I remember the crowd leaving despite the result being very close, just disgusted with the effort. First year of AO home games too and we shit the bed all year.
I think that's why I remember it so well. It was my first Adelaide Oval game and it was just energy draining. A shit house team that gave us chance after chance but we couldn't take them and played ourselves out of it.

Thought McHenry was one of your best in the last, don’t understand the hate around here.
Whaaaat the hell how did you come to that .
His first possession was a throw and not under pressure and his second a handball to the back of one of our players head .
He fumbled as usual and yes he did that handball to Dowling but please what the hell else did he do .

What the **** is this Clubs obsession with Laird?

A limited footballer who had a purple patch years ago, and is still living off of it.

He's a good back pocket, play him there, because he is a shit midfielder.

I said we should've traded him when he had that one decent season, wish we did.

I wonder whether Laird has all but had his contract paid and he's paying for next to nothing these days. He just rolls around with little care or intensity. Let him finish his career with us in the SANFL.

What about Murphy dropping the uncontested mark 35 metres out deep in the pocket with 5 minutes to go?

Arched his back too much thinking he was going to get crunched and eyes went too far under the ball.

Shouldn’t play again at afl level.

The silly thing with selection is that whilst Rob is utterly useless around the ground; can’t kick, can’t mark and has no idea what a soft handball in front of a moving player is; he often gets his hands on the footy first at ruck contests which helps the midfielders premeditate where to move to and against a similar shaped body like nank he would have held his own.
Ahh thanks. Listening on Triple M and I heard the mistake

Then Roo says '' Lachie Murphy the bravest player at the club''

How about being good

Nick’s saying we’re down on confidence, less than 2 weeks after blowing out West Coast

Less than 2 weeks ago

We’re soft front runners, we don’t lack confidence we lack quality

We also lack hunger. We're not a football club, Nix is a social worker, not a coach.

Injuries aside, you simply cannot dish up that absolutely putrid 'effort' and so called 'response' like we did in first quarter.

Nicks has completely lost the players.

Oh c'mon.

He ran around and got frenzied.

On a brighter note. I saw something else in Borlase. He looked like he was happy to be cut loose from being a one on one stopper. Attacked the game pretty well I thought, and was end to end running in parts. Early criticism was that he doesn't have the tank but I feel he's gone past that now. He's by no means quick but he generally positions himself well. He's strong as and actually takes a strong grab. He's not a specialist kicker but he can roost a ball. Maybe we should explore that with him up forward while Tex and Thilthorpe are out of the game.

Oh, and shoulders. Did I mention shoulders?

The fact that Nicks can’t see that Laird plods around and stat pads…

Nicks deserves everything he gets.

Laird seriously reminds me of McGuiness, McDermott and A Jarman when Blight came in. Blight saw them for what they were and put the broom through them. All three were still racking it up, but offered no defensive pressure at all.
When he refused to come off the ground and Soligo was stuck on the bench for over 10mins I thought exactly the same thing.

Throw in Brodie Smith chucking a tantrum at the thought of being dropped.

Selfish, arrogant senior players, who aren’t as good as they think they are.

Come in, broom.

Good:
Billy Dowlings classy goal. Pity he missed that set shot, never mind.
Rachele looked dangerous and I would call out our coach as well.
Strachans goal, but he isn't an AFL ruckman.
Berry is the only one who can lay a tackle and make it stick
Michalanney and Nankervis, yep Nank missed that kick forward but he takes it on and his disposable is normally clean and productive.
If we keep going like this, we might have enough draft capital to get Sid Draper, Dyson Sharp and Tyler Welsh this year, fingers crossed!

Bad:
Another performance where a team puts 4-6 goals on us in a row, winning them the game. Whats that 8... 10 times this year?
We have become the hardest to the easiest team to play against in 12 months.

Ugly:
Berry, Dawson, Laird.
Berry, Dawson, Soligo
Berry, Laird, Soligo
Soligo, Laird, Dawson
Any danger of putting a guy who is playing well in midfield in SANFL in at a midfield contest? Just to see?

Our setup is horrible, opposition players just walk out of contests against us. Its all set up to keep the ball in but when Berry is the only guy attempting to tackle its really hard.

Forward line setup makes me long for Teague and Rahilly. Why are we so inept when we have the ball 70M out? Are they instructed to stand there for 15 seconds then long bomb?

Keays runs around blinded by the lights or the sun, but never both. We need to play for more twilight games

Where's the frenetic desperation as shown in the only two good wins we've had? Carlton and Port. That should be non negotiable week after week, but we'll learn that from the masters of it next week.

That's a mindset this coaching group has not been able to instill in the players. Sack the ****ers, all of them and start again.

Some good player moments...
  • Borlase looked a natural forward, took a great contested mark early and continued on from there, set shot technique looks good too - easy keep over Burgess as KPF/KPD depth
  • Dowling with 17 touches, a goal, 4 score involvements and even 2 clearances (despite Nicks refusing to actually play him in the middle) - great debut and never should have taken this long
  • First time I've seen Fog play without Tex and really command that number one spot - shame he didn't kick that last goal on the run, but otherwise was a good game
  • Massive first half from MM and ends up with a career high 25 touches, 11 marks and 5 score involvements - should be working on his midfield craft this off season as he's one of our best kicks I50 and that is wasted down back
  • Daws tried to take too much on at times, but glad to see him back at full fitness and still a good game
  • Nank with career high disposals and intercepted well, just has pure class

From here on there has to be a line put through McHenry, Smith, Murphy and Burgess; no excuse to be putting any games into them from here, especially with Rankine, Cook, Murray and Tex likely all available next week for AFL selection. Laird should not see another second of midfield time, give these minutes to Dowling and MM from here on. Bring Curtin in for Chayce and Taylor for Berry; I have no issue retaining Chayce and Berry for next year, but they're skating on thin ice.

David King & Kane Cornes echoing Campo & Bicks in wondering why they didn't bring Strachan in virtually for Tex & have the support for ROB from an experienced strong marking ruck. Strachan got monstered by Nankervis & Ryan, whilst doing some good stuff around the ground.

What the f does ROB win.
He can’t kick or mark, unfortunately they are prerequisites for playing AFL.
He also has no ruck craft, just bash and crash. He doesn't win ever , it’s a scramble ball on the ground all the time when ROB rucks , when does he actually lace out a player with a tap .
RoB's HTA's against Hawthorn
I was surprised by this...but it does show he's actually not too bad with HTA's...mind you Crouch was the main beneficiary...so a double whammy this week.

Yeah, bringing in Strachan against 2 ruckman, one who is a monster was a bad call in hindsight.
