Bad
Atkins -- not too sure what was in blond rinse as very frustrating with feeble efforts and brain fades, just parading around look at me which is fine if don't stuff up or let opposition get free .
First qtr -- will end up hurting us like in Sydney last year final.
Good
Greenwood -- Wow love everything about his game ,just what need.

Even if we finish top 2 it's pretty clear we don't play the style of footy to go all the way.
Who would know months before finals as lots can happen.

Guess you were saying the Bulldogs were playing.flag winning style this time last year...

We haven't dominated for 4 quarters for a single game this season, let alone all season.

Ignoring our pathetic starts is head in the sand stuff.
You need to escape from your utopia.

Name me 1 AFL team who has been regularly dominating all 4 quarters?

Btw, I have already said we need to work on our starts a few times, but I gather you glossed over this...

Only saw the first half before having to go out, but the biggest highlight for me was definitely Greenwood. He looked composed, clean, quick and he almost killed a couple of blokes in sledgehammer tackles.

What I saw of the Crouches was fine, mainly handballs yes, but they are gettimg their hands on the pill and setting up teammates. As long as they kick when it is the better option, I'm happy if they handball to players in a better position to use it.

Gooch was quiet in the first half but wasnt terrible. Looked a bit taken a back at the size of the opposition.

Otherwise there were some serious holes in the fwd line, Walker and Otten provided almost nothing in the way of targets. Less pressure than I'd like to have seen applied, but better than it was when we were playing Jenkins/Otten/Lynch/Walker.

Just another bug kudos to Greenwood. Played fwd most of the game and still had a big impact. Hopefully he keeps it up throughout the rest of the season

just on Greenwood. Considering how composed, clean and how well he tackled we must be wondering why has it taken so long to play him.
Learn how to dominate SANFL games then apply it to AFL level. The matter is the next step for him now.

Need to remeber that prior to last year it was over 5 years since his last ga.e of footy.

Sauce did not mark well but his ruck work was better in that he tried to control where the ball went. Last week he dominated but the opposition read the ball better.
We were as a team on the night massively better but Brisbane could have inflicted a lot of damage on the counter when they missed lots of goals through poor kicking for goals or just the near misses.

Richmond are a top 4 contender aswell they seriously should have beaten gws

You're not a top 4 contender if you can't beat top 8 sides.

Richmond lost to Adelaide, Bulldogs, Fremantle and GWS in consecutive weeks. Only decent sides they've beaten are Melbourne and they didn't look like winning that game until Melbourne were two men down; and West Coast, who are incapable of winning at the MCG and had more scoring shots anyway

I think the angst that most here have, and I share, is another first quarter where the opposition brought immense pressure and we crumbled. Brisbane just couldn't sustain it.

Some have made the comment that our defence either lacks composure and/or the coaches refuse to give them support. Most of brisbanes early goals came from them flooding our forward line and applying pressure then running it all the way down the other end. We lacked the ability /pace to lock the ball in our forward half.

We really are susceptible to the slingshot with Talia and lever being so slow, hartigan horribly out of form and Kelly being a fringe player. We really need Cheney back in for Kelly or doedee to come on.

[edit: and also the damn midfield to work back defensively]

I think you're spot on with regards to the defenders and the midfield at the start of the game.

Need Cheney or Doedee and our midfielders at the start of the game need to be able to match that manic pressure and return serve with interest. I know i'm repeating myself now, but I can't see MCrouch and Douglas doing that.

Are you saying those who can find enjoyment in a 80 point win don't?

I want it more than anything too. But its round 9, we're top and the teams around us aren't exactly setting the world on fire

EVERY team has had an absolute diabolical week (or more) this year and it's only been 9 weeks so far.....

Hell, GWS should have 2 more losses instead of 2 W's over the past 2 weeks..... imagine if that had happened? What happens if they lose a few more from here and don't make top 4?

I have my concerns, but i also feel people should be balanced. It's all to easy to lay into these players after a shit loss, than give them some kudos after a nice win..... that's my whole point really
My issue with the season so far is how it is shaping perfectly for Sydney. They had their horror run already so that is out the way. No other team has looked all that impressive. They are finals hardened and with the likely demise of the Doggies, are slowly building back up to full steam. Other teams in the meantime are hogging the limelight. So while the pretenders battle it out the Swannies are quietly going about their business. (As much as I hate to say it)

Man Greenwoods first few steps are sneaky and quick.

He's like a big cat out there, he comes from angles and at speed to tackle opponents when they least expect it.

Love it.

This comes from basketball. Some big men basketballers who don't always play the 5 position (post) learn to move really well.

The biggest problem the crows have had with Basketball converts is the lack of physicality, as in basketball you learn to subconsciously avoid contact so you don't get called for a foul. Early Tippett, Henderson, Jenkins. Hendo was shocking for it.

Greenwood on the other hand looks like he doesn't have this problem and is good with the physical game, especially with his tackles. I haven't seen him play SANFL so I guess I'm only basing this off one game but he looks very promising. I didn't realise he was a bit older till I looked up he was born in 92, explains the size.

I think its a combination of his basketball vision and spatial awareness with his solid football foundations.

He actually played as a point guard, which is the same position as Ricky Henderson but the contrast is stark.

I think you are harsh on the Tippet call though. Probably the most physical forward we've ever had even from the start of of his afl career. Was a contested beast as a junior footballer and considered the best contested mark in his draft year.

just on Greenwood. Considering how composed, clean and how well he tackled we must be wondering why has it taken so long to play him.

He has been at the club for a grand total of 33 AFL games coming from a pure basketball background. I think we can excuse the club for taking a wait and see approach. He hit new heights this season and got rewarded for consistency. Plus we have only lost 2 games for the year. We weren't an easy team to break into.

Plus we had guns like Mackay keeping him out

My memory may be a bit faded I wasn't that much of a fanatic back when Tippet started, I'll wear that one. Really excited to hear Greenwood played point, that position is great spacial awareness training.
