O'Keefe keen to deal for the right price

I'd be majorly pi$$ed if we gave up selection #6 for O'Keefe. Giving up a potential 10+ year player for a maybe someone who we'd get 3-4 years out of.

Would be very disappointed myself if this happened.

Let Collingwood or Hawthorn take him for that price, he isn't for us.

what about potentially winning 3 flags with okeef and picking up a dud at 6?
okeef could blow our window right open!

And what if our window doesn't open and we're left stranded half way?

Not a good philosophy to have. Look at Fremantle, and then look at Hawthorn.

You have your answer.

ROK seems just like a pure and utter mercenary, shopping himself around for the highest possible dollar value ... He only wants to play for money, not the jumper ...

PASS ..

Up until two weeks ago he managed himself and very little was said about him. Now he has appointed a management group, he's all over the place. I blame his manager and not him for shoppoing himself around. $600,000 a year for him is a joke, even $500,000 is to much.

What about Judd Parrot?

Nathan Brown is probably a better example of a player who only plays for the $ and the property deals of course. He never has had much passion for your Club. Judd was offered the same by several Clubs, but he went through an exhaustive interview process to find out the CLub with the most talented young list and best future. He made the right choice. O'Keefe hasn't even bothered to meet with any Club, hasn't nominated anyone, and is just letting his manager run around bidding up his price. A big difference. :)

He is being paid what he would at any other club. He left Perth for family reason, he chose Carlton because he wanted to play in a young team and because he didnt want to play for Collingwood or Melbourne (who wants to play for those two teams anyway?)... I didnt include Richmond because face it who in their right mind wants to play for Richmond?

It's so funny how the Tiges supporters flip-flop around on the reasons they didn't get close to getting Judd. During last years trade week we were assured by RFC that they could pay more than what we were offering, and now they're saying it was just the money? The fact is Judd spoke with the Dees, Pies, Dons and Blues, but refused to speak with the bumbling Miller for obvious reasons. They didn't even get to first base despite holding the upper hand in terms of PSD and draft picks. It was just a classic Miller Disaster. :)

If youre calling Brown a mercenary I would probably say to you yeah he doesnt bleed yellow and black like Richo. But my point is most players realise that their footy careers are limited to 10-14 years and will get what they can while they can. O'Keefe's no exception.

His mercenary approach is no reason to overlook him is it?

Average player career is 2-3 years I believe.

Come on.

Playing the Devils advocate here, but who really believes he came back to Melbourne because he was homesick?

We offered him a good deal (the best deal) and he took it. He didnt owe us any allegiance.

This shouldn't shock anyone.

Devil's advocate or otherwise, the coin has nothing to do with him being at Carlton, he would have gotten his asking price no matter which club he went to, or if he stayed @ WC...

Possibly felt his career had not been blessed with any tradition. West Coast has as much tradition as a butterfly's fart.
