I'm surprised at people think that what can be construed as workplace bullying is warranted.

Power dynamics exist and affect how these things work. Senior leaders in the AFL shouldn't be targeting players - let alone young players.

Doesn't matter that it's Hawthorn or that it's Ginnivan specifically - Ken knows he ****ed up and the AFL will almost certainly see it the same way.

Same as Kingsley making contact with Papley last week. It's just not on..

It’s not workplace bullying, they don’t work together and Ken isn’t his boss.

Ginnivan is a man, he is fully culpable for his actions. If Sicily wasn’t such a hot head he would’ve taken the higher ground and would’ve stfu and we wouldn’t be talking about it. He’s the one who compromised the chair off.

Anyway move on.

Hawks seem to have a soft underbelly
Always had it , they do act like victims at the best of times and the diving and sucking in the umpires have really crept into their game …which ironically make Ginni a perfect fit for them

Mitchell is just carrying the torch for being hypocritical like Clarkson was that’s all

After a game When it’s all over …I could understand if it was half time and Ginni was mouthing off at them but when the game was well and truly over and they have won?

Yeah I dont think that’s the best sportsmanship being displayed by a senior coach personally
No it’s not, but neither is completely disrespecting an opponent before the game.. I’m confused why there is a cut off for class. My view, ginnivan acted like a flog, Ken got his own back coz they won but he acted like a flog as well..

It's so annoying that Hinkley's verbal needling of the Hawks players has to morph into this insufferable, hyper-serious meta commentary about what is acceptable for coaches to say to players in today's game. And I'm sure Hinkley will be hit with a fine and be forced to make some boring, grovelling apology. The game as a product doesn't benefit from being forceily sanitised like this. Can't fans just form opinions on Hinkley's action and react to it without a media pressure campaign and AFL intervention to eliminate that sort of colour and personality from the sport? Let people who hate it do so and let people who love it do so. Allow it to become part of the banter. This is the sort of thing that people should just be able to either hate Hinkley for or love Hinkley for. It adds to the theatre of the sport to have shit-talking and verbal fracas like this.

There's still plenty of colour in the game - the banter between Ginnivan and Grundy is colour. The dynamic between Hawthorn players and Port players is colour. The other narratives around the game are colour.

You have to stratify it due to the power dynamics involved and the fact that the AFL is a workplace at the end of the day. It'd be an HR meeting in any organisation.

The game's not being forcefully sanitized - people just have higher standards for coaches - especially one of Ken's time in the game.

I don't hate Hinkley for his actions, I'm embarrassed for him - surprised he didn't yell Ginnivan to get off his lawn. Got absolutely triggered by a comment on social media by a little shit of a player - it's revealing.

I tend to think with a game being over and hands been shaken it’s best to just move on rather than brining up a social media post made well before the game that really shouldn’t matter after a finals win

But each to their own it wasn’t like Ginni was mouthy off at them after the siren

Well if this were a typical workplace, Ken wouldn't be the only one pulled into HR.

What you're grasping at is ludicrous.

Hinkley recognised post game that he probably didn't react as he wanted or should've, but there was a lot of emotion going into the game, and it's hard to pinpoint where and how it started.

In honesty, I didn't like the look, but then Ginnivan blatantly disrespected them on social media for all the world to see, so it isn't hard to see how / why they took to him when he / Hawthorn failed to walk the talk.

Hawthorn failed. They ain't gonna see Sydney in 14 days.

Not hard to see why Hinkley threw it back in their face on the back of a close, emotionally charged game.

He is human after all.

Is Sicily a senior member, as captain?

Just trying to figure out the logic in here.

Sicily's Ginnivan's team leader, Mitchell is their manager but he's fairly new to the management game.

Hinkley's the manager of another department who's been with the organisation for 40 years and has decided to go after a fairly new hire because he took offence to some banter between the newish hire and one of his former colleagues in another department altogether.

That's fine - player to player stuff is fine provided it isn't racist/homophobic etc.

Ken's actions were wrong, he's admitted it, the AFL will agree and he'll be fined. People in here will think he's hard done by for some reason 😏

If he's fined so be it. I don't give a toss.

I just find it odd you're comparing it to workplace bullying when the coach of our club has done the same thing.

Bizarre.

Hey -what do we really care, not enough to bait each other. They won't be doing this rubbish when we beat them by 119.
To quote a confident upstart: See you in 14 days. Maybe.

No emotion doesn’t get brought into an overreaction to a social media post that didn’t matter …if that’s triggering a senior coach to antagonise a player/team after the siren in a win then he deserves a lot of scrutiny for his behaviour

Ginni is a flog and will rightly ..albeit a bit too late ..be told to pull his head in with the social media stuff ect but at the end of the day he’s a immature kid

What’s Kenny excuse? Old enough to know better and an actual leader of thw club
