Nothing personal against this lad but this is bullshit . Other clubs are picking ready made afl players and Richmond supporters are touting their MSD pick is ready to play this week for them . On the other hand , we are taking a guy who would find it hard to break into SANFL side . It explains why we did not win a flag for 20 years ....

I reckon we played Brynn Teakle immediately or the next week after we picked him up in the MSD.

I'm not sure there are really that many plug and play mature types worth bothering with tbh.

Lol Richmond has 20 injuries and are struggling to fill a team. No one picked in that draft would come into our team in the next few weeks or this year!
Name one who we could have had that would push for selection? 😂

Kobe Ryan , Sydney Stack ( Not sure if he has been interviewed by any club ) Noah Howes ( got lot of upside ) , Ernst

Great, now he’s out with Covid.

Tommy Timmy is worth a shot.

For those questioning why 18 months, there are two reasons:

1.Clearly we told him to nominate 18 months to ensure we got him.

2. Also, it is just simple fairness to the kid to give him a real shot at it. Those clubs that give a kid just 6 months are deadset arseholes. Draftees have to give up their job, sometimes move interstate and sometimes don’t get a chance to show what they can do in 6 months because of injury. If you back your recruiters to make sound decisions, give those decisions a decent chance to work. 18 months is the decent contract to offer. If you treat the 45th guy on your list with that sort of decency, you soon get a reputation for being a good employer and you never know when you might get to cash in those chips- JHF.

Sutcliffe, Teakle, Narkle, and McEntee have all been mature age pickups. Two were previously on an AFL list, and they have all been lost cloggers. Nothing wrong with going a different route this time and going with a younger, higher upside player.

We should be picking the best available talent either mature or young . There were lot of young talent to pick up from this draft such as Kobe Rayan , Noah Howes and more . I mean absolute best .

In regard to our previous mature age picks . I would not touch Sutcliffe , Teakle and Mcntee with long pole to be on our afl list because they are not afl level players . Yes Narkle was great pick and he is best 22 player . He is better talent than some of our players playing at the moment .

We have had some real success picking 'ready mades' haven't we? Cam Sutcliffe, Jed Mc Entee, Brynn Teakle, Quintin Narkle are hardly names that have gone on to illustrious AFL careers.

It is good that we have chosen an 18 year old who has been training with us, has played for us at SANFL level and averaged 15 possessions a game.

So it is basically an internal selection . For some reason Kobe Ryan , Noah Howes and Ernst ( 21 , 18 and 19 year respectively) are mature age ???

I am not sure on what basis cam Sutcliffe was on our list ? He had a speed of turtle . Mcantee and Teakle was lacking afl level attributes . But Narkle was best 22 player from the get go . He is still better than some of our curent 22 players .

For a club with bugger all draft picks due to trading in players this is the absolute right path to take when given the opportunity to get another player into the squad.

How he fits in with list needs is another matter though. Clearly there is a direction for having 3 or 4 intercept type defenders.

I thought Evans was a chance to be picked up by the club late or possibly even as a rookie in the 2024 draft, so I'm assuming they thought the risk of losing him before he got to a pick they were prepared to use was too high, hence his selection last night.

I suspect it's highly unlikely he would be considered for selection for the Power this season or even the next, but hopefully he is fit enough to play for the Maggies this weekend, and can strengthen them and show he has a future.
