But Rory just praised him in a huge way. How do you reconcile that? Or do you think he's that ignorant of club history that he believes Burto was captain?

Yep , without laying the boot into the guy probably sums up why he wasn’t our greatest captain

Inherently positive to the point of being naive at times

Some of his greatest personality strengths are also his weakness

I'm not the one who wants mediocre players in the team.
Given your posting, I would have thought by now you would have a better understanding of the concept of mediocre... ;)

Watching that ball swing back through the goals..............priceless

The best part of that is the Port Supporter to the bottom left of the shot jumping up and down with one hand raised in the air thinking the shot was going to miss and then stopping when the realisation hit him that it didn't.

Anyone seen any comments or posts from Doedee about the Captain? Any congratulations to Jordan?

Yeah he posted a congrats in his Instagram story the day it was announced

If you search my posting history, you'll see a few similar assessments of Sloane's positivity. Bit this is a bit different, he knows that Burton was sacked, he commenced legal action for breach of contract, it's pretty hard to have missed it. It's not just inherent positivity, there's an inherent arrogance or indoctrination as well. It came out in an interview on AA last year when he was asked if they should get some freshness through the midfield, his defensiveness was fairly clear as he rambled on about the experienced players doing the job.

It's been ingrained in the senior players for a while, this sense of entitlement that they are owed everything. Rory is at the heart of that i reckon.

Same attitude from those suggesting that Dawson doesn't deserve the captaincy because he's only been there for a year, and other players are more deserving because they've been there longer!

That’s part of his personality though

I don’t reckon he’s all that street smart , just a loyal bloke that has kid like enthusiasm and loyalty

It’s not evil , more like naivety hence I don’t think he’s overly suited to leadership roles outside of what he brings with a an unflinching determination

Same personality that looked Dangerfield in the eye in a prelim and somehow ran thru him when both at full pace when most mortals wouldn’t have thought it’s possible given the physical disparity

Sometimes your strength is your weakness

You should have asked him Sloane was a candidate or was that after Sloane stepped down
the comment actually took me by surprise and it was a bit out of context, so the moment to dig passed before I could ask any follow up on it. The implication was that it was a captaincy vote, not a post Sloane resignation captaincy vote.

Have no doubt this is the case , hence the players had close knowledge on what the outcome was going to be ( quite a while ago too )

They don’t do captains in AFL much without players putting forward their input

What attitude ?

Who thinks other players are more deserving ?

I think people are over complicating this whole thing
