Gray won't play 22 games next year, probably 12-16. But with that line up, we lack pace, we would be the slowest side running about and simply without pace we will struggle.

No doubt and that is something we will need to focus on heavily during our recruiting this year. We've put together an underbelly of bigger-bodied inside mids. At least Broadbent and Brad Ebert can sustain their running. Moore needs to show outisde clearance stuff. We do need an injection of two pacy players in the midfield, one in our forward line and at least one in defence, to complement the capacity of Hartlett and Broadbent to clear the lines with their kicking.

I also agree with the concern over Gray, which is why from now on I'm only considering him as a half forward option for us.

I'm not saying it's a perfect line-up by any means, but equally if certain players are intent on holding guns to our heads and we have the sort of fall-out the Crows had last year, we shouldn't be dropping our bundle. The key is to use the situation to our advantage and recruit sensibly to specific deficiencies and needs, as well as best available.

Westoffson's best is good enough, he has no ability to produce this regularly i dont mind if he is rissoled immediately!

PS Cassisi should hand the captaincy in end of year!

Will a third round pick get Westhoff to GWS ?

We've done well out of players Port dont want, so Im happy to continue this trend.

No - Westhoff is attached to us for 3 years and a new coach will be keen to try their hand at turning his inconsistency around at least for one year. That is, unless we are offered something very good in return for him. Any unforced changes at the end of the year will need to be for decent exchanges, as our depth is not good enough for a new coach to simply set about making big statements with bold delistings............as much as that's something we probably need.

I was most interested in Thomas' response to a question asked about the quality of our list. Thomas said it's so hard to measure because the club hasn't been able to keep players on the track. I think, at that point, Falloon left the room to start clearing out his office.

a few B-minuses (e.g. Trengove, Broadbent, Schulz)

Hahaha, Schulz a B minus. ****ing Adelaidenow. If Kurt Tippett had been playing as well as Schulz has been this year for such a shitty side the Addy would be renamed the Tippettiser.

It's the law of sport rankings - when your team is flying, you get ten All Australians and win every media award under the sun. When the team is struggling, you are tarnished with that failure and even your best output isn't worth as much as it should be in the eyes of everyone else.

Just ask Warren Tredrea circa 2004, then 2005.

We must trade Hoff and Bob
We will not be competitive in my view for another 1-2 seasons (subject of course to signing Roos and trading in Gary Ablett Jnr) and therefore we would be better served to get something for these 2 laconics as their next 50-100 games will not be as good as their last

I"m interested in some opinion on Westoff. He looks to have run his race at Port but may draw some interest from other clubs given his height and sporadic displays of abilty. He looks like a bloke that can turn it around in new surroundings. Does he have a future at Port and if not what do you recken he is worth? I"m not sure of his contractual situation.

He'd love Hawthorn, we'll trade him and a second round pick to you for Liam Shiels.

Confirmed for you lads,

Salter is out of contract at the end of the year.

imo, Chappy goes he will stay. Chappy stays, Salts is gone.

Hey do you know if Salter had a 2yr contract with conditions apply. Ie second year only valid if he played a certain amount of games this year.

I read the "Happy Medium" article on our website this morning (about midfield prospects)... whilst we desperately need KPP (especially backs) and should target quality ones at every opportunity... what do you think the chances are of us landing one of these players with 2nd round picks or lower...

* I know nothing else about these other than what the article has outlined, so further info is appreciated. I do like midfielders who have all the midfield abilities but with that extra height.

Dean Towers - North Ballarat Roosters
22
189 cm
83 kg
- I liked that he is mature, but still young, has line breaking ability with speed and agility, strong overhead… skills? At about 6' 3" that is pretty big for a mid... but also has the speed.

Luke Dunstan - Woodville West Torrens
17
184 cm
82 kg
- I like that he is a local SA boy, on the younger side, has damaging left foot as well as contested ball winning skills. Again he is around 6' tall, but is good in the contest... and is only 17yo.

Emmanual Irra - South Adelaide (SANFL)
18
179 cm
80 kg
- Smaller than I prefer but skilled on both sides, quick and surely he has endurance is in his genes.
- The off-field attraction for me is... chance to connect with the recent influx of African immigrants and appeal to them as supporters (and inspire future players). Is it worth while spending a pick for these reasons??? Maybe not at the high end, but perhaps worth considering lower down… unless his skills justify higher selection.

Thoughts?

Not worth Towers unless with a late pick better younger prospects

Dunstand i would love to get with the second mini draft pick, loves training, co captain of the AIS team v New Zealand ass a U17, fair big lad already has played up throughout his junior career, would like to see him play some reserves (bit bias here he is one of my oldest mates)

Irra 100x yes, pick around the 40 mark take him, takes the game on has flair and is obviously a metamorph

Jesus, reading this list of the top 25 draft prospects is depressingly grim, I only spot three guys over 193cm - one is Daniher, who'll go to Essendon F/S, the second is a GWS minidraft pick not otherwise eligible (Hogan), and the third is Christian Jaksch who by his description is a total reach for top 25 anyway.

Thanks Rohdey/Parks.

I see 4 with Grundy? but don't take too much out of it, this early in and its very Vic bias. But yeah, another point that Rohdey is shit.

Believe it may have only been a one year.

Ah yes Grundy. Well, I guess we could add a fourth ruckman? hahaha ****

Has anyone heard how Newton is going with his injury / surgery?
Really hoped this year would be his year.... I know we have to look to the draft but i really thought he was a second rounder with a heap of promise
