McRae discussed centre bounces as being a big focus this week. The inclusion of Adams will hopefully mitigate this weakness to an extent, but it's been hurting us all year and putting us in several close tussles despite our dominance around the ground.

Team selection is becoming a challenge for match committee, but it's indicative of growing depth which is always great to have. It means players cannot rest on their laurels assuming they'll be an automatic selection every week.

Happy to see Johnson get rewarded with another opportunity. The inclusions of Adams and Quaynor can only help us. Carmichael was very stiff to miss out, and Henry did nothing wrong in the VFL last week but just fell short as well.

Going to be a tough game. Essendon are playing good football so have to bring our best to win our 9th consecutive game.

All games are danger games and wouldn't life be boring if they weren't?

If the Bombers beat us it will give their season, which so far has been an exercise in futility, purpose.

I hate that idea, hope we fn kill them. If for no other reason, to validate their shyteness.

I like it when you get angry.

Looking forward to getting out to the G. Hopefully the sun stays out, and we get a beautiful day for football....

Danger game written all over it, with us having won 8 on the trot. They say every win means your closer to a loss. The Bumbers are up and about, as they usually are this time of the season, when they haven't been able to achieve anything of substance when it matters earlier in the season. They love getting the inconsequential victories. Their late season runs only benefits their membership department, and sucks in all their finals deprived supporters.

We need to match them in the middle, win our share of clearances, and l think we can get the game on our terms. I think our back six is holding up well enough to stem their forwards. Our mids need to work hard today to reduce their supply inside F50, so hopefully the mids our on song today.

Expecting N Daicos to get a run with player on him today, probably Guelfi, so hopefully Daic's gets some good support from the boys, to try and shake the tag. Be interesting to see how he handles it today. I know the Suns put Holman on him after 1/2 time, and we moved him mid/forward, so be interesting to see what happens today.

Think we still get the win, as l think when sides have nothing to play for, it's difficult to remain up beat, as it's all really just manufactured enthusiasm. Hopefully today the Bumbers have a flat day. As for us, win and we move into the top 4. We have every reason to win today, so our desire and desperation should be well above Essendon’s. Pies by 27 pts...

Going to the game with my sister, niece, and nephew (all Collingwood mad)

Am staying at their house (little bast.ards wake early)

My brother-in-law - a quiet, kind man - is a Melbourne supporter

The world feels right - their fridge is stocked with nice cheese, they are going to Buller next weekend, and he returned from the Dees game disappointed

Forget the idea that winning multiple games means you have to lose your next one. It contradicts the whole concept of form and a winning mentality, which is what I believe in.

Those things are tangible and observable, and in observing our play in the last fortnight I'm not thrilled about our centre clearances play at all. Adams back helps with that but we still need others to carry that burden and get us more first use. Grundy back would help even more but we have at least another week or two to wait for that.

Draper had a good game against us on Anzac Day, as did Parish (albeit without the latter having too much hurt factor with his possessions). If we can get enough first use, apply our usual ton of pressure on the ball carrier and kick straight to make the most of our turnover game we should win, but that's stating the obvious I guess.

I think the Bumbers will want to prove a point after Anzac Day and I reckon there might be some niggle in this game. Looking forward to McCreery and Maynard turning their soft outside types into pretzels.

Finals are in sight and we have the opportunity to finish top four. That’s still a stretch of the imagination anD almost certainly requires us winning one if not both “ eight point games” vs Melbourne and Sydney. But first we need to beat Essendon to stay in the hunt and at worst lock in finals, preferably a home elimination final. .

I have no doubt we can get over the line but the clubs had a lot of close games lately. We are due a loss so better to avoid a close game…..by pumping them by ten goals. Collingwood are also due…. For an easy win.

it seems that your family straddles the traditional collingwood world and the elitist hob-nobbing melbourne world.....

Stuck at home with covid so cant go. Was feeling cautious but after seeing Vicky Park new found confidence i am in. Saw Cam Smith win a major last week. This can be our 3rd major. Ess,Carl,Ess before completeling the grand slam in our final round. Forget what our previous PM pie said "I want to do you slow", lets fry them. By 12 at least, goals of course.

Don’t get too excited during the game. At your age Covid is no joke.

To think that we’re now in control of a potential top 2 finish is crazy. All 5 of our remaining matches are probably 50/50 at best, but to be in control of our own destiny is really exciting.

We are also in control of the destiny of Melbourne Sydney and Carlton! It cuts both ways. Just need to get past the next two tough but winnable games and then the three top eight opponents awAit.

Welcome aboard GC.😄

I may have been a little bit hasty in my confident assessment of our chances, but stuff it, I feel good about us.

P.S. I have Covid too.

Hey All,

Going to my first game since Covid (I just have to see Naicos in action) and I am wondering what the traffic situation is around the MCG these days? Planning to drive to Northcote then Uber into the G, give that 20 mins or an hour or 2 hours? It's a nice day and both teams are in some form so I am expecting a big crowd.

Go Pies!

Why wouldn’t you jump on a train/tram?

The traffic around the G is still ordinary. Especially the last kilometre.
One of the hospitals on Victoria Parsde has $15 Parking (Epworth? Eye and ear?). From there it’s a pleasant 10minute walk through the gardens to the G

I'm thinking about it but last few times I have been to the footy by train (pre-covid), it has been packed, shoulder to shoulder style and I like the comfort of the car.

Good option!
