Well to be honest i thought at 3 quarter time neither of these team are winning the flag....

Sure Richmond went on a run but they were turnover central for 3 quarters, no way adelaide or Sydney let them get away with that in a GF

It was a fugly game! Richmond looked better, but only because we were just so crap!

Scratching my head to remember a worse Final, although that Final we lost to Freo at the G was pretty horrendous.

For a player that was as physically imposing as Chris Scott was, it's disappointing that the style of footy he has implemented in his teams as a coach is the antithesis of what he was as a player. I don't understand why Geelong is constantly found wanting when our opponents apply high intensity pressure, and it happens again and again in finals. It's a complete mystery to me, especially as it doesn't require footballers to be highly skilled, even 'spuds' should be able to apply high intensity/pressure footy.

The absurd thing is we played exactly the same opponents with the same pressure missing some of our best players only a month ago and handled it fine. What is it about finals that magically makes basically all our players spontaneously shit the bed?

I can't get over how many dropped chest marks and shanked kicks we had.

In a game where there was only 5 goals kicked to half time, menzel could have been the difference.

I know hindsight is grand (and I didn't complain) but it was the wrong decision

Our biggest issue tonight was everytime the ball hit the deck in our forward line everyone was out of position and Richmond defenders streamed away clear. How would the worst defensive player in the team have helped? If anything tonight emphasised for me why Menzel shouldn't have been in the team and to be honest I don't think he should be again (unless he can change that area of his game a lot and I doubt it). Part of the problem is everytime we play flood teams we stubbornly keen picking our best players on paper with no thought to structure rather than pick a team specifically to counter that gameplan. Again and again.

Congrats to the Tigers - played finals footy, which we haven't done in years.

Cam going off injured really let Dusty off the leash with no going back. His brother went OK, but needed to kick that goal for any momentum push.

The MCG makes us far too slow, especially when you rely on Taylor covering ground up forward. Changes needed to be made at the start of the 4th, but zilch.

Motlop and his disposal a disgrace, Menegola weak as piss again in a final, Joel battled but obviously not right, Danger trying to do too much not knowing less is sometimes more.

Hard to see us re-group after tonight's woeful display both on the field and in the coach's box.

Often tonight I saw a player run towards the ball, stop, prop and wait for the opposition to collect the ball to then tackle.
HUNT THE ****ING BALL!
I can only think of 4 players who genuinely hunt the footy all the time, Dangerfield, the 2 Selwoods and Cocky. Outside that none that do it consistently.
Back in 2009 you'd be hard pressed to think of 1 who didn't...

I can't believe what I just watched. That was truly awful. The way we rolled over in the last quarter and turned into witches hats just beggars belief. Richmond just wanted it way more than us. Thats possibly the worst final I've seen us play. They were all over us like a cheap suit for the whole game and we just folded like a deck of cards.

There needs to be some serious soul searching this week because some of our players are just absolutely soft as butter when it comes to the crunch. I know its only one game but seriously that was really a pathetic, insipid effort. Seriously can anyone tackle Martin?? He had it on a string in that last quarter. What makes it worse is the incessant, obnoxious bias coming from the commentators and media. You would think they have won the flag already the way they are carrying on.

Its going to take one hell of a gutsy , turnaround next week to restore some pride. I really hope the boys feel the burn this week and come out all guns blazing because anything less is a slap in the face to all the supporters. They need to decide how much they love this club and give next week everything they have got.

In the end our team realized it did not have the forwards skillful enough to kick or create goals. **** tackles. We needed goals. When our boys realized that, they crumbled.

Well we saw Selwood hunt the ball and get a free kick against..... for that below the knees bullshit.

Even with Menzel/Cocky/McCarthy etc we would've lost that's how disgraceful we were.
