Watching the teams come out is the first time I’ve been really annoyed we didn’t win last week. What if!?! Could’ve easily been a Geelong v Giants GF! Game of inches & moments!

Anyway carn the Lions!

I read that recently, Darcy and another guy who hates Cornes tried to ambush him on MMM (verbally, not physically), and Cornes wiped the floor with them. Made them look like complete idiots.
Good on Kane, I don't mind him. IMO he has mellowed in my mind and he is right far more often than not.

Darcy is an A-1 flog in the media.

Kane has a ratio of 1 dogshit take to get his name in circulation and then follows it with 3 well thought out or researched points.
Its a better strikerate than a lot of other footy talking heads, like Caroline "should the head coach have a sleeve tattoo?" Wilson.

So since the pre finals bye was introduced we’ve now had 2 teams win flags from outside the top 4.

It won’t be going any time soon. Dillon on SEN the other day mentioned that while he knows it’s a bit of a disadvantage to the top 4, it makes the finals more equal because it gives the bottom 8 teams the best chance of winning it and that’s what the fans want.

Love it or hate it, it’s here to stay.

Rather it be a pre-GF bye so that if a player is concussed in the prelim it gives them a chance to recover for the big game rather than simply be ruled out immediately

Just need us to make the GF multiple times outside the top 4 for it to be scraped

You know the AFL would do it

The pre finals bye exist because of the betting companies
To avoid mass restings in final round games

Every time it comes up I keep saying this, watch it change the second its a big name it happens to.

If it happened in 2019 with Dusty they probably postpone the GF til he is ok.

It's happened in the AFLW with a key player missing the grand final due to concussion but that's not big enough for it to matter

It'll happen one day in the AFL and teams will either play down a head knock in a prelim and not rule the player out concussed, or if they have no option but to rule the player out, it'll become the whole focus of GF week, especially if it's a big enough name

Not that it matters, but is there a coach who does? I can't visualise one right now.

The bye has been in place for 9 seasons.

For the 9 seasons prior to it being introduced, the average margin in the GF was 43. Huge difference.

I don’t think the winning margin is the issue. It’s the disadvantage it thrusts on the top 4 teams that’s the issue. Particularly the winners of the qualifying finals.

Released publicly this week , the million $ pay packet earners , Tim Kelly 5th highest at $1.1m , what a joke ,more like what a take , no wonder West Coast have fallen and fallen mighty hard

Fyffe yes a very very good player but that was several seasons back , 1.15 million that is seriously hurting Fremantle , dont know his current contract situation , but on the season just gone , you could just about delist him , big deal

This relates to the recent discussion on the timing of the finals bye

Average was probably 40 points the decade before the pre finals bye too
(Includes 1 pt 2006/ 119pts 2007)

GF have a tendency to get messy because once the cause is lost the losing team doesn't want to be there and the winners are running on air!
