I was talking to a good friend today and he is a partner in a prominent Adelaide business and a Port supporter and a rare type as he is very intelligent.

He said the biggest mistake was not doing a complete unbiased view of the board as Chapman and Ricciuto would have been the first to go.
He said a good organization has no room for overinflated egos at board level and that will kill any football club.
I couldn't disagree.

Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

... then kicked straight to WCE player .

Dance step was beautiful :thumbsu: , but all for nothing if he's gonna deliver like that.

Pretty sure if you watch the play, he hits Laird on the chest after that step. Then the play gets ****ed up as Laird misses a handball to Sloane.

We were never going to kick a winning score with the forward line we had today;

Frampton - tries hard not up to it - c grade at best
Stengle - sorry won't make it, he doesn't want it enough he should have been manic today after his "mistake" - has skills but c grade
Obrien great guy everyone love's him even Nic Nat - B grade

Crouch's both want out and it shows.

Sloane not coping.

Lynch semi circle meh!

Laird wow everyone has him worked out.

Smith very good.

Hamill awesome - Jones fantastic - McHenry will be an excellent Robin if he can find a Batman - McPherson pleasing debut.

ROB was awful as a ruckman today with only 12 hit outs. Has been struggling all year in the ruck. Give me Nic Nat 7 possession game over O’Brien 19 possession game. His position in the team needs to be questioned as he has sucked at what he selected in the team to do.

All I have to say is remember, big guys take longer. Took Ken McGregor 6 years to become a top AFL footballer. Many other examples of this. McAsey is a baby. Give him a chance.
Yeah, I've taken the dogs for a walk, and now I'm more prepared to be glass half full. I WOULD like McAsey to build on the good things he did today.

Orgasmic - Hamill

Good - Jones, Doedee, McPherson

Will be worth the wait - McAdam

Hope will be worth the wait - McAsey

Tried hard - Keays, McHenry

Major concerns- Stengle, Frampton

Only decent 'established' player - Smith

Every other senior player- somewhere between 'meh' and 'shithouse'.

Special mentions for how shit they were: Sloane, Lynch.

~7 levels of disgrace to footballing fraternity and football fans everywhere ~

Fulltime professional footballer imposter: Matt Crouch.

I don't get it. Jones started the game on fire then spent the rest of the match on the wing or in the forward line.

The change happened as soon as Matt Crouch came on the ground in the first after starting on the bench.

It doesn't take a genius to know Jones needs to play the entire match in the middle
Jones had the second most CBAs of any midfielder, and was around stoppages a lot.

I think he's just learning how to get involved when he's there. I don't think there's any instruction to keep him out of there.

Didn't get a number of basket cases one in recent years and we were in a GF just three years ago. AFL don't hand out PPs since tanking was popular way back when. Gold Coast were a one off assistance package to address the AFL's failures in setting them up.

People need to stop dreaming of a PP and stop dreaming that another club will offer sufficient $ and contract years to Brad Crouch to get us Band 1. Don't you think other clubs scrutinise every game and see at least what faults we see and probably a lot more faults to boot. Our shocking clearance numbers reflect on Brad Crouch as a footballer.
Priority Picks observation is right.

But clubs will be lining up to give Brad Crouch $700k+. You could name half a dozen right now.

They have seen his quality over the last five years, and the fact that our club is an embarrassment isn't held against him. If anything, it's reassuring for them that he'll go back to being excellent once he's back in a decent program.

O'brien harshly done by imo. Very inexperienced ruck still and people writing him off throughout the game. His ruck craft does need work, but around the ground it's hard to fault the guy. Puts in and makes loads of contests. Can actually take a grab. Tackles. Looks horrible by foot but the result is usually alright.

After watching Nicks in the press conference I feel deflated as hell.

We need to work on things which equals no change. How he can continue to play Matt, Sloane and Laird is beyond a joke.

Sholl or Laird: go Sholl
Matt or Poholke: Poholke
Sloane or Shoenberg: Schoenberg

That bit of play at the end when the ball looked to trickle out, everyone though it had, but Crouch kept it alive on the line so he could get a handpass into a contest which resulted in a turnover.
It was a kick.

I know Matt Crouch is our new whipping boy, but you SHOULD be proactive and try to keep the ball alive. I didn't agree with Dermie then.

Sadly, he won't drop Laird. Blind faith from his school football days coaching him at Scotch. Needs to be his coach not his mate.

Sloane and the Crouch brothers with two tackles between them at three quarter time. Both those tackles came late in the third. No wonder we keep losing the clearances.
Can't apply tackles at the clearances if we're always the ones with the bal-

...oh

Actually didnt mind McKays game.

But, Hamill, Jones, McAsey, McHenry, McAdam, McPherson etc must be persisted with.

Sloane needs a break. Trade the Couches. Will be good value for them.

Hartigan was ok. Smith very good.

Laird and Kelly need to go. Kelly has no dash at all.

Doedee very good.

ROB was real good. Class from NicNat after the game.

I'd be surprised if Matt Crouch did any aerobic work during the break.

Looks unfit and I reckon he's lost pace and strength over the break
I've posted previously that I reckon the lockdown will have affected the players who are not self-motivated the most. The disciplined self-starters would have done the work and be fine.

Those who need people and mates around them to push them will have coasted and cut corners.

Either this team defense doesn't work or the players aren't implementing it correct (IMO, it's the former), hence when we actually win the ball first, our forward movement look good but when we don't and try to organise this team defense we are disjointed and when we somehow win the ball back, the players aren't in the correct position and we just end up chipping the ball around putting more pressure on our backline who aren't the best kicks.
This team defence needs to **** off and just attack. To win you need to score who cares if crows win scoring 13 goals to 12 goals.

It’s a tough one because as you say, around the ground, ROB is very competent. But he’s in the team as a RUCKman, not as another mid. His “ruck craft” is non existent, every Centre Bounce we start on the back foot because the oppo ruckman simply jumps over him. He’s slightly more competitive at a stoppage where he can engage first but still loses more than he wins. Our mids rightly cop a lot of the blame for our Clearance woes, but for me, it all starts with ROB. Our mids can’t be proactive at all at a stoppage. And you can say as much as you like that they need to read the opposition ruckman, that’s a lot harder in practice than it is in theory. If we’re just gonnado that, might as well play McHenry in the ruck.

There's some truth to it, but Mick Godden needs to take some accountability here too.
