Only joking about friends and family.
I think Draper is suffering from his good showing in his first three or four games which exceeded the expectations of some. Now the some are expecting him to perform like a 50 - 100 game player.
Could Davies do any better? Who knows. He doesn’t seem to have a reputation as an attacking defender if that is what is required in the role.
The selectors will deliver their view on Thursday/Friday.

Give Davies a couple games experience in the AFL before Cox comes back and see how he goes. I don't see any reason not to based on Draper's output over the past few weeks. It's not like we'd be losing anything. Gives us another option in case one of our KPDs get injured later in the year.
Seems unlikely because Justin said the other day that the backline has now been fixed now that Draper has been brought in for Cox

Does it really matter if Draper keeps getting outmuscled and pushed off the ball though? Much rather Chapman or Ryan play tall.
Don't agree. We need Chapman and Ryan to be less accountable to make the most of their offensive skill. Making them an accountable tall back is not worth fitting in an extra runner.
Much better to play a defensive specialist like Davies to free up the others even more.

I would like to see Voss come back in. Could develop into a Mihocek like player in our forward set up.
To get the best out of Treacy I think he benefits from short stints as backup ruck.
Similarly Jackson needs to have maximum involvement in the play. If not as No1 ruck, then playing a lot of midfield minutes as well as going forward at times. Probably different from the role envisaged preseason.

Yeah bring back the Voss.
I do think both Fyfe and Walters would benefit from a week off and I mean not playing WAFL either. With us having a bye the week after it would give them 2 weeks to rest and recover. Id bring Voss, Freddy and Erasmus into the 22. Fyfe, Walters, Emmett out. Have Jackson and Switta rotate midfield. While Erasmus spends time forward and midfield.

Got a long break between games, Friday to Sunday.

I reckon Fyfe needs continuity if anything.

Not sure a break does anything for Sonny, he’s just cooked.

I agree on Fyfe. Don’t we have a 9 day break or something. Fyfe struggled bending forward for some reason. Walters is no good at the moment. Reckon that hand injury is impacting him and now is a good time to give him the necessary rest or medical treatment to get sorted.

Tomlinson and day will dominate us next week. Need a huge lift from amiss and Jackson. Aerial contest will be huge

Haven't read all comments. But is there a world we drop Amiss for Voss to find form to dominate in the WAFL, seems to have the yips plus lacking confidence.

Love to see Freddy for Walters. Walters said himself he's going to play until they tap him on the shoulder, so selection committee needs to have balls, but yet to see evidence of that. He won't volunteer to be dropped.

Like what wags brought, keep him in. Pick from Emmett/Simpson/Ras/sturt as sub.

We'd basically never drop Amiss (nor do I think we should). I think the only way Voss plays when Triple J + Darcy are available is if the intention is to free Jackson up to do more unicorning. Even then, I doubt we do that just because of the loss in mobility and pressure (though with the way some of the smalls are performing, I wouldn't mind seeing it).

As a side note, the idea of freeing Jackson up from the fwd line long-term is another reason why I wouldn't mind us chasing Zurhaar. Rather than adding another pure tall, you'd be adding a medium that can play taller with Jackson up the ground, can play in the same fwd line as the 3 talls or can push up the ground for spells where the ruck rests fwd.

Dropping a fav son son is going to have to come soon and JLo needs the balls to do it. Alice Springs does not appeal as a Fyfe favourite unless he’s there as a sub.

I'm not sure a dewy ball up in the NT and Steven nutcase May on him will help his cause.

But also treating Amiss as a baby and not letting him know the realities of AFL isn't a great move, either.
Honestly think Amiss could use a break, he has been beaten up week after week. A week in the WAFL to work on his kicking would be good for him (all young players should need this occasionally). His confidence has taken a beating and his output is way down. He's a professional and no player should be un-droppable if their form is down for several weeks.

I think Voss's form deserves a reward and having watch him at Peel on the weekend I think his attitude and output is something we need in the team.

Couldn’t agree more. Voss is 195cm but plays as a medium/small forward. None of his 5 goals on the weekend came from contested marks, 2 on the lead, 2 ground balls and one where the opposition FB while kicking out drilled it to him 15m out. I wouldn’t be adverse to replacing Emmett with Voss but I don’t know what his tank is like to play more up the ground.

I would honestly bring Voss in for Emmett, Emmett has had enough time in this run to show something and he hasn't done it, let him go back to the WAFL and earn his spot back, Voss is a little tall for that role but he's versatile enough to make it work in my opinion.

Surely this one is under 160 points total for the game?

Hopefully no injuries this week. Will be sad watching Dogga run rings around us again, this game isn't at the MCG so I'm much more confident.
You guys are like the forgotten Vic team. All season long the VFL has boned Freo by consistently matching us up with teams who have had a longer break. However, this weekend we get an extra two days on Melbourne. A few of our guys played like they needed a long break last Friday, Jackson being one of them.

You may be right that he dominates again.

Vossy is an elite distance runner according to Essendon fans he was one of their better 2km runners in 2022/2023 preseason training.
