Messi was unbelievable this morning and that 2nd goal by Alvarez was world class.

Argentina France would be a quality match up, and whilst I want France to win it all I wouldn't be put off by Messi winning it - the only trophy he doesn't have

From an English fan’s perspective what combination for a World Cup final is worse than Argentina (recent history) v France (centuries of history)?
I would have put Germany in there except I know the English response to the German chant of “Three World Cups” is “Two World Wars and one World Cup”.
Which is brilliant, and thus disqualifies Germany.

It's going to be a bit dicey here after this match whoever wins. Morocco won a hard-fought war of independence from France in the 1950s, there's a huge Magreb population in France who are sadly overrepresented in urban housing commissions and the cultural gap has widened since 9‐11 and the rise of the hard right. They are loud and proud in general, and though they have integrated well, it's really like many other migrant communities - yes, including Anglo ones for those who would be tempted to think otherwise.

In my city after Saturday's win, they had to suspend the tram services because many Moroccan fans were dicking about in the streets and parading up and down the tramlines. Who the hell knows what will happen if they beat their European ex-overlords, but it may get ugly if they lose. Or not, I'm about to find out.

Yeah, I went out to a couple of suburban flea markets outside Paris and they seemed 99% North African in the big tower estate areas. Paris has a glossy old city full of tourists and white people and the real Paris sits just outside that bubble. It sounds like a bit of a flash point. Stay safe.

Don't worry about me mate I'm nowhere near Paris. Anyway now the match is over it'll be fine, no injustices, cheating or dangerous fouls. No need for anyone to fight or be outraged. Morocco will lick their wounds and remember the tournament as a positive moment and rightly so.

Will be a good final. Hope France win it but would be fine seeing Messi solidify himself as the greatest ever with a win.

Game is on at 2am Monday morning (Vic time)

Your boy Konate was good this morning
Thought so too. Only reason I'm supporting the French, otherwise it'd be Argentina all the way. Still, don't particularly mind either way and think it'll be a good final.

You've got trams, sounds like Bordeaux, I like that town.

I was in Bordeaux when France won the Euro 2000 final 2-1 against Italy after scoring a late equaliser and then scoring the winner in extra time.

The whole place went crazy with celebrations, they were the reigning World Cup champions back then too so a good time to be a French football fan.

I'll be barracking for them in the final against Argentina, it would be an incredible achievement for them to go back to back with all their injured players.

France win a penalty for a handball in the 116th minute and Mbappe slots the penalty - second man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.

Unbelievable. 3-3.
