I watch a lot of Claremont and Zac is very busy but he is a ball butcher. He is not quick or clean enough for AFL
Funny, I remember him dominating legends of the game as a ten year old.

Gone downhill since then?

I don't know, but Daniel Kerr has a handful of recorded hitouts. Does he now count as a pure ruckman? I think he should. The stats don't lie

It was a bit of a rhetorical question, because I assume it is us from this year.

Soon to be eclipsed by us next year if suggestion of some on here to get more.

Johnson over chesser for 1 .

Ginbey and Hewett are fine .

Brander WTF were we thinking

Venables?

So many left field first round picks that went against the grain and group consensus.

Chesser has been a bust for a 1st rounder so far. I still think he can fill that wing position considering how intrurrped his start to his career has been. Give him another full preseason and hopefully we will start seeing something from him next season.
For me the jury is still out on our pick 2 for Ginbey and Hewett. Ginbey has been pretty good but Hewett can't stay on the park.
Brander - Shite pick
Venables was a bad pick, he was unlucky and was going to be pretty good but , Tim English, Todd Marshall, Jordan Ridley, Shai Bolton, Sean Darcy, Tom Stewart all got picked after him.

Because the Crows list manager would need to be huffing paint to even remotely consider giving up their first round draft pick from last year for Sid Draper.

Even with the Barrass first rounder, that gives them less of a return than what they invested in Curtin, so they'd just keep him.

It's only in our minds that they are 'desperate' for Draper. There's zero indication they actually are, especially when they wouldn't take our first rounder this year for Curtin, which would've all but guaranteed Draper for them.

Would only happen if they were star struck by Draper AND Curtin cracked it and demanded a trade.

Even then it would cost 3 plus Hawks 1st.

I've been thinking which is more likely.

Harvey Langford failing in AFL due to his inability to adjust to tempo as a result of having a lack of speed and endurance?

Or

Jagga failing in Afl as a result of having a small frame?

The answer to that question should determine who we should draft at pick 3 if Draper and FOS (lesser extent) are out of question.

Now that I think about it both are probably equal in terms of runs on board. Smillie and Lalor have less runs then those two
Aren't you aware we are giving up pick 3 for Baker 🤪

Record number of racks

Yep, and if they don’t have Curtin currently demanding a trade home, their future planning will be at worst they can ask for Draper if Curtin wants to head back to Perth in future years.

Can't get a game hardly means he's shit.

We gift games to Chesser, and he's not exactly a pinnacle of impressive first rounder at any level.

I'm confident it'll click for Curtin, once they decide on his role. They've given him a bit of the Brander treatment, we know how great that is for a players development.

CurtsTM has a 31D 1 goal game in his 4th SANFL outing. Then backed it up later in the year with a 22D 2 goal game and a 21D 2 goal game later on.

Not every player can be like Brayden Ainsworth and make an impact from day 1.

Would be on brand for West Coast to split pick 3 and we miss out on all 8 of the decent players in the draft.
But we might be able to get a player who could become a midfielder, and address our pressing need! Only for them to never become a midfielder. Come on down Bo Allen.

/no slander on Bo Allen, know nothing about him other than he's a WA boys playing back and midfield.

Chesser was gifted games because we didn't have anyone else in 2023 and because we were trying to prioritise youth at the start of 2024.

Curtin isn't getting games because Adelaide (while they suck) had 23 AFL calibre players so they could allow him to develop in the SANFL and earn his place.

I would love for pick 3 to start in the WAFL next year unless they were an absolute standout in preseason.

I'd expect a pick 3 (unless a key position player), to have a spot in our team round 1.

If some of the moves being talked about come off and Hewett and Long are ready to go round 1, I'm all for making the kid earn their place.

Chesser is the least of our concerns. He’s only 2 season in (I consider the first season a complete write off). He’s been playing in a basket case of a team but he’s still shown something, when senior players can’t even do what they are meant to it’s pretty harsh singling him out. He starts in the WAFL next year & earns his place.

I also thing Long was a big out this year and it really showed how important his role is.

Langford and his Stingrays team were on fire in the opening quarter. Left free to do his thing at stoppage he dominated, generating 4 clearances and getting on the end of other possession chains to drive his team forward as they built a solid lead. He was significantly subdued for the next two quarters as he was assigned a marker at stoppage who fought for front position and to block his run at the footy, and Gippsland lifted overall to fight their way back into the game. Fortunately for Dandenong, Langford was able to again find a way to influence the contest in the final quarter, playing an important role in a tight back and forth tussle that ended with the Stingrays finishing on top.

What’s Langford’s disposal usually like? Looked a bit ordinary there

But it isn't a high commendation. No a mid, not a key forward. Not highly consistent in the SANFL. (A poor mans Trew??) Depth at the right price but thats it.

The problem is can Curtin actually play as an inside mid at AFL level? Does he have the pace / agility?

Crows don't seem to think so. He looks lumbering in the snippets I have seen. Gut feel is that if he was a Bont of Cripps the Crows would have rushed him in unless there are other very serious issues.
