Re: Red & Black > Piss & Poo

Just been browsing the comedy pages (aka Hawks bigfooty page). I honestly can't believe they are happy with what went on yesterday. Once again just like the famous line in the sand game they are happy with the fight and once again like that famous day they got a flogging. I'm all into flying the flag but that was the quickest Campbell Brown ran all day. And then the big bad wolf huffed and puffed with finger pointing bravado. But strangely after that moment Hawthorn lacked the will or want to put their head over the ball and win the football. That is true courage, that is true toughness. And just a message to Campbell Brown, you do not have to live up to your fathers insipid reputation.

who the F#$#$ cares if we loose next week.........we done what we had to do this year keep the hawkz out of the finals CHEOWWWWWWW

Paul Hamilton

Well done Paul Hamilton - great speaker for the club (unlike some). Stands up for our club and players and speaks with great reason and poise! An excellent pick up this year! :thumbsu:

Re: Red & Black > Piss & Poo

Your first win over Hawthorn this year was deserved and showed how much your team had improved, but this win was pathetic. The gloating about how great an act Lloyd's KO of Sewell is beyond belief.

The funny thing is that you actually think you have a finals campaign to worry about. Enjoy the first 10 minutes of next week's game because after that your season will be over.

"Hamilton refused to comment further on the matter saying that, unlike Hawthorn, Essendon now has a finals campaign it needs to focus on."

Re: Paul Hamilton

Certainly put Hawthorn on the back foot this morning, no doubt about it.

What I have learnt this year

On reflection of the year I have noted these things since preseason:

- Ryder is going to be a star ruckman (why do they still call him a backman in the paper!?). How exciting to have the Ryder / Hille combo next year. Here's hoping these 2 and Laycock stay injury free.
- Lovett and Winderlich (who I doubted) are so important to our structure.
- Gumbleton and Neagle are no less of an unknown.
- Losing Lucas and Lloyd won't hurt us too much at all (despite the above point).
- Hooker and Daniher both look to be players, providing us with depth in oncoming kpp. We have draftet very well previous years: Hurley, Pears, Ryder, Dempsey, Zaharakis, Hooker, Daniher, Reimers, Davey, (Unknowns: Houli, Jetta, Gumby, Myers, T.Slattery, Still)
- Pears and Hurley are are our best young players along with Ryder. Both easily in the league's top 10 best juniors this year.
- Houli, Jetta, Myers have shown no improvement this year.
- Prismall will be a very good player for us.
- Dyson can actually play this game!
- Bellchambers is far from ready for AFL football
- McPhee and LM are very important to us. I wanted them both gone at the end of last year but have both proved valuable to our side, even if it is to provide depth. People calling for these two to be traded need to realise what we would received for them (if anything) would not match their value to our side.
- Zaharakis looks the goods.
- Skipworth is ok but not in our best 22. Was only a small gamble (considering it was only a preseason draft pick) that may still pay off, but I doubt it. Hindsight is wonderful but imagine what value Cousins would have had for us.
- Nash and Williams are gone.
- We are closer to premiership contention then I previously thought.

Re: Paul Hamilton

I didn't think his comments were ill-toward @ Hawthorn, as opposed to Campbell Brown more directly, but when he mentioned double standards he has opened up a whole new can of worms there.

I expect comments between Essendon and Hawthorn officials to get a little testy this week. Especially if Jeff Kennet weighs in.

Re: Paul Hamilton

Just read it. You are a good man Paul Hamilton. Campbell Brown on the other hand....I look forward to us playing you again next year, see how tough you are after the big threats you have made.

Re: Please read.

I really hope Gumby hits his potential, not just for our club's sake, but for Hurley's as well. I want our spine to be...

Neagle
Gumbleton
Watson
Hooker
Pears

and give Hurls a utility role. Now you might argue that might hinder his ability to develop if you throw him around a bit, but in my opinion, he's come to us as a very complete footballer and just needs experience (especially defending).

Could be a Pavlich for us. Play him whereever we need a tall guy the most. Expect Pav can run and that's something Hurls can still work on.

Re: does lloyd have grounds for legal action

I am finding it amusing that when Buddy knocks someone out it is called the death of the bump but when Lloyd does it he is a dog or sniper.
Hypocrisy at its best.

If anyone wants the definition of a sniper i would suggest they look at Bateman who goave Lloyd the even up after Lloyd had disposed of the ball and when he was not looking.
The Hawks need to look in their own back yard before making statements to the world about snipers!
Bateman is yet another ****ing dog wearing a Hawthorn jumper. The funny thing is, the Hawks supporters loved it, and clapped him off afterwards. It was intentionally dirty, unlike Lloyd's.

This isn't just based on yesterday, either. About two years ago my brother pointed out to me that Bateman often goes to ground in a tackle as to receive a free kick for a high tackle; he holds up players behind play; he often makes little whacks on his opponent behind play. He's a dog of the highest order.

Upstaged only by Campbell 'sniper' Brown.

Re: Red & Black > Piss & Poo

...Did you fail English by any chance, or dropped as a baby?

By the end of the round 7 game we had no fit players on the bench, no doubt you were gonna run away with the game. It was only the 3rd quarter and last quarter in which you guys actually were able to capitalise on your advantage.

You guys all know deep down that the Lloyd bump was just uncalled for and that you would've have won if 2 key players in Bailey and Sewell were severely injured.
