Except for 2015 which was Pyke and 2018 which was Mitchell.

Obviously.
The joys of being a senior manager.

When everything's great, it's because of the staff around you.

When everything's shit, it's entirely your fault and yours alone.

Not really, it is a certainty that the assistant coaches will be shaken up and will be seen as the problem in the off season. Nothing is going to happen to Simmo so as far as he is concerned it wasn't me!!

I oft wonder how much Daniel Pratt going to the Beagles has impacted the senior team. Seems to have them playing a much more aggressive brand of footy. Perhaps the assistant coaches aren't as good as relaying the message as he is? Seems a bit underrated tbh.

This is not correct. The players mandated break is from the club and it's processes. If the player chooses to go for a jog or a hard run every day or every third day to stay in good shape there is nothing that stops him doing this on his break unless he is on a rehab program.
You don't seriously think these guys sit on the couch for 6 weeks do you?

Pretty clear I was stating that they can't be around the club for 6 weeks, not that they were prohibited from training on their own for that time.

players and club. Who do you think gives the players programs when they’re away from the club? But players should have their own motivation to train and succeed. If you are relying on the club, I’m surprised you made the AFL to begin with. There’s a thing called the draft camp. I doubt there’s the culture within the club for players to push each other. Pretty obvious why we can’t run out a game and why we have so many soft tissue injuries. Why does this offend you? Do you think we are super fit abs amazing?

Mate, you're basically entering "fold the club" territory now. You want; the players, the coaches, the medical staff and the recruitment staff gone. It's nonsensical.

Secondly, you state you want all these changes and I've asked how they are going to happen and you still can't give a viable solution. No one is offended - stop making shit up - you're heading the same direction that got you banned a week ago because you seem unable to discuss things reasonably or deal with a difference of opinion.

I think the form of Darling is a major example of where our teams form is.

A bloke who has put together patches of games almost Carey like, is for the last 6 weeks or so, playing more like McDougall.

He was struggling to mark the ball whenever a defender was close enough to touch him, his first goal was a rather soft free, he should be smashing packs, not be sent flying with a light touch, its as if he just hopes a team mate will come flying through and grab the mark, out positioned, out muscled, its hard to watch.

The club needs to get the attitude right and have our blokes playing near their peak, they are a mile off at the moment.

:-(

January time trial. You could be confused that this was a year 8 school cross country how slow most are running. This is 4 months since the last game, the writing was really on the wall there. You watch and tell me how many players had committed to 4 months of excellence? Looks more like 4 months of comfort.

Slow mo footage shows they’re running slow. Weird response to a very straight forward question.

Over the journey, since we’ve been in the AFL, who would you rather be than the Eagles? Not who would you rather be as of Round 22, 2021. Who would you rather be since the Eagles started - the Eagles or someone else?

Not a negative or positive but I’d like to know WTF happened during lightning break.

1. Did someone give players a bake?
2. Did players decide to turn it on?
3. Did Melbourne put the cue in the rack?
4. ???????

The change in the intensity of our players was to behold.

Its all about energy. Simmo gave out some red bulls.

From the shots of them in the rooms, they looked pretty relaxed. The camera was mainly focused on the midfielders and they just looked to be talking and in pairs mucking around with the ball to stay warm. You could see an animated Hickmott talking to some of the players, but overall it looked pretty calm. I was a bit worried that they were taking it too easy, but then they came out and smashed it. Melbourne seemed pretty pumped when they showed them and they ran out onto the field early to go through an on-field warm-up.

We could easily be reading too much into it, but if it does indicate a trend, then I agree with those who suggest that the shackles were off and the players were allowed to play uninhibited.

why live so far in the past? Let’s keep to discussing the current and future. Why should we not keep improving? Your attitude seems similar to the players… we won in 2018, hard works just not worth it anymore.

and sorry you clearly have no athletics knowledge or background if you can’t tell the players are running slow. If anyone bar sheed and Cole (day light third) broke 7 minutes I’d be surprised. That’s primary school athletics time

Matthew Nicholls can go firmly into the bin. He has a misshapen head that lacks consistent calls.
My favorite was in the last qtr, ball in Melb fp and the umpire in the middle of the ground calls a free kick for us which Nichols 10 meters off the play with unimpeded view didn't see apparently, other bloke must of been sick of him making them look bad.

yep, I’m not the only one wanting changes to coaching, fitness and recruiting, and for players to have more of a crack during the preseason away from the club. Solution is to find better coaching staff with new ideas. Put an add in the paper, see who applies. Approach people. Pinch the best. All of the above. I’m happy for performance based contracts.Happy to look outside afl for fitness staff. Not that hard

It’s not living in the past mate, and saying so is a particularly high level deflection. When you’re talking about the Eagles history and culture, I have nothing to draw on except the Eagles history and culture.

We are top tier for finals. We are top tier for flags. We are top tier for grand finals appearances. First for members. First for cash. What culture of excellence is there in the AFL that we don’t embody? Who has a “culture of excellence” that we don’t?

Culture of excellence to me is being consistently good. Culture of excellence to me is winning as many or more flags than everybody else. Culture of excellence says bouncing back from adversity quickly, eg no long stretches outside the eight, finishing wooden spoon then backing it up with a top four/prelim the following year.

My question is if the Eagles do not have a culture of excellence, who in the AFL does?

Eagles had not much time and a lot of goals to score. If they didn't move the footy fast, time would get the better of them.

The way they came out playing had nothing to do with a rev up or a change of tactics. It was simply the players playing with urgency.

The bigger question is, will Simmo tell them to throw the current game plan out the windows next week and just move it fast, or do we go back to the good ole backwards kicking rubbish?

To be fair, the club still has high hopes that Cameron will finish his time trial before the end of the season.
