That's right but I'm not sure the umpire who made the call could have seen that given he was behind the play. It's the boundary umpire who has the clear view - maybe he signalled touched? Will be interesting to hear the explanation from the AFL.
There was a field umpire running into the goal square.

I thought the winning team was supposed to feign heritage and put on some prison bars during the song
The only thing that would have made the night complete is if the Crows changed into SA state colours for the team song. :drunk:

No thanks.

That jumper does not represent our Club.

Let's not shoehorn some "heritage" to accommodate it.

Our club has 30 years of proud history and club defining moments. Last night a new chapter.

The second big scalp our young rebuilding side took on the way back up.

Man Ben Keays was a great get.
He just gives his all every week, it's something to behold.
He will frustrate at times with his execution and decision making, but he makes up for that with his ability to actually win the cod and get involved. Best Team Man kind of player.

Thought Butts was great
Murray was great
Ned
Tex
and my favourite, probably Berry the beast

Demons were robbed by that late deliberate call but nobody talks about the Geelong Brisbane result anymore so woohoo
Or the touched off the boot goal by Berry that wasn’t reviewed.
I hate the goal review!! But why have the far king thing if you pick and choose when to use it?

Yep, ump got lucky

A bit like turning down an lbw because the umpire thought it was missing leg. Replay shows it was hitting middle halfway up... but there was a faint inside edge

Correct decision technically speaking but inadvertent

Or a better example - Frank Drebin's 1000th drug deal killed: "In all honesty, the last two I just backed over with my car. Luckily they turned out to be drug dealers."

It's interesting that the umpires putting the whistle away in the last minute of a close game is a phenomenon invented just last night, for our benefit, and has never occurred before in Australian Rules Football

From the long long long look up in the Riverbank that was my concern - that he got rid of it correctly not the time he had a hold of it - but I was also going mental urging the ball forward to worry much longer than that
What we're all probably losing sight of in the debate about the non-decision is just how bloody well he did to keep the ball alive.

That play was symbolic of him as a player in many respects - just sheer will and determination. He's an absolute ripper.

The good:
Getting some characters into the team. For example
- infectious excitement of the young lads. Ned, and ROWE in particular who bounced around like a little puppy when Tex took the mark at the end. Reminded me of Chester and Spike from Bugs Bunny
- the confidence of Fog to stop and say I’ve got this. And his angry elbows.

The bad: the shame I feel for thinking that was a cracking, team building win, and I’m glad it happened, but we need to see this year in context of our rebuild. I don’t want a midtable finish. I want talent. More brave losses needed- maybe after we roll the Tiggers next week...

The ugly: the two “reports“. Good lord

Last night’s game was a much needed classic that we haven’t seen for some time! Genuinely non-stop, heart-pounding, carotid-throbbing feel in that last quarter!

Just so proud of the boys, tried their guts out from start to finish. Obviously plenty of things to improve upon, but the effort was elite and we’re showing genuine beliefs in our game/structure.

If you factor in the last 2 rounds, we:
- lost to Eagles by 4 goals in WA
- won the Dees by 1 point
- played 2 opponents worthy of top-four status in 2021.
If I was to predict after round 8, that we were to lose by an average of only 2 goals vs Eagles and Dees for the following 2 rounds...I reckon all of us would have been ultra happy to accept this!

That goal Fogarty kicked from 50, to put us within a kick... was just, in a word, immense.

You can’t teach someone how to kick like that. You can’t teach someone how to handle pressure like that.

Anybody questioning whether we should stick with him needs their head read.

Also - shock horror, we can actually survive without Frampton and Himmelberg. In fact, we can beat an undefeated team on top of the ladder, without Frampton or Himmelberg.

Are you getting it yet, selectors? You’re only three months behind the rest of us.
