Contract status of all players now fully updated

The AFL paying more than half of Buddy's salary was in the rules as well for a while.

Until everyone else found out.
That’s new to me. Was that to make up for the draft sanctions the AFL slapped them with?

GC can always ask for “Ambassadorial” payments for a player if they really, really need to be bailed out.

There’s been enough posts on our board highlighting all the external benefits certain Vic teams are able to offer players, for them to take a lesser contracts, that we aren’t in a position to offer.

Sh!t our players have to go out and find their own sponsorship deals, and there aren’t any local media gigs at any level here.

I’m sure there are West Coast players that have walked in to some favourable post footy careers, or their parents have been gifted a new you beaut harvester or tractor, office or house, etc.

I'm curious to know how many free kicks your clubs needs to land a premiership ? Eagles got very little assistance in landing 2018 premiership. If Brisbane can't land a premiership this decade with all the academy and father sons then that is a massive under performance. Eagles last 2 flags came from hard work sweat and tears, most of brisbanes success this decade will come from having its hand out.
Father/sons are a luck of the draw thing and whilst Brisbane look set to cash in over the next couple of years I don’t think they’ve currently got any father/sons on their list

I stand to be corrected but I don’t think they’ve got much in the way of academy products on their list either, if any. Certainly not anything in a Sydney or GWS level

Until Fagan arrived they were a basket case and I don’t really think they’ve had the same assistance/leg up the other northern clubs have had

Agree that from this point Brisbane looks his most likely destination.
If so do we then offer Bulldogs 2 for 7 & 11?

Bulldogs would only do that if they were red hot on Busslinger and didn’t want to miss out on him, can’t imagine them caring enough to move up for a midfielder or Cadman, potentially Sheezel but I doubt it

Narkle wouldnt be a bad replacement for the high HFF role we lose with rioli, agressive decent pace, good kick, solid body, was at geelong with kelly and jones.
The knock on Narkle is that he does not run two ways. Good kick - I think not. Go and watch some footage of how he plays

We have a few.

Andrews, Hipwood, Keidean Coleman, Black Coleman (younger brother), Jack Payne (who you ask), Tom Fullerton (who da feck is dat, you say), Carter Michael and Connor McFadyen (now you’re just making names up).

They have that much room in the salary cap?
Apparently. We had some $$$ last trade period, and didn’t sign anyone, so banked it.

We also didn’t ask our players to take a pay cut during covid, so don’t owe any deferred payments. Pretty sure you guys did ask your players to take a 15% pay cut.

Zorko and Gardiner just came off high contracts, and are re-signing for less. (Gardiner still might leave if he finds a better offer).

And McStay is going to Collingwood on a much larger contract than what we’re prepared to offer.

Rich comes off his contract next year, and Zorko will retire next year. Hipwood is our only notable free agent next year.

This article says 7%

Not sure how you managed not to cut anyones pay when the league reduced the salary cap by 9%?

Fk 7 & 11 for 2
If we were offered that we should take it and run

It means we likely miss all of Sheezel, Wardlaw, Cadman and Tsatas bearing in mind one of those will be taken at pick 1 so not available to us anyway

Will leave at least one of Phillipou, Jhye Clarke or Mackenzie available at pick 7

At 11, we then get a crack at the likes of Busslinger, Ginbey or Hewett if we want a WA lad or Hotton, Humphries or one or two others I’ve forgotten

Then we still have 20,26 and 38 to use. If we get the Amon compo pick for Rioli then we also have 27. Package up 38 with one of those 20’s picks to get another pick in the mid teens. Would give us 3 top 20 picks plus another two in the twenties

That’s a good start on the rebuild backing onto Chesser, Hough, Bazzo and Culley

100%, although I think Busslinger will go at 5.

Phillipou and Hewett, McKenzie, Clark or Humphries is better than one of Wardlaw, Sheezel or Cadman imo

If Wardlaw didn’t have severe injury concerns I wouldn’t want to trade down but he does… Sheezel just doesn’t make much sense for us to me and I’d be content with Cadman but am not desperate for him

How much longer can Marco Paparone be debated?

Arrrrgggg....stop making perfectly good reasons as to why we shouldn't keep 2!!

I see someone hard to knock off the footy who get clearances and tackles, i have him better than at least 10 on our list, and with our S&C monkeys we need all the mature body depth we can get so guys like Hough, Chesser, pick 2 etc dont get smashed to bits as teenagers

Narkle would probably be an sps level of a pick up. Very underwhelming
