I think you overestimate the bed wetters in the fanbase. How many tanties were thrown about Doedee before he played?
And yet we didn’t waiver and he is the better player for it. We would be the same with Luko.
I actually think he would play a fair bit next year anyway.

Hard to see where though, unless we have injuries.

It certainly is a hefty price. But to be fair, if you are ever going to pay massively for 1 recruit, then Rankine or Luko this year is the time you would do it. We could wait 20 more years before we have a similar chance to get an SA kid of this quality.
Didn't someone say Jack Watts was a one in a generation player. Not worth excess on a 18yo not playing AFL but against 18yo. You pay that type of price on a Judd,Buckley or Roo.

He is a once in a generation player. Never has a player copped so much over his career.

“We’ve looked at all the options. Whether we go up much higher, I’m not sure, but there’s always a possibility so we’re open when that phone call comes, and some have already come, to how that looks,” he said.

Interesting that we have received calls. Everyone seems to think that any trade that occurs would be on Adelaide or Port’s initiative, this would suggest however that there are clubs above us in the order seeing the benefit of trading down. I’ve felt this is likely right through, especially with Carlton.
If Carlton, with the state of their list currently, come out of a really high quality draft with just one 68kg kid, then they are never going to improve.

No one expected anything from Doedee, he had no hype whatsoever. The expectations on Lukosuis are going to be MASSIVE.
All true footy fans understand that any key forward take a few years to reach their potential. Roughy and Franklin were very average for their first 30 games. I honestly think the supporter base will be patient with him. If he is struggling after 3 years then the drums would be beating however.

Rowey saying on 5aa that the word is getting stronger and stronger that Gold Coast and Adelaide will do a trade of drat picks on Thursday.

Gold Coast give us pick 2 we use for Lukosius

Adelaide give picks 8, 13 and 2019 first round draft pick.

It just seems too much for me. What do you think?

They would have to give us a 2019 2nd AND 3rd back iirc in order for the AFL to allow it. If the club decides to do that, I would have no hesitation in backing them. Sounds like too high a price to me though.

And there's a mountain of quality in Caldwell, Butters, McHenry and O'Halloran make no mistake right there.
No doubt and Caldwell would be a fantastic get but I'd be really hoping one of those taken before 13 slips through.

If those are our first two picks, I will need to excuse myself on Thursday night! Excitement will be too much to handle! :D
You and me both .... that’ll be a great result

I’m OK with that. We would be getting GC 2019 3rd and 4th to make the trade legal, and probably 29 as they probably wouldn’t use it anyway.
If the club rate Luko that high I’ll back them all the way.

Not as bad with those added back. I still think it’s too high, but the key difference being that at the moment this is another fantasy trade made up by us or the media. Once it became real, I would assume Hamish has given the deal the ok. In that case, I’ll be backing Hamish and the club that the trade stands up. But as a hypothetical we give up too much. 8 is going to be a gun player and so is 13.

Suns are missing their 2nd and 4th round picks next year. Unless they're willing to give us Brisbane's 1st rounder (which would likely be a downgrade for them) it seems it's an impossible trade unless the AFL sign off on breaking their rules.
