Autopsy Freo outclassed by the Crows

It really was a gutless performance today.

There just seems no passion or intensity atm with anything we are doing.

I don't know where we go from here.

All the hard work and respect we gained back from last year has been lost in 4 weeks.

We lack a killer instinct mentality as a football club. Even when we win we generally don't bury the opposition like premiership teams do.

I dunno maybe 32 year old Taberner will do something that assists a goal.
That’s what Fremantle trying to base 3 first round picks and millions off on.
Jackson is a clear talent. Taberner is not. They both have the same number of goals for the season, but despite Jackson being 8 years younger and not a key forward, he is the disappointment.

Meanwhile, Taberner ... lmao. He's a rookie lister who sucks! This is like backing in Kingsley Hunter.

If we had persisted with Ryan Murphy there would have been posters insisting he was our best key forward.

To be fair, if he could have kept producing like he did in 2006 (IIRC) then he very well could have been second best to Pav.

Henry - Wow have I seen enough of this bloke pulling on a Freo guernsey - he NEEDS to be dropped and unless he’s dominated every Peel game over the course of a month he can stay far away from AFL level. A 3 week overdue omission. No more freebies.

Unfortunately I think we’ve been a bit seduced by talent. We’ve let go of role players who we didn’t value as highly as we should have in Acres, Logue, even Tucker, and traded in JOM who we assumed could just replace what Mundy brought to the team. You see St Kilda who’ve been cruelled by injuries and don’t have the talent that half the teams in the comp have - but their being drilled in classic RTB style: play your role and work your ass off. And it’s working.

We’re also seeing our usually reliable guns in Brayshaw, Pearce, Ryan, Young really struggling for form - we’re not going to be winning many games if all these guys aren’t playing up to their standards.

And If Brodie and JOM can’t coexist in the same team then we’ve made a huge mistake trading him in. Brodie was on fire last year and needs to regain that form, if that’s at the expense of JOM then so be it.

Bell and co got cocky. Acres leaving was stupid. 26, improving. Literally just backed a skinny unproven Henry over him.
Logue.. tough one. Actually think him and Cox would’ve been alright, as Pearce is a liability

Never wanted Logue to leave if obey for his ability to shut down Charlie curnow. Watch him kick 6 on us now
Jeremy cameron another that Logue had the measure of

My anger is slowly being replaced by embarrassment, embarrassment that I expected better this season. It was clear this was the weakest forward line we’ve had, what exactly did I expect?

Serong good, all Henry’s weapons are reliant on youth, if he’s not up for it now , he won’t get there later.

The blame for the current state or affairs lies squarely at those who have been in charge of our trades and list management. I’m not ready to quit on the coach yet or the players, we’ve done reasonably well with drafting.

It was literally the entire argument for paying 900k and 2 firsts. Unless you count "he could be anything". Nobody could point towards a range of good performances or stats because he didn't have any.

People are right that he could be anything, which includes an absolute potato and a worse trade than Croad.

And then we top it off with JOM, who had demonstrated an ability over 10 years to be not that good.

Anytime I hear Walls say "we've liked him for a long time" I'm going to curl up in a ball from now on. Our drafting remains good but our trading and overall list management is diabolical.

David Mundy and Will Brodie.

You can’t blame those fellas when you are getting 70-80 likes per post

It’s a drug
We looked a million bucks playing against ourselves. We thought at the time it was because we are good but turns out it’s because we are shit.

Banfield was quite effective today. Reality is he outperformed Walters who couldn’t get near it. Walters has runs on the board and a quiet game happens from time to time. I actually thought Banfield looked strong. You couldn’t drop him after that game. There were 10 players worse than him. I was wondering if we could chuck him in the middle to protect Brayshaw / Serong, because Aish and JOM certainly weren’t.

Henry was terrible, only a smidge above the West Coast game, where he put in an all time worst performance, despite being on the winning side.

JOM provides so little chase in the middle. He gets caught holding the ball an extraordinary amount of times. His awareness is quite atrocious. Anyone who spits stats at me about clearances can slap themselves in the face. How many score involvements? How many possessions chains was he involved in? He doesn’t move the ball on in a positive manner. His clearances are hacks, takes very little ground, provides no overlap, the latter is quite damning. The Adelaide midfielders work inside their own forward 50 to lock the ball in, our midfielders do not. Serong, Aish, JOM, Henry, all jog between the 50’s. Watching the Adelaide push up and down the field was insightful. Only Brayshaw has an AFL level work rate in our midfield. It’s quite damming.

In: Johnson, Erasmus, Treacy, Frederick, Brodie, Sturt

Out: Taberner, JOM, Henry, Wilson, Young (looks injured), NoD (to sub)

Schultz Treacy Walters
Sturt Jackson Amiss
Frederick Serong Hughes
Ryan Cox Aish
Clark Pearce Walker

Darcy Brayshaw Brodie

Int: Johnson Erasmus Switkowski Banfield

Tossed up Hughes or Young as an out, went with Young, Young looks injured or hampered, I think he broke some ribs in that contest against the Eagles.

Acres also. Big body around the ground.

Acres was the dumbest decision of the lot. We offered him peanuts and he just wanted an extra peanut or 2. He wanted to stay at Freo. He was clearly a much improved player. To have the arrogance that “oh we have loads of wing options anyway” and to categorically prove within 4 weeks that we absolutely do not, and we could have had a very good wingman with just some very basic, competent list management.

It’s quite amazing how smug everybody got after a 6th placed finish. A club like Geelong would’ve considered last season a failure. They changed their slow-slow gameplan that bought them multiple top 4 finishes because it wasn’t good enough to win it all. But everyone at Freo puffs out their chest when we make a SF (and lose it in exactly the same fashion we’ve been losing all our games this year, but they were too busy patting each other on the back to worry about that at the time).

Mundy seems puzzled that we let go of him cause pf the talented Erasmus and Johnson..yet playing bust Henry and foot soldier Hughes.

Another year, another Freo. Don't know why anyone is surprised. Too much drama over the off-season. Bad for culture. Needs a footy department review.

He’s right, I think we all assumed those guys would be in line for those open spots. So either they are busts or the coach doesn’t have the backbone to give them a chance.

What media platform does Mundy have btw, I’ve been avoiding afl media this year
