Backs against the wall and up against the odds. Did the business. Now, boys, rest up and look forward to remind the Swans who is the boss.

Ceglar and McEvoy did well in the ruck after half-time to neutralise Sam Jacobs. Ceglar was a handful up forward, too.

Schoenmakers dominated in defence. Will do him the world of good, with a big task in a fortnight against Tippett (most likely). Spangher was lionhearted as usual but, compared to last week, didn't over commit himself to too many contests and took some telling marks.

Shiels, Hodge and Lewis did a power of work in the midfield and Simpkin also was a very useful player for Hawthorn.

Litherland made sure the front-running Betts didn't do much front-running. His pace allows him to keep track of the slippery forwards and he was a very good player tonight. Smith ran hard throughout the game and was determined to be involved right from the get go, as did Birchall.

Roughead didn't have much luck in front of goal but still contributed, including by dropping back to help put up the wall. Gunston was brilliant early and Punky a star throughout.

Great to get a win, but it's another win that I see worrying signs.
We rely so heavily on Mitch.
Our tackling is terrible, can't stick and pin down anyone..
Mcevoy, and Cegs worry me when the ball hits the deck forward, can't apply enough forward pressure when both are down there.

Why can't we tackle?

Like most of our wins lately, did just enough to win.

Our midfield is a real worry, teams getting on the outside way too easy and our inability to stick tackles hurting us.

McEvoy and Cegs combo great, Litherland gave Betts a touch up, Gunston a star, Spang looking better and better each week and Schoey pretty good tonight.
