That was what we were arguing about all last year wasn't it? Those who thought the game plan was the main issue vs those who thought goal kicking accuracy was the main issue.
I had a foot in both camps, Legs

Will be interesting to see what happens with Hunter once he's ready. Think he's best 22 but it's hard to place him somewhere right now. Can't see us changing up what we have on the wings, I think he could play a half forward or half back role. Like how smart he is with the ball and worked hard back defensively when he didn't have it last year.

Boak is still a pretty good player. I remember him tearing Melbourne apart a season or two ago.
If there was one single thing that got us over the line last night, it was the absence of Boak.

Yeah and it is a good type of interesting as well. I don't know if Billings has done enough OR if he has not then he needs to get on his bike. Currently he seems to be the most at danger.

Rivers was fine but just not impacting games like he was last year. 27 of the most bland Rivers possessions ever last night, wouldnt have know he lead the possession count if I didnt look it up. Hated when he fumbled a great Windsor handball back in the corridor during the third quarter. (no lone soldier there, we had a lot of those)

Can’t agree with that. Didn’t know he had 27 but his contest was great, I thought he was clearly our second best.

Petty for Brown is the long term change we need to make but they’re not dropping Brown off that game I think.

They will manage Brown though I feel. I don't know if he has a full season in him.

He is not getting consistently out marked and I feel he is getting that ball to the ground when he can't mark it.

It is the speed hit with both JVR and Brown in the team that worries me. Though they like to use JVR as second ruck but having Brown takes away that best defender. It is a hard call.

Did you guys know last night was his 351st game?

CBF going back through it all tbh, but I'm pretty sure I thought the goal kicking cost us games, but also said the game plan needed tweaking.
Kinda pointless to get all smug about goal kicking accuracy then, hey?

That's why I said the main issue and not the only issue.

Lol wut? It was a clap back at all those who have had cracks at me about the expected score stat who are now also rolling it out.

Not sure if you've got all upset because you thought it was directed at you, but it wasn't.

I am a little concerned with our starts. We've responded in both games, but there's been two games already this season where our opponent has won centre clearance and scored early without us touching the ball

Good win on the road, well played.

Can we borrow Gawn for a few weeks? I can barely remember the last time we had a dominant ruck.
We've been pretty blessed in that department over a few decades now – Stynes, White, Jolly, Jamar, Gawn (plus cameos from Jackson and Grundy).

As long as you don't get fully blown out early I don't mind slowish starts if it means we come home with a wet sail which we've done against the Dogs and Port now.

Yep, 2021 we came home strongly just about every week. 2022 we started games like a house on fire then fell apart, would much rather finish strongly than start strongly.

Gawny's tap work has been really good this year. Last night it was exceptional, kinda reminds me of his 2018 ruck work
I like that he’s belting it into some space again. Doesn’t always work but looks much more 2018

Starting to finally get some behind the scenes stuff again now, even if it's just things like this. Think the media department are finally taking on some feedback.

There has been a noticeable improvement in production quality the past few weeks. Mind you it could only go up after the amateur hour offseason.

Exact same time Clare Pettyfor quit the pies and came to us.
