Nobody still cares, but it was annoying to watch an AFL final played in front of a crowd smaller than I've seen at preseason games.

That was embarrassing. No other elite sporting competition serves up that sort of 'showpiece', as demonstrated by the NRL qualifying final in Melbourne earlier in the day.

That team's existence is an insult.
I have no problem with them hosting the game at their home ground, but to not be able to fill it with fans is pathetic.

WTF welcome to country .
BC before Cook .
White people .

Oh My God Wow GIF by O&O, Inc

Thought it was great.

Less worried about them than gws. 1 from their last 5 at the G. 3 from their last 20.
To add to this their one win from last 5 was Melbourne who were actually travelling ok at the time. This was probably their best showing.

They lost to a shambolic Hawks outfit by 4 goals last year, as well as close losses to Melbourne and the GF to pies. No wins.

2022 they got a win against Melbourne in the semi but got thumped by Melbourne in H&A. Lost also to Richmond and we also gave them a hiding the Prelim.

Covid years they played only one game against Hawks there for a near 5 goal loss.

I stopped looking for MCG wins before that because they didn't win one for like 4 or 5 years or something.

I reckon it's all about match-ups and we just seem to line up on Brisbane a bit better than GWS.

I'm worried about Ashcroft though. He's a difference maker. Gives them some acceleration they have severely lacked when he was out of the team due to injury.

Daniher, Hipwood, Rayner, Cameron, Lohmann, Bailey is a quality forward line. Bit more potent than GWS'

Lions were very lucky to win
When the pressure was high
Giants looked quick and slick
Had momentum and surged
After Q3 blitz celebrated early.
Went into time wasting mode,
A common fatal football mistake
When Lions lifted, Giants cruised
Two quick Giant goals lulled them.
Once you slow you can't restart
Lions made the play went in hard
Umps rewarded the ball player
Lions stole a win on guts and luck
Rather than form and system

Lions will feel euphoric and satisfied
Making it hard to get up next week
Exactly what the Cats most wanted.

I was at that prelim in 2022 and I can tell you it was definitely at the MCG. I'm sure I would've remembered the flight.

Great game.

Thanks, old white cells couldnt remember the venue, just the result.
Let's hope Danger is licking his lips ready to smash them again.

I got called an idiot by a GWS fan on the main board for making this same point about the crowd. Poor plastic chokers.

Lions kept at it but we are also hoping history repeats, if you believe in it, and it works both ways.

Fagan: It was just a matter of hanging in there and things just turned for us. We are a team that can score quickly, so we never give up on ourselves. I did say that (collapse against Sydney) happened last week. We obviously knew that. Sometimes in sport, history repeats, and it can be something in the back of your mind if you can get close enough.

Will be a tough match.IMO.
