I’ve also switched off from caring. Shame as I was really looking forward to seeing us play live for the first time in years vs the Hawks in a few weeks.

I can’t care anymore. It’s not fair to my wife, kids and dog for me to be shitty all weekend because some idiots halfway around the world can’t get their shot together.

I will say this though, JL has to go.

I'm not as down on the coaching as others in terms of game plan (team selection is another matter entirely). You can see we are trying to move the ball but piss poor execution and decisions time and again cause us to **** it up. When it works it looks good. The problem is that it doesn't work as often as it should. We need players in the side with speed and skills. People seem to expect us to move it quick when every player on the ground is in front of the ball and there is no space. The only way to get through that is to go slow and chip it until you can create the space to move the ball.

Basic skill errors are the biggest plague. Forwards can't hold marks and the delivery is as bad as it has ever been. Not even Pav in his prime could make it look halfway decent. If the forwards could hold their marks I'd argue we would have at least 3 wins and could very well be undefeated.

The backline is a problem. Pearce has been absolute shit all season and Cox and Ryan aren't going much better. The amount of shit goals we have given up is a real worry. What makes it worse is that we have nobody to bring in if it continues.

If I never see Hughes on the field again I will be a happy man. The guy is shithouse. I don't give a shit about giving great effort. He is playing on the wing. It is not his job to give great effort.

I have been a Henry supporter but I have reached my limit. He has to go. Poor skills and too slow to make a decision. He has cost too many goals at both ends over the last 2 games.

We are at the point where Sturt, Johnson, and Ras need to be in the side and stay in the side. Hell, we might as well give Worner or Wagner a run. They can't do any worse than others in the side at the moment.

I would love to know what assessment opposition teams make of our forward line when scouting us. Do they just look at each other in astonishment, dumbfounded by how collectively clueless we are in the arts of making space, leading, getting to dangerous spots, etc?

Yep, opposition teams don't need to give it any assessment or thought at all. There is no system, no connection between the midfielders and forwards and no space. Just sit back and watch the calamity.

Alright I'm excited for this one

  • Alex Pearce is bad. Like at least 70% of Adelaide's scores would've come from him. I'm sure he seemed like the right choice for captain after stepping in for Fyfe all of last year but WOW he's awful. Contrast that with Dawson from Adelaide and wow.
  • Henry. Can't believe we were happy to let Acres walk for nothing just to give Henry a chance on the wing. He's shown enough. Every possession he has he *s it up. Let him walk to melbourne or wherever he wants. He's done here. Should not be gifted another game.
  • Banfield was the only forward trying today. Crazy what happens when you're made to earn your spot.
  • Taberner gives us nothing. I don't care that he got two goals. He can't hold a mark to save his life even if he's getting it infront of his man. Also gave away about 5 free kicks down the line.
  • On the forward line, how many *ing times did we get it in there to have only Tabs and Darcy there. Adelaide were able to walk it out so easily.
  • Why did we only start trying to play through the corridor at the start of the third when we were already down 6 goals. Looks like JL reserves it for trying to dig ourselves out of holes rather than actually playing to win. Oh and the fact that we seemed to stop doing that as soon as Brayshaw made one mistake. FFS.
  • Our defence as a whole looked so slow and tired. No effort from most of the guys. Thought Clark was the only one who seemed to try.
  • Don't know what we've done to Hayden Young. He was so good last year. Liability today.
  • Aish couldn't pick up a ball to save his life.
  • Walker tried to take it on with his run and carry. He'd keep his spot.
  • Felt like JOM does nothing but apparently he had 9 clearances. Don't see his value over Brodie though. Trading for him was a mistake.
  • Hughes was fine. Don't agree with calls for him to be dropped.
The thing I would love to understand the most is why we only seem to start taking the game on when we're several goals down already. Want to see a whole lot of personnel changes this week but I know ultimately it won't matter because the coach has no idea. I don't even know who comes in/out for this one but Henry is a non-negotiable.
Taberner is the only key forward that has been taking marks though.

Probably the most disappointing loss of the Longmuir era IMO - just straight up regressed on all the things we did do well last week. No accountability for the same usual suspects with the same bog average skill errors they've been committing across the first four rounds.

Need a structural change-up up forward: if they're going to persist with Tabs leading to insane spots and disappearing up the ground, they need to bring in one of the mid-size marking options (Corbett, Sturt or a fit Fyfe - christ, would take Sebit atm just to offer SOMETHING different) to be a third target. But Tabs should be done.

Johnson should start and play a full game, get Erasmus in, start Jackson up the ground similar to last week.

Hughes/Banfield/Wilson - while the first two were marginally better today, they all continue to be amongst the worst offenders for the fumbling and skill errors and we know they're not going to improve: why persist?

I couldn't watch the game fortunately, anyone care to give a brief summary of what went wrong?

That's our problem.

Taberner is simultaneously our only solution and our biggest problem.

He's our best key forward - that is a fact - but what are our alternatives?

I don't think I've ever seen a coach turn a fanbase as apathetic as Longmuir has made us. Under Lyon when we were bad people were angry and at least looked hopeful towards the future.

With Longmuir, all I see is people losing their enjoyment, not caring anymore.
He’s too busy biting his nails and trying to win staring contests with other statues.

What should have been a hard fought 2-3 goal win on balance of play to Adelaide turned into a 45 pt belting due to the gap in talent between both forward lines.
