We all know that Curtin, Taylor and Bond in line to drop thanks to Nick's. Borlase will go out but we know Laird and Smith will be protected so Curtin and Taylor most likely out

He's a moron
Are we all looking forward to another 7 or 8 possession game from Murphy..and one where his ma gets off the leash when he is tracking him? Nicks loves it apparently

Nix is gunning full bore for meaningless wins. Hoping that Murray doesn't come back, I'd be strongly considering calling his year over. But we know that's unlikely. The below would result in 8 defenders, maybe Smith as sub or Hinge plays up the ground on a wing.

Into 23 - Dawson, Smith, Murray, Worrell & Crouch
Out of 23 - Curtin, Berg, Borlase, Max (susp) & Taylor or Berry or Cook
Nicks has always been his worst enemy so it will bold well for the remaining 4 games (probably continue to win the Showdown and that's it).

Agree. I just don’t see him getting involved - he has averaged just over 10 disposals over 15 games. His best return this year is 15 (once) and 9 times of that 15 he has had less than 10 disposals.

This is his 4th year in the system and at this rate he will even be poorer than Murphy.
4th year but really only his first season (always was going to take a few season to get his body right). At least he does something when he take possession unlike Murphy who we prefer not to be close to the ball.

This is classic diversion. He doesn't do something with the ball. He averages less than 10 touches, 5.5 kicks.. 2.4 score involvements per game. So around 25% of his touches are involved in scoring and he plays as a forward. 1.7 turnovers on average as well. He does below average when he gets the ball and he gets the ball below the average player

You need to watch him more closely, his possessions are very creative and even his tap to open space to an advantage of another Crows player that doesn't register as a disposal.

Dropped two elbows to the face.
Unbelievably lucky.
Is Christian on leave this week as he has suspended our players for much less.

Can't believe he didn't get games, but I'll take it.

He shows nice signs but overall doesn't impact the game enough. Not going to make a career out of the games he is putting in.. wouldn't get a game at most clubs. Everyone wants to play the youth but ultimately we need competition for spots which we don't have this year at all

That's why I said it's only really his first season despite being on the list for 4 years. If he show the same next year then sure go your hardest and his contract won't be extended.

I'm not saying he should be delisted but he shouldn't be in the 1s. He has been gifted games this year to aid his development but enough is enough

I’ve been a big advocate for cook and I’m very glad he’s been given an extended run despite his form.
Hes just not getting enough of the ball unfortunately.
I would however like to see him on the wing more than deep forward though.
I’m not going to be critical of his toughness and that’s half the reason we are in the mess we are due to too many similar players, he’s not and never will be a “tough” player.
I’ll be disappointed if he gets dropped, more because he’s putting up figures very similar to Murphy (more goals, less disposals and tackles) but no one can say this year he hasn’t been given a good run.

Agree with this. Reckon he has been in the wing rotation at times though. On the weekend he also had 5 touches in the defensive half. I'm ok with giving him a full game at this point on the wing but he's had enough exposure if it doesn't work. Time for him to push his case for the round 1 team next year. Needs a big off season

Cook is allowed to be a bruise free player as you need them at times but Shol was attacked for the same and now Rachele is the same?

By different people, (I know you’re not directing it at me) I don’t believe I’ve ever criticized those two for being soft, I’ve defended Rachele recently.

Why would you be concerned? The season is cooked.
Nothing to gain by sending a bunch of lambs to the slaughter without some mature heads to support them.

I’m all for blooding the youth over your Laird and Murphy types but if it’s for the sake of development, losing by 100 doesn’t help that. Needs to be a balanced selection.

Now that the dust has settled, here’s what I’d do next week…

Out:
Murphy (second half was putrid to a level rarely seen by any player)

Cook (needs to regain confidence at the lower level)

Himmelberg (an utterly baffling selection against Haw with Tex, Thilthorpe, ROB and Fog all in the side - anyone who thought that would work has no business being anywhere near an AFL coaching box)

Borlase (delist pile unless we trade Keane)

In:
Dawson, Ryan, Murray, Worrell

Sub:
Rachele

B: Michalanney - Murray - Keane
HB: Ryan - Worrell - Hinge
C: Sholl - Dawson - Curtin
HF: Keays - Walker - Z Taylor
F: Fogarty - Thilthorpe - Nankervis
R: O’Brien - Laird - Soligo
Int: Bond - Berry - Jones - Dowling
S: Rachele

Emg: Hamill, Edwards, Cook

(With Rankine and Crouch to replace two of Berry, Taylor, Bond, Jones the following week)

What will actually happen? Well certainly not the above, because we refuse to reward SANFL form with best 22 starting positions, and we refuse to accept that the likes of Murphy and Smith aren’t an AFL player’s sphincter.

Cook, Himmelberg, Borlase, Curtin

In:
Smith, Worrell, Murray, Gollant

Sub:
Dowling or Taylor

Perfect time to be heading to the northern hemisphere for work for a month. Will be on a plane when we kick off this week and won't be checking the scores on landing. Could care so little about how the rest of the year pans out from here. Worse than 2020 when you consider the context.

Perfect

So it's guaranteed not to happen

This is the worst time of year. Season over. Nothing to really be gained from this last month of footy.

Only thing left to come out of this is injuries.

Would love to see players that need surgery go in now. 100% of the next month needs to be focused on 2025, but have a feeling Nicks will be in self preservation mode. Think we can expect low scoring boring footy as we try to minimize our losses.
