Porps was on 5AA a few minutes ago, saying that he still hadn't recovered from the 3 hour training session today.

They asked Porps what was the difference between training under Neil Craig and Sando, and he said basically not much apart from the bikes being tossed out and more strength work.

Any difference between last year and this year? A greater emphasis on running this year due to training starting 2 weeks later than last year.

Bones and Wildy commented on Porps strong physique and he said that he had worked hard on it to make sure that he had the strength in his shoulders to make sure that he got through the year okay - played 22 matches last year.

Porps went on to talk about Tex and what a brute he is now - over 100 kgs and setting new records in the gym. He sounded very much as if he is in awe of the beast that Tex has become.

They asked Porps about Kerridge - how was he looking? Porps said that he virtually had the body of a man last year and had come on nicely this year. Kerridge is one of that group who didn't get chances last year because of our good run with injuries.

When asked who had stood out to him trying to get into the side he said Lynch and Crouch. He said Lynch had been a stand out to him and that there is an opportunity for him this year (not sure about that myself.

He said that Crouch had been very impressive. Reminded him of a Patrick Dangerfield at the same age. All he wanted to do was to improve himself and asked a lot of questions about ways he could do it. Porps sounded really wrapped in Crouch and his approach to his football.

Finally, Wildy said that he had heard that a Crow had recently become engaged. Yes, said Porps, it's David Mackay who has successfully proposed to his girlfriend, but he's keeping all the details of the proposal to himself. :)

Unfortunately I reckon I've read on here a few times that Bling has torn it up on the training track, but just cant bring it in games. I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Did anyone else throw up a bit in their mouth when they read that we'd "poached" one of Port's recruiting staff?

Just think... the next Pittard, Young, O'Shea, Moore or Lobbe could be headed our way

Nah, he's the good one who spotted Boak

Boak???? Pick 5?? no thanks..... good player at best..... vastly over-rated IMO

I reckons its only been training reports this preseason saying such. Last year he was one of the top boxers and got a lot of plaudits for that, but little was mentioned about his actual training. Certainly reports weren't glowing about his first preseason at the club, not so much effort related, but skills etc were sub par. It would not surprise me at all if he had a great year this year, he's been steadily building since Craig left.

On a side note, I'd hope he'd NEVER handball to Dowdell! One of the first rules of football is "never pass to a ruckman!"

I'm not sure I like Crouch being the same as Dangerfield was at the same age, considering Dangerfield trained himself into a year-long injury that was so devastating that we permanently altered the way our first year players were brought into the system.

Though I am in favour of him repeating Dangerfield's feat of injurying of both of Brad Symes' wrists at the same time!

Injury trolling!

Dangerfield, secretly on the selection panel before his time...

I don't remember Danger having a serious injury, didn't he spend the year playing in the TAC comp?

This is salient. Tex is coming right into his prime as far as physical prowess goes for a key position forward. What is he - 23 this year? The next 3 seasons are as good as we'll see Tex's body. He'll throw that 100kgs around week in week out. He'll cop plenty of bruises, knees in the ribs and punches to the earhole in that time.

We need to make the most of this period of Tex's career. Because physically, he won't have the same resilience in his late 20s. The size yes, but not the resilience.

Wasn't that Mackay?

Wasn't that Mackay?

Yeah, pretty sure it was Mackay. Came in had a great preseason, gunned it in his first 2 matches of the season for Souths, only to tear his hamstring and spend the rest of the season on the sideline with a "4-6 week" injury.

Dangerfield's barely missed a game with injury since he was drafted, spent his first year in Victoria of course, but since then he's barely missed a game. There were questions when he moved over here about whether he'd trained hard enough in Victoria, but he was still fit enough to play round 1 2009.

The words " not hard enough" and Danger don't belong in a sentence together. Danger does everything at full throttle

Cheers for the recap Macca :thumbsu:

Whilst I haven't actually listened to the interview, sounds like it would have been a refreshingly relevant interview, compared to the usual crap Cornsey and Rowey throw up. Had Cornesy been there, he would have wanted to know all about the coming nuptials of Mackay and his girl, and Porps would have been stuck trying to ask whether they wanted to know about the preseason at all, only to be drowned out by Cornsey recounting about how Rodrick such and such had presided over his first wedding, as he tries to hide the fact that he has NFI about modern day football and probably has no idea who >50% of the Crows players are.
