Judd trade may fall over.

Richmond did not formally approach him or his manager with an offer, so there was no reason for him to nominate the tigers, as he thought they weren't interested.
Bwahhahahahaha!

What comes after DefCon 4? All previous records are being broken by Tiger fans this week.

Most trades that will be done this week will involve players who are contracted (like Judd) being sent to other teams. None of these players nominated anybody or anything. They simply agreed to the trade. All WC have to do is convince him to say yes to the deal and it is done. Nomination is a specific term that has no relevance here. Do you understand?

If he was going to entertain a trade with you he would have very simply at least met with you 2-3 weks ago....he didn't even have you in his short list of 4..... you are seriously deluded if you think Judd would make that dramatic a departure from his decision.

bullshit, as if the tigers wouldnt have been interested, he doesnt want go to u guys, just deal with it.

If you can remember back a few weeks, Miller came out and said the Tigers were not going to get involved as we were embarking on a "youth policy". He gave the caveat saying that if negotiations with others fell through, only then would we show interest. That time is now.

I'm finding it hard to communicate with you, because your intellectual capacity seems quite limited. Judd is out of contract and that is why he will be leaving the Weagles despite their wishes to retain him. If the Weagles don't want to trade he can go into the PSD and the Weagles get nothing. So he holds the cards as the Weagles can only trade with the Club Judd nominates. It doesn't matter what the Tiges are offering, they can't deal with the Weagles unless Judd agrees, because he'll just elect to go into the PSD and the Weagles get zip. If you don't understand this very basic point, go and get someone else in your household to read it and explain it to you. Now Miller stuffed up big time, because he failed to convince Judd to nominate Richmond, despite other Clubs lobbying for a several months. :)

Since when has trading a player stipulated that you had to discuss the situation for weeks beforehand and be short listed? None of the other trades this week will involve this so why does this have to be different? All WC have to do is say "Juddy, you're going back home and we are allowing that to happen, so do us a favour and go to the Tigers who are giving us the best offer. That is the least you can do for the club you captained so well..." Judd only has to say ok and the deals done. What's so hard to understand?

How can you claim that a team that should have finished 17th isn't interested in Judd. If nothing else he'd be the only player in the team who can legally purchase beer.

heatlystand do you have a source for knowing it will be announced in the media tomorrow? Fair bit of rumour going around on that? Channel 10 said over here that an agreement has not been reached, but Carlton will be holding a press conference tomorrow?

Do you believe everything you read????
NO, do Carlton fans always believe whispers that they hear. ;)

I would think a press release from Carlton themselves saying negotiations are still continuing would carry a little more weight than Carlton whispers on BF.

Seems that the rumoured press conference announcing Judd as a Blue only really surfaced after the Richmond offer became public knowledge.

In about 12 hours time some people are going to be proven wrong and some are going to be proven right.

Judd is NOT uncontracted. He will be by November. He is currently STILL contracted to the Eagles. That is why everyone has to deal with them! If he was uncontracted he would only have two choices. Nominate for the national draft or the preseason draft. Whilst he is still under contract with the eagles he ultimately has to come to an agreement with them to leave.
He could change his mind tonight, tomorrow or even Friday 1.59pm and the deal with Richmond can get done. There was no need to lobby for several months. All the eagles have to do is to convince him that by going to Richmond they are upholding their part of the bargain by allowing him to go back home. In return, he would have to uphold his part of the bargain which was to see the eagles get the best possible deal for him. Simple.

mmm... not bloody likely. He knew everyone wanted a piece of his ass.

Pick up analogy:

Richmond was the slightly overweight guy in the corner who thought he was 'playing hard to get' while the usual 'players' were buying Juddy drinks and waiting to see who would get lucky. At 3:00am Fat old Richo realises he's going home alone and starts trying to move in on the couple getting into the cab - his first call is "threesome anyone?", when rebuffed by the couple saying "no we like to keep it simple", the drunken bozo says "come home with me instead....you probably want me instead, I just didn't ask you earlier!" :D

And Judd says "NO", and he goes into the PSD and the Weagles get nothing. I just can't believe that you still don't understand this very basic point. It's just hilarious. :)
Parrot you do understand that Richmond will be paying over the odds for Morton by giving up picks 2 & 18 if the Eagles were to send Judd to the PSD. Therefore they would get pick 2 for basically a handshake.

