They cleared Murray of any injury and said in the report this week that they were cautious with his management and gave him the week off. No idea where this theory that Burgo is risking players comes from.

Pedlar had to have surgery that was going to end his season, it was a free hit for him to try and play through it until the mid way point of the season. Try and get some games into him

Hmmmm.... Sounds like a niggle to me. Managed to get through an SANFL the week before with the same niggle.

Plenty of players play through niggles that require end of season surgery.
Cmon mate, an injury requiring shoulder surgery isn’t a niggle. Shoulders are a shocker of a place to get an injury, ****s a lot of stuff up including sleep.

The fact he played with it is irrelevant when the argument is he shouldn’t have, as for end of season surgery, Pedlar had his with what 8 weeks to go in the season?

Nicks selections this week will be based on believing the Crows can still mathematically make the 8. Nothing will change. :drunk:

And when it’s no longer possible he will pick his most experienced team to build momentum for next year.
Of course even if we did win some games and get on a roll he will ruin all of that in the off season.

Actually, it will only take the Dogs to win on Friday night to unofficially end the Crows season in 2024, regardless if we win on Saturday.

Similarly too if the Hawks win.

Mathematically we cannot make the 8 if either of those teams win this round.

They are playable though. There are countless players who have played through a shoulder injury. Keays did his AC joint during the 2022 season played through and required surgery in the offseason.

Not trying to claim any medical knowledge - but common sense would suggest that Pedlar's shoulder was F**** and required surgery, but that he could attempt to play through it and even if he hurt it again - it wouldn't make the injury worse.

It's a pointless exercise. Just rest up for next season.
If we were a well run Club, we should be making sure that every player is cherry ripe for a strong preseason.

That includes doing any surgeries/treatment/rehab now in preparation for this.

pretty sure plenty of players have played though with strapping and waiting til the end of the year for shoulder surgery. Porps did it for us, shoulder popped out multiple times but played through it.

Player hurts shoulder. Requires surgery, but won't be hurt further if he tries to play.

Tries to play. Re-injures shoulder and needs surgery. Will be recovered in time to participate in preseason training with no restrictions according to Burgess.

Don't see the real problem here.

Ok then.

Only Nicks will bring in Smith off injury and illness instead of Ryan. Only Nicks will drop Curtin to make way for Dawson. Only Nicks will retain Murphy.

What should happen is Himmelberg, Borlase, Murphy and Cook for Murray, Worrell, Dawson and Ryan but it wont
To be fair, there's not a single coach in the AFL who wouldn't drop Curtin to make way for Dawson.

I get the point you're making - and it's valid for Smith/Ryan and Murphy, and there are other players who should be dropped (instead of Curtin) to make way for Dawson. But taken as an individual selection, Dawson for Curtin is an absolute no-brainer.
