Bit late but well done on the win guys. Nathan jones has the heart of a lion, clearly had more heart than all the tigers put together.

I enjoyed the team song on your afl website aswell! Ripping stuff. Good to see a club that has struggled, get up.
Thanks mate. I think Melbourne and Richmond are in very similar positions in our improvement, and hopefully we'll both get towards the 8 over the next few years. I'm sick of the Geelongs, Hawthorns and Sydneys winning everything.

Don't forget the Collingwoods too. No wonder Port are most peoples second team at the moment, they are a breath of fresh air in the top 6.

Dont think you'll be seeing us in the 8 anytime soon mate, you'll be way better than us. All we have are recycled duds, you have youth...

There's some Metro trains ad campaign going round at the moment about interstate sides stealing 'our' (Victoria's) cup.
F*** that. I'd rather Port or Freo get up than Hawthorn (ugh) or Collingwood (ew).

Warms my heart to read a Dees fan patronize a Tigers supporter. They finished 5th last year ffs

Was even better reading a tigers supporter whining satin that atleast we were heading up because the tigers crashed already , that we be like a saints supporter going to the tigers and saying well atleast you crashed before you lost 3 GF'S , piss off Whiney tigers supporters

For the last few seasons , telling people i followed the Dees usually got me some sympathetic shit comments . We are earning respect back because the team is having a crack , still a long way to go yet , but the signs are positive .
How good is it to talk about football and its some other club in meltdown ,not ours .
But as the West coast game showed , it can all come crashing down if the guys lose the plot on match day.
I am looking forward to the next bracket of games ,unlike previous seasons when all hope was crushed 10 min into the first match of the year.
But what i am really happy about is we can no longer be called bruise free ,even happier that we are dishing it out too.

There's no doubt we will have a couple or even a few shockers still this year, we have to play Hawthorn and Geelong for example, but as long as the consistency over the season keeps mostly up and we continue improving, it's just massive. And it doesnt feel like a short term fix, it feels long term and gradual.

Geelong just aren't that good. The only thing they really have going for them is the Cattery. They are slipping, they're aging, Stevie J is getting done for his dog acts (a good thing), and well - f--K Geelong. Wonder what they'll do for a sponsor when Ford closes down?

I couldn't agree anymore. It's the 25th season of the AFL. I remember last year some lady called SEN 1116 on grand final day saying she wants Hawthorn to win because they are Victorian. How ridiculous people need to accept it's the AFL it's not victoria vs the rest. Freo or port adelaide for me all the way. The only victorian teams I would love to see win it (other than melbourne) is st kilda (1) ,the doggies (1) or north melbourne (4), which wont be happening for a while.

Some thought I was an idiot for thinking we'd win more than 1, how times change.

I'm copping it for saying we'd go winless.

And loving it.

Yeah that's what everyone said at the start of 2011, then they casually won another flag. Write Geelong off at your peril.

Eventually they'll be right.... they've still got a couple of high quality years left in them though.

Geelong will always be thereabouts, IMO. I doubt they'll spend many years in the bottom rungs of the ladder. Why? They have the best deal out of any side in the competition, with a MASSIVE advantage at Kardinia Park and not much of a disadvantage when they go to the MCG and Etihad. That's taking nothing away from their culture and talent though.

The Stark principle... winter is coming.

This. They have such great culture to go with their fantastic stadium deal (they own the bloody thing) that they will always be steps ahead in that regard. Sure, injuries and old age will eventually catch up with them to a degree, but I can't see them 'bottoming out' like the weaker clubs any time soon. By soon I mean any time in the next two decades.

Very late on it, but well done on the win! Dees song is up there with one of the best in the comp. A lot to be excited about as a dees fan in my opinion, Watts doing some great stuff (from the games i've seen), Jones continuing to show he bleeds red & blue and not to mention the young midfielders coming through

After that round one loss I spoke to fellow depressed Melbourne supporters who had already written off the season. Who are we going to beat? I said there's always a win somewhere, in 08 was the same, but we got a win from 54 down. However the 3 wins we have had were against teams I didn't think we would of beaten. At the start of the year I thought the possible wins were st Kilda, the doggies, gws maybe the gold coast. Certainly not Adelaide in Adelaide, Carlton and Richmond.
