Ball movement >>> pace

Geelong's mids bar Ablett weren't super quick , Hawk's mids bar Hill and Smith aren't super quick - pace is overrated, how you quickly you move the ball be it by hand like Geelong during their reign or by foot ala Hawthorn is much much more important.
So true and I love how we always have runners running past when we mark across half back. Some of our transitions have been unbelievable. Simmo is pushing them hard.

And we're now so clean in hitting guys on the move instead of slightly missing targets so they get it flat footed. Always appear faster when you get it without breaking stride.

Sheed also demonstrating that pace is overrated. The knock on him at the draft was that he was average paced and average agility, but he can win the ball, is (predominantly) clean with it and is a smart footy player. Very happy with Shred.

Geelong had incredible pace out of the back half of the ground and Hawthorn have precision kicking.

I figure pace on every line is better than not having it, just hard to have guys with pace who aren't a little more outside. Players with more pace tend towards outside roles as they're developed and positioned to play there.

Wellingham, Sheppard have good pace.

Masten, Gaff, Sheed are nippy enough - Shuey and Naitanui are the only ones with pure pace.

Cripps, Darling, Hill, Kennedy, Lecras are all quick.

We have enough 'pace' in the team - no one in the Rioli/Jetta category - but we're not a slow team.

Ummmmm missing someone?

Watching yeo chase jetta last week was fantastic - normally hed just coast to coast us gaining ground the whole time - but he had to dodge, weave and get rid of it as yeo was on his hammer all the way

Sinclair is actually quite skillful at ground level and at giving it off by hand - I've noticed this the last month. Also, his marking and tapwork has improved to the point where he is clunking them regularly and gives off the odd hit out to advantage.

His kicking is still piss poor. He takes far too long to move the ball forward. I feel like I know him personally because I stare at his face for so long after he takes a grab/gets a free kick - seriously, the camera is on him for about 10 seconds each time. When he finally does kick it, it goes too high and with no penetration - Kennedy routinely looks ropeable after a Sinclair kick has been landed on top of his head in a 2 on 1.

But I'll complete this compliment sandwich by saying that his positives far outweigh his negatives and he is clearly ahead of Lycett at this point. If he can learn to handball it off quickly after a mark (unless he is in the goal square), he'll do better. That said, I was beaming when he slotted that goal on the weekend. Statistically, it was his career-best game, taking home a lofty 13.8 AFL player ratings points. Onwards and upwards Sinkers!
