Way way way too much. Luckily Rowey said it so its incredibly unlikely to happen.

I would do 8 & 13 for 2 or 3..... but I bet they wouldnt. Any more than that and it becomes irresponsible to anyone who isnt a Rabbit

Agree.

GCS should, as that would mean they have picks 2,6,8 and 13.

Surely thats a win-win for both clubs? Assuming of course we get Rankine out of this.

Rowey saying on 5aa that the word is getting stronger and stronger that Gold Coast and Adelaide will do a trade of drat picks on Thursday.

Gold Coast give us pick 2 we use for Lukosius

Adelaide give picks 8, 13 and 2019 first round draft pick.

It just seems too much for me. What do you think?
I’m OK with that. We would be getting GC 2019 3rd and 4th to make the trade legal, and probably 29 as they probably wouldn’t use it anyway.
If the club rate Luko that high I’ll back them all the way.

I might go a bit further and include a swap of picks (eg. 21 for 24 or 29 if I am really desperate for a player). Otherwise its getting stupid!

Rowey just drumming up the interest in the show. If we were offering what he said we are, well, we are definitely selling the farm.

Enormous, monumental overs

Agree we cant say that we will back the Club in who they get and then be upset if they trade aggressively picks 8,13 etc to grab Luko.

It would HAVE to include 29 or weve made a catastrophic error of judgement.

Rowey saying we’re willing to give 8, 13 and 2019 1st for 2 (Lukosius)

Surely not, although I think Luko is the best prospect in the draft that’s a hefty price
Cannot happen Gold Coast do not have a 2019 4th rd pick, to give back to the Crows.
Crows will need a 2019 3rd and 4th rd pick back in order to trade the 2019 1st

Do we have to hold a certain number of picks in the 2019 draft at the end of this draft?

Can someone explain the rules on that?
It's like any other Draft ...all the rules are there for is to stop clubs being irresponsible and trading away all future picks .....I've said a few times, you can get dispensation & given we've got essentially 4 x 1st round picks this year, the AFL is hardly going to be concerned at the Crows trading next years 1st

That said, if we do, all we have to do, as part of that deal, is to get a 3rd round pick in return

I still say thats bollocks.

AFL want live trading. AFL have made up rules on the fly. We have picks coming out of our arse.

Not being able to trade a future first because we traded our future pick 50 is unnecessarily restrictive.

Firstly ....we know that Rowe doesn't have any inside word ! .....that was proven in the Trade Period, yet again

That is way too much ......would I do #8, #16, and next years 1st ? .....nope, wouldn't do it, no player is worth that much

Other than the fact it makes the trade ridiculously lopsided. If Reid and Co do this then one can safely assume they've had a glass of Birdman Koolaid.

No, my post was in no way related to the Rowe rumor ....it was a separate question about how many picks do we have to hold next year

I'd much sooner take the bloke that absolutely destroyed him when he played on him in the TAC Grand Final.....Sam Sturt who could very well be an ideal replacement for McGovern when he broadens up body wise.

Do we really need an undersized intercepting/running defender in Isaac Quaynor? Perhaps he can transition into a midfielder with his strongly built body but that's a bit of an unknown?
How old is Brown ? .....sounds like another Stiffy Johncock

Landsberger has us taking Caldwell, RCD and Ned McHenry, as well as a lot of bids, I'd be okay with that

COLLINGWOOD could be cornered into using picks from next year’s draft to secure running machine Isaac Quaynor and father-son gem Will Kelly.

Adelaide is set to spoil the Pies’ party by placing early bids and sending Collingwood into draft points deficit for the first time under the AFL’s new bidding system.

Collingwood has picks 41, 44, 51 and 57 in this year’s draft but will faces a points shortfall if Adelaide bids as early as No.8 or 13 for Quaynor.

To make up the deficit, the Magpies would have to take a hit in next year’s draft and shuffle its second-round pick down the order.

They have already traded away their first-round pick in next year’s draft as part of the Dayne Beams deal.

Adelaide could then double-up by bidding its No.21 pick on Kelly, who’s older brother Jake has played 53 games for the Crows.

The Crows are also expected to bid their No.8 pick on Sydney’s Nick Blakey and have a history of playing the villain by bidding early draft picks to keep clubs honest.

Geelong (No.12) could make a similar move and bid on North Melbourne academy star Tarryn Thomas.

The Cats also like big-bodied onballer Jackson Hately as they start to plan for life after Joel Selwood.

Western Bulldogs are considering making the first live trade under the AFL’s new rules and swapping their No.7 selection for a pair of first-round picks.

The Dogs are confident they can secure Vic Metro midfield star Bailey Smith with a pick in between No.7-11 and want to then draft a second player before matching a bid for father-son onballer Rhylee West.

Non-Victorian clubs are set to pass on Smith but the Bulldogs must snap him up before Geelong enters the draft at No.12.

Smith and 202cm swingman Ben King toured the Dogs’ Whitten Oval facilities on Tuesday.

Barring a last-minute backflip, St Kilda is expected to take the plunge on 202cm spearhead Max King at No.4, leaving twin brother Ben available for Gold Coast at No. 6 as a Steven May replacement.

St Kilda football manager Simon Lethlean said King was “an unbelievable athlete for his size”.

The Saints will draft six players and are set to use a late pick on Collingwood VFL key defender Tom Jok.

Hawthorn is circling Liam Stocker and Jack Gunston-clone Noah Gown late in the draft order.

The Hawks are slated to enter the draft at No.53 and would have to trade their way up the order to land Stocker, who is tipped to go in the top 25.

AFL discards Mav Weller, Corey Wagner and Keegan Brooksby yesterday withdrew from the draft to sign as rookies under a new league ruling.

Former Roo Wagner will join Melbourne, ex-Saint Weller is headed to Richmond and SANFL ruckman Brooksby, who played 14 games for Gold Coast, is off to West Coast.

They reckon we'll put bids in for Blakey, Quaynor and Will Kelly. In the end we get Caldwell, Collier-Dawkins and McHenry from the 1st round.
Good gets IMO.

No one has anyone making a successful pick trade though.

That’s the point isn’t it. We all rate Hamish, but If he thinks Luko is that good then great, let’s back him in. His judgement has proved sound so far.
