In a crazy draw for a side who finished so low last year we’ve had 7 match ups against the top 4.

Tonight was our worst result.

Let that sink in, a 6 point loss away to Bris is our worst result from 7 attempts against the top 4.

As has been our season in a nutshell tonight was frustrating and another what could have been.

If you look at the game through the lens of pre 2023 expectation there’s a lot to like (including doing it undermanned).

But like a lot of our results, look at it through the lens of what we’ve seen we can do it’s disappointing.

Man Keane was insane, I kept seeing him get the ball and boom instant decision to kick it (expecting a stuff up) except he kept lacing it out to team mates in space.

He’s going to be ******* good. Tough as hell too.
Built like a rugby player. He could seriously hurt if he collected someone.

Cringe: Nicks calling us "a very good team".

Trying to remain optimistic re RT's development....theres no doubt the kid has talent but he does seem to drop his bundle on occasions when things dont go his way....while he still learning his trade he should be impacting games more than what he currently is considering his size and athletic abilty. Lets hope he discovers some real physicality over preseason and comes back with an attitude and intent that sets him up for a breakout season.

That is incorrect, avail yourself of AFL pro stats (champion data) if you don't believe me.
He's one of the worst kicks in the AFL

Fortunately he's smart enough to know that, so kicks very conservatively and sensibly most of the time. Safe, wide, short options if available. Or long to the talls near the boundary.

Only forgets occasionally and the instant turnover reminds him not to try anything. Usually lasts for the next few weeks before he forgets again

Bad kickers aren't actually that bad unless they don't know that they're bad

We seem quick to sub out our less senior players
We subbed out butts several times (some injured but not all) and Murray too.

Nicks is clearly open to going shorter in defense in game as a tactical sub.

So pinning this on abandoning youth is a bit tunnel Visioned.

Having said that, borlase was struggling I think. Could see the lack of agility coming to play (not always times when it created a goal or anything it just stood out at times in general play).

So the combination of the 2 made it a fair move as does hindsight as we didn’t miss the extra tall defender once he was off

So sick of losing like this. Dominate general play, be on the cusp of an upset away win, but come up short, mostly due to silly errors and, most of all, goalkicking.
THIS, x a million.
Repeat losses in the manner/pattern of losers.
They just do not take their chances. Third quarter was definitive.

Fantastic: Rory Sloane signing on Tuesday to counter the bad news loss