Fonzie wont allow, a player that hasn't played many games and isn't highly fancied to be traded for pick 2 and 18

lol. You just have no idea. All that matters is whether or not Judd is contracted for season 2008 and beyond. And Judd IS UN-CONTRACTED THEN. So the Weagles can't prevent him from leaving, and he can elect to go into the PSD if he wishes at any time. If he wanted to, he could prevent the Weagles from trading with any Club and just nominate for the PSD straight away. He has only nominated Carlton, and not Richmond because of Miller's gross incompetence. So if the Weagles don't like the deal from the Blues, they get nothing and Judd decides to go into the PSD. The Weagles can't force him to go anywhere. Miller has been running around this week desperately trying to get Judd to change his mind at the last minute and nominate the Tiges as well so he can trade with the Weagles, but his management have flatly refused because they consider Richmond to be a complete basket case. So you see, what Miller offers is completely meaningless because if the Weagles don't accept the Blues offer, Judd will elect to go into the PSD rather than let the Weagles trade with the Tiges. The question Miller needs to answer was why he was incapable of getting Judd to nominate the Tiges. This will go down as the biggest trade clanger in Richmond's history. Truely unbelievable. :)

Spot on... but I preferred my "pick up analogy" above - It had a 'real world' charm :D

Good luck getting a pick #2 and #18 for Morton trade approved. Morton struggles to make the senior side. The Weagles will have to throw in at least 1 or 2 quality players to get that approved, which will dilute the trade benefit. Plus there's the risk of the AFL finding out about a secret illegal PSD deal, which could result in fines and draft penalties, plus the risk of the Tiges still not getting him in the PSD. Good luck. :)

Yes, describes the situation perfectly. :)

Thank you Mr peejay. I'm trying to be as pleasant as possible whilst being allowed on your boards. Some of your members are trying to provoke me, but as my name suggests, I didn't come down in the last shower!

???????

I'm sorry, but I do have an idea. The eagles still control him now, and now is when the trade period is. Not in 2008. Why would Judd nominate for the PSD and go to Richmond? That way he offends both Carlton and WC. If he agrees to go to Richmond via a trade, his old team is at least rewarded with draft choices 2 & 18. Nobody loses. Carlton keep 1&3, WC get 2&18, Richmond get Judd and Judd comes to Victoria. Win, win, win, win. So why is it so hard to understand that this is a distinct possiblity? So all this talk about refusing to go here and there and forcing the eagles to do this and that is far less likely than the scenario I just described. Judd isn't that vindictive.

Morton was rated a potential top 10 pick in his draft but went under F/S rules instead. If it was to get messy then and the clubs thought the deal might get held up then an easy fix is the Eagles throw in pick 13 and Richmond throws in pick 19. Solution Richmond gets 13, 30 and Morton, WCE gets picks 2, 18, 19. Only way Carlton trumps that is by offering pick 1 and/or 3 and a player. Either way by lunch time tomorrow everyone will know what is going on.

FWIW I think Judd will go to carlton and we have been reamed - I have a feeling the deal has been done already....I would be suprised if the tigers got involved and raised the pick to no.1...happy, but suprised

Hi SS. i hope you are correct. I'm not sure if you have been reamed though...i know you probably won't get what you think you deserve but the fact is of all the clubs CJ nominated, we were in the best position to offer a reasonable trade at the end of the day. We could have made a completely insulting offer or taken our chances with Judd going into the PSD......so If it is 3 and JK, I think it is an ok result......I wish JK all the best and for your sake as well hope he goes on to be a very good player....from all the things I have heard JK is a kid of the highest character and desire to succeed.

I... If he agrees to go to Richmond...

But JUDD REFUSES TO GO TO RICHMOND!!! lol. He has been refusing for at least 2 weeks and his management AGAIN told Miller that he does not want to be part of a trade involving the Tiges, and would go into the PSD instead. He didn't even nominate the Tiges in his top 4, and has refused to meet with your pathetic basket case of a Club despite endless requests from the bumbling Miller. See the problem. This is just so funny. :)
