Rowey saying on 5aa that the word is getting stronger and stronger that Gold Coast and Adelaide will do a trade of drat picks on Thursday.

Gold Coast give us pick 2 we use for Lukosius

Adelaide give picks 8, 13 and 2019 first round draft pick.

It just seems too much for me. What do you think?
Too much

What picks do we currently still hold in 2019? And how many do we need to hold at the end of the draft on Friday?

Is this right?

First and Second rounders held.
Third was traded to Carlton.
Fourth ended up a Port.

I wouldn't mind a bid on Quaynor.
I know that Hamish is a big fan but do you bid on him if you know Collingwood will match and it pushes your pick out as a results? I guess we have done it in the past so I would think we would do it again. I think we rank our players in terms of players available (knowing which players the teams will match bids on). We took a chance on Himmelberg but GWS matched and rightly so. Kid can play.

If Rankine is considered a flight risk he will reach Port at 5.
I would rather have GC take him than Port. If he goes to GC, we can possibly get him back in a couple of years. If he goes to Port however we'll never have him.
I have a sneaky feeling though that a pick swap/swaps has been agreed on in principle but we'll have to wait and see on draft night though.

Don't think we bid on Blakey only because Swans gave us 13. Someone else will bid on him early regardless.
Good point. Behind the scenes there will be all sorts of discussions as tactical pick bidding can wipe teams out of the draft. Could a scenario happen where a team offers a better pick trade deal in live trading if a higher ranked team can place a tactical bid that allows others picks to move up the order when another team has to use their picks to bid match?

Dwayne Russel and Craig Coombes have both said there is a victorian club who will potentially rookie list Rankine's brother if they draft Izak. Rookie list or sign to their VFL team. Wonder if Carlton are thinking about taking Rankine pick 1.
Would have to, at minimum, rookie him, as the wage would need to be high enough to justify the move.

But not a bad call by that club if true. His retirement from south at this age is strange.

Does anyone know if he has nominated for the draft?

I've had an aweful time trying to narrow a player for #16 .....that's because IMO, it's going to depend on who we take at #8 and #13 ......I said very early I like Taylor, but #16 maybe a reach? ......will Williams have to be "reached" at #16 ?

But if we take Ben King ....do we take 2 talls with the first 3 picks ??? ......#16 is a dilemna

McLennan at 16

Too much! Plus we can't trade away future 1st because we have traded away future 3rd and future 4th pick.

Geez thats selling the farm. Surely we get something else coming back? Maybe Suns 2nd?

I'd much sooner take the bloke that absolutely destroyed him when he played on him in the TAC Grand Final.....Sam Sturt who could very well be an ideal replacement for McGovern when he broadens up body wise.

Do we really need an undersized intercepting/running defender in Isaac Quaynor? Perhaps he can transition into a midfielder with his strongly built body but that's a bit of an unknown?

Waay too much considering our history in nailing the drafts recently.

For the first time ever we have a chance to set our side up for the next decade without having to bottom out. Imagine for whatever reason he turns out like Watts, Day, McCartin, Boyd, Patton. I'd be ropable.
Something else would have to come back to balance it, but if Luko is is a cut above the rest you'd do it.

If it's a Hamish decision, then I'm fine with it. He'd know if he's worth the cost.

Anyway, we're debating Rowie mail, so I'd say there is no pick swap. Has he ever been right, about anything, ever?

Way way way too much. Luckily Rowey said it so its incredibly unlikely to happen.

I would do 8 & 13 for 2 or 3..... but I bet they wouldnt. Any more than that and it becomes irresponsible to anyone who isnt a Rabbit
