Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we have to use a 1st round pick in the draft this year?

2022 1st for best available mid in the draft

Future 1st for McDonald

As for English he is ooc now but in 2 years he will be a free agent .

Very much like how port got lycett i would be happy to pay a bit extra cash and no picks for him in 2 years .

ATM I don't think English is a top 20 pick

See if our 2022 R1 pick will be good enough to pick Jackson Broadbent. He is comparable to the 2019 Luke Jackson.

Horse has bolted on Jackson, his worth is way too high! Have to give up too much to get him.

Logan McDonald is the one, came second in 2020 Wafl seniors goalkicking as a 17 year old. He went pick 4 in 2020, and Jye Amiss went pick 8 in 2021. Amiss never played a senior game in the Wafl, McDonald never played a colts game in 2020. It's truly rare for u18 players to play seniors in key positions. He did it with ease. Personally think he would've been pick 1 in 21' draft.

We dont need to pay over the top for any of these players. Oscar Allen was pick 19. Just go through the draft and find our own gem I reckon.

I would have taken him as pick 1 in 2020

Early list changes for mine, if 2022 plans out how it does in my head.

Kennedy (retire)
Hurn (retire)
Shuey (retire)

Nelson (OOC - Doubt he'll do enough to earn another)
Jamieson (OOC - Doubt he'll do enough to earn another)

Trew R (OOC - Doubt he'll do enough to earn another)

Redden stays on the list, as he's actually durable and you can't lose that amount of experience all at once.

In 15 months we are likely to be free of the following salaried
Darling
JK
Hurn
Shuey
Sheppard
Shuey
Redden
Not all on big coin but some would be. I’m thinking over $3 mln

We should be whispering in the ears of a multitude of WA under 22 year old offering serious $$

It will get the likes of Melbourne, Doggies, Brisbane and Port starting to see their cap squeezed. It is our responsibility to get the WA boys unsettled and thinking about coming home or pushing for more $$$$

WA talent - I’d start with the following 10 (I’m likely to have missed some)
1. Robertson at Lions
2. Sharp at Suns
3. Jackson at Dees
4. Warner at Swans
5. Georgiades at Port
6. Rivers at Dees
7. MacDonald at Swans
8. Grainger Barrass at Hawks
9. English at Dogs
10. Naughton at Dogs

Not sure how successful but at least be hurting the opposition lists

Surely we can trade in a player who isn’t from WA too. The Kelly trade has left a bad taste in my mouth about bringing home local players.

SA players should be targeted (like Redden was)
I mean the alternative is living in SA so it's an easy sell

+ Nic Nat will be elsewhere too. Flag chasing.

Who would people rather, Elijah Hewett or George Wardlaw with our top 3 pick??
Based on the football in their bottom age year, it’s tight but I’d go Elijah. He would be our centreman for the next 14 years. Tough, focussed, uncompromising yet with the skills to match it. As I say, it would be a nice decision to have and both kind of tick off my description . I’ve seen Hewitt play a few times where as George has been Covid hidden. It is a question like this that makes the carnival so important
