Good
- Resting Tex. Looked a new player tonight. 100% linked to freshening those legs. Fingers crossed there's no whinging when it happens next time.
- Thilthorpe's 4th quarter. The bloke gave absolutely everything he had. He's made of the right stuff. And the way he impacted the clearance early on in the quarter when in the ruck was ominous. Ruck craft isn't there but like a spare midfielder.
- Doedee - 1%er central
- Nicks's best tactical game. Our standard style plays right into Melbourne's hands. He made some small, but substantial changes that completely took the game away from their terms.
- Laird & Keays. All heart
- Seedsman outside. Very good.
- Nick Murray's tackle on Gawn had as much of a role in winning it for us as Tex's goal. Unbelievable from the last picked in the 22
- Jones settling in well. McHenry starting nicely. Tenacity might just be enough.
- The effort levels all game. Switched on. I love it.

How good is footy?

Sitting on it a bit longer - more Good:
- For those of us playing at home, getting Anthony Hudson as the lone caller. Jeez, footy is so much better to watch without the drivel. Nobody else stays silent after the siren to just let us take in the atmosphere. They'd have filled it with meaningless cliches and hot takes.
- Panned it at the time, but I don't think we win if Hamill plays ahead of Mackay. Good from him.
- Whoever was responsible for Kozzy. Unreal shutdown job.

No real footy fan dwells on a late call. I a prelim or GF sure but in minor round, it happens.

If top is not ahead of 15th at that point ... dont bleat.
Smart by Murray to not rush it through for a point. The best outcome would have been to hit the point post. I think he was aiming for it.

ROB was still pretty ordinary.

Keays and Seeds would be leading our BnF, and the Skipper (and former skipper) lifted right when we needed them to.

Seeds would be top 3-5 b&f. Just needs to tidy up some of his disposal but has taken his game to a new level late in his career

I was pretty harsh on his lack of defensive pressure and two-way gut running last week. Happy to say he stuffed my criticism down my very large throat tonight.

Underrated: Thilthorpe's ruck craft and follow up work

Every time this year that Thilthorpe has gone into the ruck instead of ROB, our centre circle work has transformed from stolid, one dimensional, and little more than a speed bump, into dynamic, unpredictable, and capable of winning real offensive clearances.

On the one hand it's a real positive about the ruck craft, second efforts, agility, and smarts of Thilthorpe. On the other it's not a great look for ROB.

He's the best AFL commentator going around atm.

Anyone wanting a laugh have a read of this

Dees played well and it was a good game. Dees will be top 4 come seasons end unlike your sorry club. Crows have now beaten more top 4 teams than port this year for context.

Actually i missed the end of last weeks game you guys played v the bulldogs..did you sing your club song wearing the prison bars

I personally hate B&Fs
It's a participation award in effect

Definitely top 6.

Laird will be #1
Keays probably #2 (Maybe 3)
With Seedsman, Smith, Doedee and Sholl rounding out the 6.

I got home and was ready to watch the replay instantly
Then I hear Hudson's voice.
Nearly came there as I knew there wouldnt be any drivel taking away from the moment

On one hand, that's not saying much (with the current "talent")

On the other. Comparing it to past greats like Cometti, McAvaney, Grybas etc. He still pulls out infront.

Anyway:

Excellent:

Berrys first half. Ended up fading, but oh boy do we have a potential inside mid and a half here. I truly look forward to watching him develop as a footballer here.
McHenry had a big impact throughout the game. Harassed and hurt the other way.
Tex looked good.
Thilthorpe star is growing. Stays healthy and I don't think it's unrealistic to say he'll end up the best key forward this club has ever had. Just a freak.
Fogarty purely for that decision to take a set shot. Impacted when he needed too though.
Jones and Schoenberg weren't consistent but had some nice moments.
Murray had a mare, and yet I'm willing to forgive it all for that tackle on Gawn
Rowe had a good first quarter.
Doedee and McAdam were both outstanding defensively.
Outside of the first 10 minutes in the first quarter, our pressure was top notch.
Seeds/Laird/Keays all had some seriously good moments. Fought on even though they got brutally outclassed in the middle.

Terrible:

David Mackay. He was horr... nah, I'm trolling. He had a bloody fantastic game.

all of this

Who did Jake Lever play on?

he played? Fog I think

Don't forget the "touched" call claimed by Sholl, not given.
Sholl doesn't strike me as the kind of young fella to claim it mischievously.

he was spewing at the next CB

I couldn’t go to the footy today but wow. I have gone kinda deaf from treatment but I couldn’t hear the final siren, I could only see the pandemonium.

good:
no Derwayne calling
Fog punching that Melb guy in the shoulder, who looked like he needEd emergency surgery after
Fog taking responsibility for that kick at goal
everything else we did

bad:
everyone at the Demons should immediately resign In disgrace, especially the coaching staff. All those draft picks, all those leg ups, we still beat them.
