Rubbish. If it weren't for the draft Matthew Lloyd might be a carlton champion. There'd be no such thing as rebuilding as we currently know it. Riewoldt would be playing for Brisbane and BJ & probably Hamill too would still be at Carlton. The league ladder would be COMPLETELY different and your beloved saints would probably sitting on the bottom or near to it.
Carlton need $$$'s from the AFL. They are learning to do what they're told.Originally posted by MarkT
Pretty simple to solve this hypothetical. Open the competition up and see what happens. see if St.Kilda or Carlton or whoever gets these players now that we are all better educated in player spotting via better structure etc. I reckon Carlton would vote yes and St.Kilda no. If that's true then there's your answer.

Joffa, my point is that i think you write 50 lines and precious little of it actually means anything, it's all just hot air **** and wind mostly designed to abuse and insult. Your post above was just a bunch of cliches & throwaway lines, didn't actually mean much because it's agenda driven and is built on something about me that you've manufactured to paint a certain picture. I haven't got any myth about carlton & my ideas aren't fantasy land. You summed up what this is all about when you said,
"Well get stuffed you devaluer and demeaner of our club"
...all the rest of your input against me is nothing more than you getting defensive.
Truth hurts more than anything fiction could ever conjure up. That's why i infuriate you and nutbrains, because i speak the truth.
I am not xenophobic, I've travelled the globe 4 times and love other cultures and people. Actually i prefer other cultures to the western one we live in, so i'd say i hardly fit the stereotype of the xenophobe nutface.Originally posted by nutbeennn

keep it up pauline
Xenophobic ! ( please explain?)
Probably, but that would be their arrogance showing.Originally posted by MarkT
Yet they'd still vote yes to open competition I would think.
Yep agree with that totally.Originally posted by nutbeennn
heres the truth deej...
22 footballers on the field for the last 6 years who arent up to it.
An administration that has bankrupted your club.
Thats the truth about Carlton....
Yes but at least it would be because we are crap, not because of the system. There would be integrity in the reasons why we are crap. That's all i want to be truthful.Originally posted by JeffDunne
Probably, but that would be their arrogance showing.
They can hardly complain about the cap and draft when they are stuggling to make ends meat in the present system. If they went and spent millions on players, they would be hoping this would lead to success and increased dollars.
Lets say the draft & salary cap are gone at the end of this season. St Kilda would spend up big securing their talent, and with the increase in revenue this year could afford it. Sponsors will be falling over themselves atm to get on board. In fact the timing would suit us perfectly.
Carlton on the other hand, already have contracts they need to honour. On top of that, they would need to spend big $'s to attract some top liners. Without the AFL assistance as an option, they would be betting the future of the club. No success would amount to years in the financial wilderness.
I think this is the reason we have the draft and salary cap.

you infuriate because you speak a load of one-sided crap, are bitter about what happened at Carlton and want someone to blame, and see St Kilda as everything that is wrong with the AFL, Australia, society and the world. Then you try and prove it with pages of dribble that makes no sense and prove time and again that your main attributes are stubborness, inability to accept facts and a large dollop of elitism. Three qualities that sum up Carlton and many of their supporters beautifully.
but anyway, we look forward to thrashing the pants off you next week, fingers crossed, but by all means get as many excuses in as you can before then.

It's not like a priest rogering anyone and it does not give everyone an even chance at all. A rogering priest has no integrity jeff.Originally posted by JeffDunne

Any system that favours some teams over others is flawed.
While there are inequities in the present system, the design is to give all an even chance. If we're talking sporting competitions - I'd call that integrity.
Jeff i have never flinched from this stance, i have always been against the draft since day one. And sadly i think you're right, the draft is here to stay. In reality you haven't got long to wait until you don't hear my whinging anymore, as the APL is starting up next year. Nothing surer trust me AFL will lose me as a general fan, will be soccer's gain, plenty might say good riddence and that is a-ok by me too.Originally posted by JeffDunne
Deej, have you noticed how this topic gets debated after every St Kilda win? It is only the opposition that is different.
It really is becoming a tired excuse.
The reality is it aint going change. Some tinkering might happen but the draft and salary cap are part of the game and will be for a long time to come.
Carlton better run as a club??Control of your own future??Originally posted by Deej
In an open system everyone has an equal chance. StKilda were just as much a chance in 1970 of winning the flag as carlton were, we were just better run as a club that's all. I like the idea of being in control of your own future. I think it's criminal that essendon have won only 1 flag over the past 10 years when they have been clearly the best run club in the league.
Absolute rubbish. Elliott&co via Carlton broke the afl rules not the laws of the country. There are no criminals out of this situation. Talk about waffle jeez dramatise it a bit more would ya.Originally posted by The Fireman

you were cheating for Gods sake. The only thing criminal in the past 10 years was your club.
