Can we seriously stop blaming the umpires for our losses?

I thought despite us winning early on, Sydney still had a lot of the ball, and a lot of the territory.

The 61-39 i50 count is a damning statistic, one that surely outweighs the "massive ride from the umps".
The thing that annoys me is when they influence games and when they make decisions based on momentum. They create the momentum at times and feed off it. They hate us for whatever reason. Never been able to work out why other than they are scared of criticism over the border if they make an error that god forbid costs a Victorian team a game so they completely overcompensate to make sure that never happens. I just want fairness, not much to ask for.

Genuine question: why after the Warner hit post goal did it go to the centre bounce and with Hinge its taken at the spot?

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
It's always taken at the spot of the greatest advantage to the team being awarded the free kick, between where the incident happened or where the next point of play is.

As our free was after a Swans goal, the greatest advantage point is where the next point of play is, not where the free was paid.

The Swans greatest advantage point was where the incident happened, not at the centre bounce.

I hope that makes sense.

cleanhands - soon soon could even be this week
I want Nicks sacked immediately  :grimacing:.
Tonight :madv1:.

Won't happen.

Blind Freddy can see that he is Coaching us to Nowhere, but the people who gave him that unwarranted, mystifying, ridiculous 2-year extension are the same idiots who now have to sack him.
It would be an admission that they got it wrong.
Very wrong, so wrong that on principle alone, they'd have to resign.

They won't do that.

The players should make the call. They need to speak up.

I'm out again for a while. I'll leave this place to the brilliant brains trust that will solve everything, complaining about Adelaide losing but somehow conveniently not willing to acknowledge that the AFL constantly screws us and we lose from that.

Have a good night.
Bye.

No, but the patch of bad umpiring that cost 3 goals killed all our momentum and we are not a developed enough team to move beyond that.

If we play a decent 1st half and lose every single game, at this point I don't care. As long as Reid has no say in our draft picks.

I am of the opinion that Ogilvie has been directed the pick the best " we need elite pace" and "we need the most tenacious player" which has landed us Jones and McHenry and Scholl.... all.decent as depth players but maybe not at the picks they were taken at.... Ogilvie was there as we navigated our way arround Tippeetgate, but was absolutely hobbled after the Gibbs trade.

I’m sorry, are you implying that Jones, Ned and Scholl have elite pace? Because that might be a worse call than leaving Keane on Amartey tonight. Scholl has skills but he is the slowest player on our list and even his best friends couldn’t call him a good contested player, and Ned and Jones also have no ability to get separation like the Sydney midfield did tonight.

I honestly think our entire problems can be laid on our recruiting department. I have been amazed for years that Ogilvy doesn’t get more scrutiny about our early draft picks. In the last 8 years this is our return from top 30 picks.

‘16 - Gallucci - Bust
‘17 - Fogarty - Coming good but has averaged less than 1.5 goals per game.
‘18 - Jones, McHenry Hamill - Spectacular bust in a super draft, missing Butters.
‘19 - McAsey, Schoenberg - Ultimate spectacular bust.
- Worrell - very good pick
‘20 - Tillthorpe - no brainer pick who might end up great but we are still waiting.
- Pedlar, Cook, Berry - looking like 3 busts
‘21 - Rachelle - Some promise but nowhere near justifying using pick 4.
‘22 - Michalaney - F/S
‘23 - Curtin. Edwards, Ryan. Too early to call but all 3 are labouring in the 2’s.

This list is an utter indictment for a recruiting department in itself, but the absolute killer is that there is no one in the entire group playing midfield. We just lost centre clearances 19 to 4 and we haven’t spent 1 pick on a successful midfielder.

When the game is on the line the usual suspects pop up.

Jones simply can not convert basic set shots at crucial times.

Laird kicking 10m over a player's head straight to an opponent.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

I just need someone to explain holding the ball to me I just don't get it anymore
4 weeks ago it was ****ed.

3 weeks ago it was the complete opposite and even more ****ed.

And now we just flip a coin to decide which interpretation to go with in any given tackle. Which is especially ****ed.

Being honest, I can't help but feel gutted with this year. After this year it is impossible to ignore how far we've fallen. I was one who brought into what was being sold, allowing myself to believe again. I think injuries caught me off guard with how thin and weak the depth of our list really was.

I resigned myself to how this season was going to go pretty early on. The writing was on the wall with the re-signing of Nicks so early in the season after not winning a game. I knew right then and there that nothing had changed at this club and they will forever be happy with average results as long as fans keep filling up the stadium and keeps throwing cash at them.

I hope more people will stop rewarding this club because I believe this is the only way things will ever change, but I doubt we'll ever get to that point. I'm almost resigning myself to the possibility we may never win another premiership again in my lifetime and we will forever be one of those clubs which make up the numbers.

End the Strachan experiment immediately and if we can find a better ruck than ROB in the trade period fine but until then let's at least have a competitive ruckman that gives the mids some chance of getting a centre clearance.
It's just bizarre.

It's a coach who has run out of ideas and has clearly lost his players.

Tillthorpe will end up a massive bust

Sick of everyone talking up Burgess.
Burgess' credentials and results in previous appointments place him at the top of people in similar positions.
Are we unfit of lazy??
Lazy.
How lazy?
Very lazy.
Players who do not chase, block, run hard both ways are selected by Nicks week after week.
For Burgess to succeed he needs total support and buy-in from all of the Coaching Staff and players. He won't succeed, even with the best plans/methods, while Nicks rewards mediocrity.
Nicks rewards underperforming players and has obvious favourites which is counter-productive to team success, team morale and selection integrity.
Burgess' elite standards are undermined every week by Nicks' selections/favoritism and strategic failures.

I'm surprised Burgess has not resigned after Nicks' most recent, repeated failures and ineptitude.
Sydney always had free players all over the ground. Our work rate is pathetic.
Yes, and yes.
Players who underperform are only held accountable by Nicks if they are rookies/juniors.
Need proof? Laird. Murphy. Sholl. Jones, and after the last 4-6 weeks I'd even add Keays.

Better than Rob around the ground but bugger me, could he have been any more insignificant in the ruck? Absolute non entity. Pretty sure Grundy left milk and cookies out last night because this was Christmas morning for him.

At the beginning of the year when i saw the the Leadership Group I groaned and thought WTF!! My gut feeling has been justified.

Five years ago my wife asked who I would like to coach the Crows - I said Sam Mitchell!!

Jones = Butters ... McHenry = Duursma - and the list goes on .. FFS!! And lets not get into Fischer McAsey!!

And I reckon guys like Dawson, Rankine, Soligo and Michaellany might be lucky to play in a finals
game!!

And as Father time is catching up with me, I doubt i will see another Crows flag!! I think i will take 97/98 memories to my grave!

I didn't watch most of the last, but I think Keane lost the game. He should never play at FB again. He was hopeless.
Changes were in fact made on Amartey, despite comments on here. According to the commentators, Murray was shifted onto him after his second quarter, and Keane went back onto him when Murray was rested: big mistake!

A couple of more general observations: if we take out the oppo's red-time goals, we would have been a mile in front towards the end of the third. Together with our lying down in the last, does this mean there is something wrong with our fitness, or is it just the inability to apply pressure for a full quarter?

In fact, the manner of the loss was pretty predictable. When teams rely on manic pressure to vanquish the oppo, they generally run out of puff early and get run over, not just us. I think this is just one manifestation of there being so many cracks that that there is just not enough paper to cover them.

Can anyone tell me what Schoenberg and Berry actually bring to the side and why they are keeping Taylor out of the side?

Even Hately was a better footballer then those two.
