Autopsy Freo outclassed by the Crows

Everyone on here knows I've been JL's biggest supporter.

But, you're right. Can't keep rolling out that forward line and expecting it to be suddenly elite.

Not sure what the answer it, but I'd start with changing up the personnel.

If we don't try something soon, the season will be a bust before the bye.
Personnel are the easiest thing to tinker with. I don't think it will turn up a solution.

We seem to have wasted a preseason: Totally failed to create any midfield-forward cohesion, and for good measure we have stifled our defense.

Why would we not wish the ultimate success for a team we love?I'd love to get to a place where I could be satisfied with the little wins and only that

What rubbish.

It's more than a game and if you feel otherwise you're not a true supporter.

Define 'more than a game'? It's my number 1 hobby but it's not that important in the grand scheme of things.

I'm pretty content I've reached a point in my life where my happiness doesn't rely on the performance of 22 underachieving people I'll never meet. Freo success would be a nice bonus that I'll always wish for, but I'm not going to let things out of my control affect me too deeply.

Sturt needs to be given a chance, I know that we all hammer that home every week but it's the truth, he hasn't been given a real run at it, and now is the time to do it.

You sir are a wise man

We thought JL was the answer and would lead us to the promised land. We were WRONG.

Now we’re stuck for years with a totally unimaginative coach who doesn’t react even when we’re being flogged.

We’re going backwards at a breath taking rate!
When ever the telecast cuts to JLo in the box hes either got a deadpan expression or chewing his nails. Be nice to see him communicate with the bench by phone every now and then... Heres an even better idea go down to the bench to lead from the front... starting to really pee me off.

I’ve only started to feel this way the last couple of seasons. This year I’m ready to let it go. I will still support Freo but it will no longer be my number 1 hobby priority.

We might but who do you get to coach???
Yze?
I'm planning on living another 40-60 years and I've already given up on ever seeing a premiership.

I'll just enjoy the little week-to-week wins as they come. Or even the game-to-game goals Amiss kicks.

Hello to Freo's first ever 120 year old supporter...

Anyone got a description of how we got our 4th Goal? Believe it was credited to Amiss but there was no vision on it on the Ch 7 replay and it doesn't show up in the game highlights.

Who did you support before freo

Jackson is an enigma. He’s really shorthanding the forward line.
Tabs, Treacy, Amiss can work but then you plonk Jackson there.

No one has even addressed the horrific small/medium forward depth.
Apart from Walters, it lacks any dare or creativity. Shultz is a workhorse, Switter is a runner. Nothing else outside of that. How the **** is Banfield getting games in that forward line.

Time to throw in Corbett, Sturt. Jackson needs to be a full time mid or bench. Can’t believe all last season not once did Meek and Darcy play together back to back weeks yet Jackson in changes it all.

Changes galore. It’s only 1-3, teams are still losing- Sydney, Brisbane, Geelong. Time to arrest it fast and change tack.

Probably. But, after today it seems like any work we did on gameplan, tactics etc we'd be just shuffling deckchairs.

We don't have the cattle.

I personally can’t see Treacy in the same Fwd line with Tabs. Too lumbering for mine and not great at all ground level. Treacy has gone backwards. Tabs is done ✅.

You make a good point regarding Jackson. He somehow needs to be fitted in. Not sure if it’s midfield. It has to be out of the goal square crashing packs and doing his best. Lots of work needs to be put into his craft.

Would like to see Sturt/Corbett in and we just keep playing Amiss throughout the year.

I see Switta more as mid/impact player around the ground.

Freddy/Walters are the only ones currently who have any X factor. Shultz is just an honest player who stands out in losses ( like today and the Collingwood final) as he always plays that hardworking role and kicks his 2 or 3.

No, I've just been a Freo supporter for too long.

Have you ever heard about heirloom linen sheets that have been worn down from burlap roughness to silky smoothness from generation to generation?

That's me, except Freo have worn me down in less than a lifetime.
If we made a GF again I think you'd ride the highs and lows of the game just like we did last time, it just feels a long way off.

I deliberately chose not to watch this game and instead listen as I worked in the garden, but eventually got sucked in by the third quarter to watch it, even though we were getting pounded. I no longer care to watch every game of AFL I can the way I did 10-15 years ago, but this is more a consequence of realising it was a waste of precious time. I think footy should return to every game at 2pm on Saturday. Would make life a lot easier.

Jackson just seems afraid to do that. He plays like a small forward jumping at the ball when in the 50. He should be charging down the ball and smashing packs. Tabs ain’t that.

Amiss hasn’t been bad but he’s still so raw. 1 or 2 goals here and there is about right for his development.

Really missed Fredrick today. Banfield probably will stay, which is a soft call by Jl. Would love to see Sturt and Fredrick in the same team.

Much better to enjoy the odd win, try to ignore the losses and enjoy the game. I often enjoy watching neutral games more because of the lack of emotional involvement.

At the end of the day it’s entertainment and if you don’t like the show spend your entertainment dollars on something else.

This is whats called 'acceptance - the final stage of grief'. I was in the first, 'denial' stage for the Saints and Kangaroos. I sincerely admire your mature approach and honestly need to remind myself of this more often when meandering between 'anger' and 'bargaining'.
