentor, keep in touch, if recruited by Geelong unlikely to leave etc.

In WA there was Selwood mentoring Busslinger, now Taylor mentoring Jed Hagan. Anyone else?

highly improbable scenario although it does highlight what a disaster this could be if a few of our fancies go early.
The guy picking for WCE seemed focused on getting a KPD for some reason and he seemed rattled after Allan was taken and also Hewett earlier for that matter

Swap Weddle for Burgiel, or even George, and it looks better or he could have taken Barnett earlier leaving Jones as an option

Hollands instead of Hustwaite would have been a better pairing for Ginbey as well

Ginbey, Hollands, Burgiel, Barnett would be a good draft. Missing Hewett would be my only disappointment if the cards fell that way

If our recruiters keep their heads, this draft is very hard to **** up

Vine Wtf GIF

Clearly a psychopath.
Could be worse, he could be a massive Birds of Tokyo fan
Surely if he liked Huey Lewis and the News as well as Genesis he'll come out just fine.

I watched most of the EP colts games through the year, and he performed well. Could have a couple of more centimetres left in him yet too.
He should be a consideration at a later pick/rookie if we are looking for a ruckman at that point.

I just see Hagan as an absolute nothing pick to be honest. Someone tell me what role he plays at AFL level for our team.

A regular Clem Smith. Jack of no trades and 175cm.

Not a midfielder, not a forward, not a defender really, but probably the closest to one. The Liam Baker utility similarity isn't something that gets me particularly excited, particularly when we're not really filling any sort of need with his selection. Baker is a special player, but for every one of him there's plenty more undersized utility players that don't work out.

That said, he sounds like a good character to have around and clearly works hard. Our second rookie selection I could live with, might lift other draftees around him.

Not really that awful unless we only slipped back to take WA talent

Ginbey at 8 is a fine pick and a real possibility we pull the trigger. He could go earlier.
Hustwaite at 12 was a surprise especially since Hotton and Hollands were both there. I [personally rate Hustwaite closer to 20 and the two mids I want in Hollands and Hotton I see as better.
Weddle at 192 is supposedly the Guv replacement. You modern day CHB at 192 cm!!! Bazzo will take that role with Barrass as FB. Weddle is a 3rd tall and we have enough of that covered (Hustwaite is a mid/3rd tall defender at 195 cm so just dumb drafting where they failed to look at the overall and not each pick). Both Clarke and Burgiel were available so again, dumb drafting.
Barnett at 26 was fine.

So a slight change using who was available, it could have been Ginbey, Hotton, Clarke and Barnett. Hardly a disaster. An inside mid who can start at HBF. A balanced mid who can start as a gen forward. A general forward who can do a rotation in mid and the Cripps replacement. The best ruck in the draft.

These guys doing the mock are Under 18 watchers and not list managers. The comment after every single pick was "I love it". In other words, they love where in the draft they land and not whether they it the list build. The rationale for St Kilda taking Busslinger over looked Battle!!

An interesting thing from this was that GWS pick 31 was likely for sale. I would be fine offering a future 3rd for it if there was someone we rated.

He moves really well has a good jump but is pushed of the footy to easily
Is a good kick of the footy, but struggles overhead marking
Tap work has been pretty limited, struggles at boundary throw ins.
He is a player that needs a lot of work in weight room before even thinking to select him

I've been in on an interview with him and he does interview well. Whilst he said the right things when it came to questions about moving interstate his body language stiffened before answering.

Now I know almost no other club is going to have someone like me reading people like that but it's certainly a reason to slide.

He is an on field leader and comes across very composed both on field and in interviews.

They're family is ridiculously close. I work with his cousin, and being I love the Eagles I asked alot of questions. He doesnt want to move but resounded to the fact is almost a certainty.

For the interview itself, he is an eagles supporter but his uncles are diehard eagles so you can imagine there is some pressure/angst for him to stay home.

Is there substance to him being a knob at Guildford?
Yeah, earlier in the piece but from what i was told he realises the opportunity and wants to give it a real crack.

I am still hoping WCE_phil is right, and we draft Clark, Phillipou and Hewett. After the season we had, I hope we somehow get ****ing lucky. I need some hope for next season.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the intrusion.
On the Hawthorn board, we did a mock draft and I had West Coast.
With the 4 picks, I took

B. Humphrey
D. Jones
E. Hewett
H. Hustwaite

Good/bad?
Me personally, swap out Mackenzie for Humphrey and Hollands for Jones. Hewitt for your 3rd was good work. Hustwait late was also nicely done.
