For a team that has never achieved anything … this continual arrogance after the occasional win and total belief in the illusory hype that somehow results is such a damning indictment on the playing group … their pathetic week to week mindset and the absolute undeniable inability of the coach and the coaching group to get the players up consistently is something not to behold … nobody does pretending that they’re somebody better than Carlton right now … our ability to be so predictably excellent at delivering sh*te when it matters is the stuff that would have extended the length of the Benny Hill show by many a year …

Was it Teague or Bolton who said "we got ahead of ourselves" after losing round 2 following an honourable five goal loss to Richmond in the season opener?

Absolute joke of a team

Frump, with all due respect, you are quite negative almost all of the time, even if we win. Considering a club in our position was always going to take a while to learn how to win, calling us crap all the time is a percentage play.

It's not wrong of anybody to tell people to relax until the final result is known, or else the board will be a festering pool of negativity and not worth visiting.
Fair call. Bit, I see a game like the one against the Hawks, when we win, as a poor performance. Others on here bask in the glory of a win and say 'how good were we?' - where I think 'that was a shit performance'. Thats not the type of footy that wins you finals or flags. And that's what we should be happy with.

I watch and think, is this the type of footy that will get us into the 8 or a flag. Even if we win a game like that, I think, is this type of football getting us anywhere? The answer is no. And the answer is, this type of attitude and football we turn up with won't get us enough wins to make finals.

I just know that our club will win when pressure is off and fall apart when pressure is on. Been happening for a very longtime and continues to happen.

So even when we win, alot of the time it's still a 'still shitty' response.

I thought the saints win was our best this year and wasn't surprised we turned up like we did today. It's what this club does.

Don't get time wrong, I hoped otherwise (I had us +25 in my multi)

Nobody defends anything. We all feel bad.
Some vent their spleen others deal with it quietly and rationally. That doesnt mean its not hurting.
Bottom line is not one single thing that ever gets posted on BigFooty makes any difference except to the person writing it and maybe a few reading it.

Play to your strengths. We’ve got the best tall forward, leading the Coleman...play him FF and deliver the ball like last week ffs.
Seems to me like we were trying to fit Charlie in the forwardline by having Harry get upfield.

I get the idea but Charlie was never going to be a better inside 50 target than H. Charlie either has to get upfield or play around H inside 50 for this season at least. We can work out long-term roles in the off-season.

H has made that area his own. We outsmarted ourselves by trying something different.

Wow, you got me.....that proves I thought we would win this game...(I drank the cordial after last week)

Yet to prove i didn't say the season was done weeks ago.....I'll give you a hint.....after the eagles game.....(maybe earlier, been a long year) - round 2 was an eye opener

Funny you actually looked...

Nice backtrack

6 plus hours ago after I turned the game off with about 8 minutes to go in the last qtr I just want to say that was as insipid an effort as I have seen but sadly so totally predictable, 2 games left against sides who beat us for fun when we have nothing to play for could see some nice shellackings coming our way.
When was the last time we won the last game of the season? I just remember pumping after pumping the last few years including getting soaked at the Shittery a couple of seasons ago.
Yeah that was fun, good memories..................

Ins next week: Lamb, Lucas & Russell
Outs? Take your pick.

Yep. Teague probably trying to run Charlie into form knowing we had a couple of big games ahead to make the 8.

I haven't read the previous 26 pages, because it was too disheartening, but I did start to do so and a very common thread was to blame Teague.

Sure, he must take some of the blame but a lot of our players are so conditional and so survival oriented that working for the collective good is foreign.

I don't think I have ever previously in this forum been critical of a player but Walsh was made to wear a hurtful tackle and a opposition goal ensued because of a totally ineffective shepherd by Fisher. He was not the only one today but that one really stood out.

Culture change definitely needed.

We could trade it for a Jaksch and a pick downgrade.

I'm a little offended that you didn't include Mark Whiley who actually played 9 games for us to Jaksch's 7.

That one at the cattery they had a strong wind in the first then it switched for the second what a debacle that was - what about the one against the crows at marvel we won the contested ball inside 50 still lost by close to 100.. expect a couple good spanking maybe fire up a bit against power but GWS midfield will run all over us esp if can still make finals

Haven't had a chance to read anything here yet.

Most concerning for me: I thought the Carlton players tried genuinely hard, for the most part, but were simply outplayed, outclassed and outhunted.

That points to gameplan/coaching being an issue, since the team had enough individual talent to do better.

Really ? I am not giving Teague and the coaching panel a pass here, but I thought collectively the players were lazy, arrogant and complacent, especially after half time.

Anyhow thank Christ for Patty Mills and The Aussie Boomers. Really lifted my spirits.

Bingo, the change came at qtr time the wind switched direction and it hammered down rain, that game against the Crom I barely remember as I was getting hammered while at the game to ease the pain, I think Jenkins walked in about 5 goals for them lol.

I would love to see a bit of campaigner in the playing group the last two games, go down with a bloody fight, not literally but tackle to hurt and stop playing effing nice.

Teague has lost the players. How else can you explain these poor efforts? He killed the development of players by playing his old/cooked favourites, and the players clearly don’t like it. Murphy carried, newnes wouldn’t get a game at sandy, Betts absolutely cooked, Ed played everywhere but as a tagger etc
