We will lose a lot of games playing to the level we did today, we can't even hit a target by hand half the time and we over commit to the contest a lot leaving exposed outside runners free with time and space
just loves the footy

Serious? That should of been a minimum 6-8 goal win, where each team should be. Whole coaching group and players still on notice for a long while yet. We won on the end that Hawks kids aren’t as polished as their predecessors yet. We won off the back of a bit of vintage Eddie, 1 vintage Murphy quarter and Doc and Williams finding some form.

We just barely held on against the second last team, that just got beaten by North. I understand people were gagging for a win, but the cockahoot around here - told you so - is hard to take.

That game just revealed how desperate this club is - we should be sitting middle to bottom of the top 8.

Big shout out to Pitto for that epic goal, stayed calm under pressure and executed well.
That was a Harry Madden running down the wing moment that one... made me LOL big time :D

Winning must be difficult to embrace, no matter how ugly it was

Well, that was the worst game of footy I've ever been to but man, it's great to have a win.

Walsh and weiters superb.

Overall, we are a terrible football team. I don't even know what's wrong. We have a the best under 21 mid. The best KPD and the best KPF in the league but we're sh*t.

I can only conclude it's either coaching or culture.

Our delivery into the forward 50 was beyond insanely bad. People are highlighting the positives which I get after weeks of misery - but some of those being highlighted today were the absolute worst offenders - Williams is front and center.

He had TDK and Gibbons completely on their own and bombed it to Harry - every time he would do this - it was insanely frustrating.

Our forward structure (players running into each other - eg Cripps and Harry in the last), running patterns and absolutely no idea, clear no idea, from the running backs on how to deliver into the forward.

wouldnt say we are garbage. we have a number of things to work on. one thing we looked to be doing well today is tempo,,,slowing down when we were under a lot of pressure. maybe it helped that hawks pressure was not as intense as other teams but it was a step in the right direction.

Serious? Have you watched us? Did you watch today?

A whole bunch of honourable losses where we are ran over when it counts amounts to nothing.

Our ball use and defensive schemes are deplorable.

We are so far off being a top 8 team it isn't funny.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the win. We were only slightly less shit than the team that just lost to North Melbourne. Let that sink in.

"Things to work on" is like saying the titanic was a mild mishap.

This is what worries me. I feel like we should be accounting for a team in the Hawks position easily but it didn’t seem so.

Certainly doesn’t seem to suggest we’ve ironed out any existing issues around system other than playing some players where they should be played.

We just scraped over the line - we were losing half way through the third FFS. In was a very messy, scrappy game with terrible skills.

Against the second last team - which lost to the bottom team last week.

Things can turn around fast - ...

Some thoughts:

- nice to win!
- Weitering & Walsh are superstars
- forward line was way too crowded. Should have been open for Harry to lead.
- TDK & Stocker both look like AFL footballers
- kicking must improve across the board before we will be taken seriously
- Setterfield needs to work on core strength
- liked Doc on the wing, and Williams at half back
- bring on Brodie Kemp tomorrow!
Need an assistant coach who can teach the other forwards to create "false" leads, similar to Eddies fake lead that drew the defender and allowed the kick to Harry in the goal square. That way... if a defender doesn't move off the main target up front, you can kick it to the guy making the fake lead and it just becomes a real lead. Harry from the goal square, or Eddie from 25m out.

I love Ed - but he was very costly for two quarters today - stood up well in the final quarter - I reckon he was playing very very sore during that time - could hardly get up after the second rib smashing he copped. Still looking for the Carlton mid that will be a serious enforcer.

As you already know, Stocker is one of those. Parks another. TDK another. All in time of course.

To be an intimidator on the field is, ironically, subtle. Mostly it is attitude and then hitting in hard when you get a chance. Stock and Parks hit in, and then stand over the bloke they hit. Subtle, but it sticks in minds.

What a drought we've had of aggressive, confident attitude. We need more, for sure. A key ingredient to winning rather than losing. We can only improve in this department, and we will with attrition alone.

There is definately light at the end of this Blues tunnel. We're still doing so much wrong as players and coaches, but the effort is constant and the tude is developing. We have young stars, no-one of importance to lose over the age of 27 and deep depth.

i hear you but obviously things didn't click this year as we all thought it might. sometimes that happens. you just gotta take the win and hope little by little it grows from there.

Just saw this elsewhere ...

‘Here is a stat for all those that want Teague gone

David Teague 16 wins from first 37 games , just got win 17

4 x Premiership coach Alistair Clarkson 10 wins from first 37 games

3 x Premiership coach Damian Hardwick 11 wins from first 37 games

Put that in perspective , give him a break’

This was the conversation on SEN during the week. And it was rightly correctly put in its place - Clarkson came in and did a rebuild - Teague has come in after 2 years of a full Bolton re-build.

To compare them at the same stage Teague should be winning a flag this year.

Similar for Hardwick - the comparisons are not valid at all.
