Yes. With Collingwood you kinda know what you're gonna get (last year's prelim excepting). We tend to match up closely with Collingwood too, but NN gives us a clear edge I believe. How much can NN add if we meet you again in the PF? Bias aside for the sake of football a Tigers Eagles PF would be a real boon.
Get win over cats then talk about eagles & tigers!

Hang on for just a minute. Hawthorn had some silly losses, but they were generally super competitive throughout the year. Other than the mighty Eagles they also took care of Collingwood, GWS and....... Geelong!!!! Had results gone their way I dare say the Hawks could have been a September surprise package.
Wow too xtreme !

You’ve rocketed into favouritism with the bookies on the back of the Rioli news.

Eagles with their backs up against the wall here, going to take a hell of a performance under the circumstances.
What language you use!! Cats rocketed to favouritism, backs against the wall, hell of a performance ! Give me a spell! Rioli played well last week, but has played about a half a dozen good games in his career. He came back to pre season overweight. He is average! And experienced eagles will focus on the job at hand.
Dear me!

Rioli would've been useful but not a massive out imo. Petch has made a lot of errors under pressure but feel he's due for a big one.

It has, but before the Rioli news broke yesterday, both teams were equal favourites at $1.80. Then there is the whole Tim Kelly having the flu and SEN are running with Dangerfield being out with sore ribs.
Nah WC was $1.80 Geelong $2.00 prior to Rioli news

Neither team have been overly reliable this year, have dropped some really winnable games and choked. Feel we're generally more solid and competitive in finals though.
I think the last month or so the cats have been ok. Big wins over North and Carlton with a somewhat unlucky loss to Brisbane. Nothing overly special either way. Last week was poor but it’s a very typical cats loss - off the bye in finals at the G against an MCG tenant.
I feel like compared to the eagles, the cats are just a bit more predictable.
They've not put out many 4 or even just 3 quarter performances this year. There's no doubt their best is good enough - I saw it first hand against us in the 1st quarter - but they can't rely on 1 good quarter. I also think the whole Rioli situation (hope I'm allowed to refer to it as long as it's game-specific) adds to that. There's 4 things that could feasibly happen
1) The players already knew (given Rioli was informed weeks ago) - minimal impact
2) The players use the case to galvanise them and returns the hunger that has seemed to be missing a bit this year
3) The players are emotionally affected by it and perform worse
4) The players didn't already know but it doesn't affect them
Assign whatever probabilities to those, I'm no psychological expert, but it's clearly a bit of an unknown.

The cats aren't ultra consistent either - but I think they're more consistent. Ultimately I don't think I'd be surprised by any margin either way tonight.

Yeah the alternating LWLWLWL record is more indicative of the fact they've struggled to win away from Geelong. I suspect fatigue play a role. Away from Kardinia they can't play their super defensive style to choke teams, and teams find space and run and get past em. The bruising encounter against Collingwood would have taken a bit out of them.

I don't think it'll have a big impact/may galvanise us a bit. We usually perform well under adversity. We've got everything to play for, I can't see any good reason we won't give it 100%. Effort should not be lacking, no excuses.

Due to the Rioli factor and people believing WC will come out flat now...doubtful given the fact the team is actually stronger than 12 months ago even without Rioli
Do you ever tire of making excuses. Your entitlement knows no bounds.

I'm confident he can carve it up in the centre. But our forwards still need to do their job.
I wouldn't be. He's one of the most overrated players in the game imo.

NN is quality as a tap ruckman no doubt, but he isn't great around the grounds as he is slow now and has no fitness base. Stanley isn't much chop either but I reckon his fitness and speed will just smash NN. We just need our mids to read NN's taps better.

Someone on SEN rang thru and said Danger will be a late out due to sore/broken ribs. If true I'd still give him a jab and play him in the forward line.
It's fake. Like most of the stuff written in the media these days. Made up to create talking points.

I don't believe he's that great in the ruck either. I remember watching a young Esava Ratugolea take him to the cleaners last year in Perth when pitted together.

Stanley has the leap and pace to trouble him.

You wouldn't want to lose this game if you were Chris Scott, I dare argue it would be the beginning of the end for him if he loses this game (He will survive till 2020, but will bow out sometime during next year)

Possibly Gazza's final game too (although I think he goes around again in 2020)

But as i say, another limp finals exit starts the Chris Scott exiting Geelong process.
